Well I just had an annoying experience! On Fridays in the summer, a little local grocery store down the street from my office (about 4 short blocks) sets up a grill and serves lunch. I usually walk down there to pick up my lunch and it takes about 15 minutes - 5 minutes to get there, 5 minutes to get my lunch, 5 minutes to walk back. Since there isn't anyone else in the office today, I had to close down for the 15 minutes - but Friday's tend to be quiet to it isn't too big a deal.

Today I walked down as usual and could see as I crossed the river that it was running very high and fast. There was a fire department official that had just pulled up and was looking at the bridge and the water. Since he was holding a roll of yellow tape, I stopped and asked if they were going to close the bridge and explained that I needed to walk back over it in about 5 minutes. He told me they were closing it to cars, but foot traffic wouldn't be a problem. I went and picked up my lunch and when I got back to the bridge it was totally closed off and being watched by a police officer (not the fire guy I talked to) - this was only about 5 minutes later! The police officer insisted the bridge was completely closed to all forms of traffic.

I did manage to get back to the office by walking upsteam to the next bridge and then back down. It probably isn't the end of the world that the office was closed 30 minutes instead of 15 - it just REALLY annoys me that a public official lied to me!

PS - still no luck finding a copy of HSM2. None of our friends seems to have taped it or TIVO'd it or anything.

I just saw the Magic on this website a few minutes ago, the video changes every so often, but there were a couple different angles of the Magic, I even saw some people walking up the gang plank. I believe this is the last port the Magic will be at until they reach Castaway Cay next week.

Edited to add: It appears as the Magic has now left, and is on it's way for six sea days, arriving at Castaway Cay next Friday and back at Port Canaveral one week from tomorrow.

So, here it is...my COAL (Car of a Lifetime).

I'm trying to stay close to the speed limit, but I sure can go from 0 to the limit very quickly!

Waaay Cool M. :cool2: Looks like something for SoCal. I guess you really could not have this car in Alaska could you.

Knowing how traffic is around there and the endless traffic lights, where do you get to run it? :lmao: Love the color!:thumbsup2

Well now...

Will ya look at that... <chuckles> .... here's Tina taunting about where the Mustang could get a "runnin'" ... and in my last posting I was counseling restraint and safety. Sigh... I always suspected the ladies around here were secretly a bunch of feisty wenches. Or so ... maybe not so secretly...

Yeah, I'm the one the other moms talk about....

Had one of these in my garage all last weekend. Same color with the white stripe down the front like the Shelby. It wasn't a convertible. Our friends were visiting and they had to bring it to show it off. They had just bought it for their 17 year old daughter. It was really nice. I kept trying to tell them that since it was in MY garage and possession is 9/10ths of the law it should be mine but that didn't work to well.

Pamela... I would chalk this one up as simple human nature and or perhaps the situation was evolving. The fireman had to render an opinion when you asked but it could have changed rapidly. In desperate, threatening moments the nature of the beast is things change sometimes.

Of course - on the other hand he could have just been snickering and setting you up for a loop. However, I tend to discount that potential...

Therefore, I counsel a cooling and relaxing spat of meditation - or go grab a nice juice bar to relax with....

:rotfl:
Yeah, like I said I'm TRYING to not go more than 10mph over the speed limit (my norm), but I can go from 0 to the speed limit instantly. Manual transmission too. Gosh it's fun to drive.

Knowing how traffic is around there and the endless traffic lights, where do you get to run it? :lmao: Love the color!:thumbsup2

Thanks! I had to wait a few more days to get that color, but it's what I wanted.

If I head south on the highway (not during evening rush) I have clear cruising & the GW Parkway is a nice, pretty, no traffic light, stretch of road.

M: LOVE the COAL!!! Congratulations!!!
Me too! Umm, thanks!:)

No, and that was the point. Once upon a time we had a Saturn - our first real car. It was getting older, but I planned to drive it back and forth to grad school and get something new when I went back to work. Well it blew up about 3 weeks after I started school. SOoooo I ended up driving a paid-cash-for-it-$6,000-squirrel-powered-Kia-Sephia back and forth to school (one hour each way...for 2 years, not fun). My mantra became: "Mustang when I gaduate, Mustang when I graduate." When DH got orders to AK, the first thing I said was: "There goes my Mustang."

But now I have my COAL. Life is good.

I just got my mail..............and received a refund check for 300.00 from Disney ..............don't think I can say the rest of name.:confused3 I will email dreams to check it out. Wonder if this means no extra 300.00 obc?:confused3

Just dropping by:wave2: . I've spent the last 3 days at a chemicals plant in Grangemouth, Scotland so have about 30 pages of ketchup! I guess it's just as well that many are at WDW otherwise it would be at least double that! Off to start the marathon read so no doubt I'll end up with several posts tonight as I wade my way through. If for some reason I don't post, enjoy chat tonight!

But now I have my COAL.
Life is good.

I like to see remarks like that which simply ring sooo true.

Now if I could only craft/wrangle a way for my spouse to get me my Canon 40D and a lense I don't alredy have (but I sort of covet) - then I'd be kind of "extra" happy for a little while. If I have ta wait too long fer it I'm gonna just break down and git it myself. But I figureI'll hold out til Christmas or my birthday to give her a chance to sneak a purchase with a sale of some kind. AND - I doubt she'd get the lens I want ... a 24-105 IS L... as it's the sort of thing that never goes on sale. SO even I will hesitate .... in perpetuity :scared1: .

nice ta see you're out of the plant in Grangemouth fer a while... (is that it above?) .... enjoy reading "the novel" ... I've still got some ketchup due fer me too... I've been pacing myself with reading 200 postings at a single sitting to catch up on the stuff I missed while I was away 2 weeks - the internet connections I had there were laughable - DSL at that too!.

So stretch back and relax - the weekend has arrived!

Yep...I agree, should be part yours! :rotfl:

DD Jordan (17) can't decide if she wants one of these (Mustang) or a big 'ol Dodge truck. I told her that if Mom and Dad are footing the bill, it had better be the Mustang. We could get 2 of those for the price of the pickup.

I don't think DU is discontinuing thier increased cabin credit offer. As the banner on the DIS still states OBC is good up to $600. HOWEVER... that said ... I must confess to wondering about what your $300 refund was all about? Did you pay for your cruise in full already? That would generate a refund if that prepayment included the reversed $100 per person PC tax they imposed and then withdrew. Or... ?????? :confused3 who knows what its' about. I would probably call DCL if I were you.

Unfortunately for DD, we won't be getting here a FORD. Mark might get fired. :rotfl: :rotfl: We have order her a SKY but we aren't sure about that either. Might wait until the new Camero comes out. We were checking them out at the Dream Cruise. Really hot car.

For a teen I would stick with the SAFEST car you could find for him/her. Not to say he/she's any less of a driver than anyone else (like - how would I know?)... but young drivers are cited - as we all know - as having a much higher then normal accident rate. And I just saw a print ad talking about the annual fatality rate of 6000 teens a year in the USA as new drivers. That says NOTHING about the number of accident survivors - or the severely injured.

Frankly, I am very concerned as to how my spouse and I will address this risk potential - while enabling a fuifilling teen aged existance for our kids. They make such amazin gadgets today - a spy box that records the activity, speeds and "g" forces of a car. So in 10 years I imagine technology will enablefar more advanced (and probably affordable) tracking devices.

Am I too willing to be invasive and controlling? :confused3
