8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC Part 16

Okay , here is a little tease of some info and pics ....

So , on our last night we were at dinner in PC , SM had a headache so I told her I would go up to the room to get her some asprin , Well I walked into the room and was shocked to find a package along with a stuffed Pirate Goofy , key Chains , pens , signed pictures of the Characters, a Certificate for being the Best Dressed Pirate and a personal note from our Cruise Director and Friend Rachel ....I wont write the complete details of the letter but it was to say how she loves that we put so much effort into having fun and sharing that with others ...Like I said almost made me cry to know that she went out of her way to do this ....I later saw her and thanked her and she had tears welling up as well ...It was something I would have never expected and will never forget , just when you think the Magic is almost over Rachel proved that the magic will always be there ....So here is a picture of that

Also here are some pictures as I promised of us wearing our PC shirts the last morning before we got off the ship ...front and back of course ....Now I have tons of Pirate pictures but we have to scan those in cause they are really really good and will do that tomorrow ....

Great moment congrats, My fav CD is Rachel, I am sorry I missed her we had Brent who isnt up to her standards this shows she has the Disney Magic.

... you see... I provided ALL of the lottery numbers and they did indeed hit!

as well as a few "spare" winning numbers - which the fortune cookie convenienly provided!

just got back from the repo cruise yeaterday had a great time. we only had one rainy day that was our second day in barcelona. that we only had one day the the seas were a little bit rough. nothing bad you could just feel the ship move a little. now only about 11 and a half month to go for this repo cruise. you got to love the repo cruises

I found this at the mall today for less than $2.00! At a game/toy store called Kirby's World.

Thanks to everyone that have welcome us home. Its great to be among friends. And, I think that while Julie was a bit elusive - I caught her daughters many times - they were more visible than she was. However, I do have proof she was there as she has shown up on a few of my pictures. You all think she would be mad if I posted them?

Let me know. Although I haven't uploaded some today - I'll try later. Right now the family if clamoring to go to MK as they have late hours for now. So later for now!

OK...

So, here are a few pictures from yesterday. We visited the Getty museum with an old friend of mine (I've know him 38 years) and his family. We visited the Getty Museum where we took a guided tour, wandered through an Edward Weston (wow!) exhibit plus a number of galleries. E. Weston is arguably one of the most influential and significant American photographers of our time. Then - we wandered over to Santa Monica Pier in hopes of a little more relief from the heat. And it was nice - but the crowds were significant.

Below are a few pictures from the museum, pier and beach playground at dusk:


Below left is the docent describing a carved statue at the beginning of the tour, in the center is my little one looking on and listening, and on the right is one of the galleries. The natural lighting is controlled by a computerized system that adjusts louvers overhead to maintain the ideal viewing conditions.

Above are views south looking towards Los angeles... an unusually clear day where you can see all the way to downtown LA and on the right is a huge modern art creation that serves as a kind of self playing larger than life organ in the central entrance of the Getty... it was amazing to look upon.

Below are a couple pictures of myself enjoying a couple of the more notable exhibits in the collection as in the 7th most expensive painting in the world valued in inflation adjusted dollars at $97.1 million (left) The Irises by Vincent Van Gogh and one I felt was thought provoking: The portrait of Leonilla Bariatinskaia Princess of Sayn Wittgenstein (1843) by Franz Xaver Winterhalter - the artist to the courts

And below are a couple of shots from the Santa Monica Pier - except the gold flower was at the Getty - Alicia made it in a crafts project with the kids. That was sort of neat ... they had docents taking the kids through a few exhibits explaining how some of the treasures were made then they had simple craft projects set up for the kids to practice simulated materials (gold foil, etc..). As for the others... they're self explanitory - I think... now didn't someone say I was rumored to be surfing in Hawaii a coupleof weeks ago - and as for the other one - I'll leave that for someone else to remark on... I will say my spouse thought it was excessively silly though...

Welcome back world travelers! Glad to see everyone is back safe and sound.

Roger, I loved your virtual trip. Time flies when your having fun.

We aren't doing too much this weekend. DD is counting down the days soon to be hours till school starts! I on the other hand am wondering where the summer went. DD is signed up for her dance classes 3 back-to-back on Monday nights! But I get 2 1/2 hours to myself. That will come in handy for Christmas shopping!
