Just wondering if you have booked DCL transportation already? If you have not I would suggest catching a shuttle from DL area to the port. Primetime is a shuttle service here in LA that I have heard good reports on and that we will probably be taking. I just ran a quote to get an idea of price from the DL area to the port (this would be for a family of 4).

From Long Beach Airport to DL Area

Cabs are very expensive. LB airport is 19 miles from DL and a cab will probably run you $36 each way. We also have think about luggage. Personally I am traveling with 3 girls X 15 days = what 15 bags. :rotfl2:(JK hun) I am personally thinking of getting a dedicated van to the port just because of the luggage.

I think Chris is still looking into a charted buss from the DL area to San Pedro as well.

Julie (bellelinus) & I are waiting until after the 1st of the year. We'll get a ballpark figure on the number of people and then negotiate a group rate.

I guess this ends my dream of them adding a veranda onto my Cat 9. :sad1:

Can't hurt to reinforce their decision so they don't find ways to make up the $$ on the cruise.

Guess this means no free drinks then.......
We'll still order at least 300 mickey bars though...:rolleyes1

I was planning on using LAX until some kind folks told me Long Beach would be better.

Our luggage shouldnt be too bad

We're going LAX cause we like to fly SWA.

Luggage...yeah i'm worried.... Even last year our garment bag barely closed with all the good clothes/dresses. I can just imagine twice that amount. At least it's summer and we won't need any jeans or Sweatshirts. (maybe a light windbreaker for windy nights on-deck) Summertime is much lighter packing.

We have transfers booked for now but i might switch to one way rental for the FL end if we can get a late day flight and then we can do a water park day before going home.

We had a wonderful stay in the Big Apple! I do have to say that the highlight of our trip was meeting and spending time with our wonderful friends. Thank you so much Peter for organizing it!!

Last night around 10:30 pm we went to the Top of the Rock! What a wonderful view! It was amazing how far removed we felt from the hustle and bustle of the city. We also rode the subway down to the WTC site yesterday morning. Even with all the construction going on there it still brings tears to your eyes. The exhibit they have in the church is really moving. We then walked to Little Italy for lunch and then along Canal Street to board the subway back to Times Square. We took a horse carraige through Central Park--we had walked through it one afternoon, but the horse ride was very enjoyable. We had dinner at Ellen's Stardust Diner--it was a really fun place. The waitstaff all take turns singing and getting the diners involved.

And of course we took in the World of Disney store at 55th and 5th. It was nice to get a taste of Disney while we were here.

I hope to come back one day and be able to iceskate at Rockerfeller Center. Hope you all have a wonderful day---we head for the airport in a couple of hours. :goodvibes

Wow Paula You really covered a lot in such a short time.:woohoo: The carriage ride is wonderful.:cloud9: Sounds like the trip was a winner!!

Just sailed right past my 15,000th post! So much for being profound.
I think it was the Happy Birthday wish to Arlene. That seems to be a great post for 15,000!!!

Congrats Stacey On the big 15,000!!!!!!!

WOW - 15,000 posts - Awesome!!
I think I'm neariing 500 now - and when I started posting here I had 5!!!
BTW - the eyeliner & brows didn't hurt at all - however, my pain tolerance is huge. So, I'm not one to ask!!!

I got to check it out when we are on the cruise. I am chicken and dislike pain...any kind of pain!!!:headache:

Just stopped by the house to cool off for a few minutes and I found a package was waiting for me, inside I found the Capt'n Mickey I ordered back in February or March. It's been so long I forgot when I ordered it. I kind expected it to be a little bit bigger than this, but oh well, at least he finally made it..........:goodvibes

CaptnMickey.jpg

Very awesome Andy!!!!! I like the coke bottle too and the little castle on the side!!!

Congrats on the new Target, but sad news for your wallet.

I saw all that AWE stuff at mine. Ended up with a few CJS items.

I am going to Target tomorrow!!!! What kind of goodies did they have??? I am also going to pm you after I finish this post.......I promise.

We are coming from the East Coast for this cruise, and plan to come in a few days earlier to check out the San Diego / Los Angeles area. Not sure yet which airline (or airport) or where we might stay, anyone else also planning to do this?

Nothing is finalized for arrangement but keep checking back.:flower3:

Am I the first to get this?
I got mine from Dreams!! Did you book with DCL and switch to TA???:confused3

It'd be nice if he could get his facts right... Even I know more about this than his blog says. And it's not a new toll, it's a recalculation of the existing toll...

Oh well, I'm still going to be happy that DCL isn't charging me twice for the same toll.

I think we should quit while we are still ahead!!:goodvibes :rolleyes1

Just checked my inbox and its there

Does this mean it won't be "extra special"?

Someone should let the Orlando paper guy know

Of course it is going to be "extra special".........We are all going to be there.:dance3:

This was just posted on the WB thread:

Just thought you all would like to know.

Tracy

Thanks Tracy and Dreams and Disney too!!!:cheer2:

Thank you DU

You have a customer for life.

I agree!!! Forever and ever!!!!:yay:

Sarangel......That is great news.
Thanks to all who wrote those great letters. I guess you can fight the big corporation and win. ( I work for a big corporation and my big corporation doesnt care about its customers, so I didnt bother writing, really didnt think it work) Than again I dont work for Disney.
Again thanks to all for saving me $400 bucks. Now I'll have more drinking money.

And thanks to everyone for the well wishes. The response from the tech at the radiology place of course was no help .. if there is/isnt a problem. I know they're not supposed to say anything but..........
So Dr should have results by weeks end and if its an emergency he will have results sooner. Like that means anything to me. This is why I hate going to the Dr for anything. Everything is hurry up and wait. And Ill only have to return to the Dr to get results since now they wont give anything over the phone UGGGGHHH

Maureen remember no news is good news. I will still say a pray everything is okay.:grouphug:

Just think of how much less room your smaller sized clothes will take.:yay: :yay: I still want to know your secret!!:rolleyes1

I'm hoping for an address to port so I can send our formal clothes and Pirate costumes ahead.

What a great idea!!! How would that work sending them back? Could you do that from the port or the airport? I would have to head right back on Labor Day.

Hey, is anyone else having problems with the multi-quote function? Everytime I go to post a new post- it shows ALL the posts I'd quoted previously... from way far back. I have to delete them off everytime. These are posts I'd already quoted previously in my posts-so I have no idea why they keep showing up in the box everytime I click to post! Wondering if anyone else is having this same problem?

I hear you on this Deanna! As far as I am concerned, DU has gone above and beyond. I was honestly expecting the doubled OBC to have been reduced to the original. However, I will not feel any more guilty about the extra OBC than DCL would have about the increase. IMO, DCL now needs to 'make it up' to the TAs.

I'm not even using DU and I agree that DCL now needs to make it up to the TA's!

Lor

Thats our plan too JetBlue out of JFK to Long Beach, Take a cab to a hotel near DL than cab it back to the airport for the Disney Transportaion to port. Nothing official yet, since gotta wait for JetBlue to release their schedule. Was thinking maybe a late night flight Thursday, And we would have Fri Sat at DL.
It would really be cheaper to take a cab back to the airport and then take disney transportation to the port from the airport?

Warning fly by posting here............
I have lots to say, just not enough time to say it. That could be a good thing.:rotfl2: Just found out I will be driving with Chuck, Brooke, Dante back up to NY for a couple of days. Long story but I have alot to do, we leave tomorrow afternoon and packing for Dante is like packing for a toddler.:rotfl2:

Will write more when I return.

For these Birthday's that I have missed..............

Shhhh don't let the tag fairy know. :rolleyes1

Hee hee! My "baby" will be 15 for the cruise! I am a bit older than most I guess! But I just loooove Disney! And my youngest loves to travel and is a good sport about doing family things.

I never even thought about getting used to the time change; what a great idea!

My DS will be 15 at cruise time.

Stacey Congrats on the 15, 000

Roger: Please oh please wise one................I need a freak your flag.:rotfl2: I have no idea on what I would want so I leave it in your hands.:)

Andy: Love your coke bottle. I am a pepsi drinker but still love that bottle !

Someone had asked me where I got the Mickey Mouse t-shirt for Dante? I got it from target. They have a ton of stuff for dogs ! The Disney toys don't last long with Dante though.:rotfl2: I keep trying.:rolleyes1

Huge Kudos to Disney & Dreams ! I am so impressed !:goodvibes

Hmmm my DD will be turning 15 on cruise.

o.k that's it, really need to get off and I did answer my PM'S.:)

My dd turns 14 in Jan- so she'll be 14.5 (or rather 14 and 8mo) at the time of the cruise. That's close enough right? LOL

Man oh man... DH is in the doghouse right now.
I just turned 38yrs old and I went ALL MY LIFE without being stung by a bee and he got me stung by a yellow jacket tonight! I had no idea those hurt so much! Actually it stung me twice... or else there were 2 of them and I only saw one.
What happened is we brought the trailer over from my sister's house to pull into our backyard (driveway continues thru the double gate into our backyard) now that we have a space for it (we've lived here since Nov- but we had to tear out the dogrun with built in doghouse to make room for the trailer- previous owners altered the concrete drive into a dogrun with doghouse built into the side panel of the dogrun- hard to explain).

Anyway, it's kinda dark on that side of the house and it was getting late so it was pitch dark over there in the backyard. We really need to get a light on that side of the house too...so we can just flip it on when we flip on the back lights. So anyway... he rigs up this floodlight thing he has for when he's working on stuff in the dark- from the garage and hooks it on to the double gate thing there. He comes in asking ME to stand there and let him know if he's getting it in straight and tell him to stop when he's backed in the travel trailer "just" far enough in to be able to shut the gates to the backyard.

I do it- but I'm flipping out because the light is attracting bugs  like you wouldn't believe and crickets were jumping on me. I can handle moths but I can't stand things that jump all over crazy like and jump ON ME. I kept telling him to hurry up because the bugs were attacking me. So he's almost got it in place- I tell him to stop and then right then I feel another cricket jump on my leg so I did the "cricket get off me semi-hysterical for a split second" dance and then I feel something on my arm so I reflexively slap it away thinking it's a moth or cricket but no... as I swatted it away I felt PAIN and looked down to realize it's something of the "bee persuasion" and without thinking I freak out even more and swat it away again and take off running- but I got stung twice right there on the arm -probably when I swatted at it thinking it was a moth or cricket.

OWWWIE. It hurt pretty bad and swelled up and all that fun stuff. LOL

I didn't really think a sting would hurt that bad. Jeff said he saw it right as I did the swatting at it and flipping out like a crazy woman running thru the garage to the house (like this :scared: ) and he said it was a yellow jacket. I said it's all his fault he made me get stung for the first time in my life. well he COULD have just kept getting in and out to check his progress or something. Having me stand by a light attracting bugs to it- what was he thinking?

ugh
And the thing is I USED to be a total flipout if I saw bees anywhere around me. I'm still afraid of them but I don't flip out- mostly because I don't want my kids to flip out. I usually just try to walk away from them but I've been known to knock down a few dirt daubers nests, spray bug spray on YJ's nests, etc. but it was DARK and I thought it was a moth or cricket jumping on me. I had no idea it was a YJ otherwise I would have just walked away (quickly!) and not slapped at it.

:sad1:

:sad1:

Sorry to hear about your awful stings BIP. As a kid I got stung multiple times by Yellowjackets and yes they are very painful. Hope you get better soon. :grouphug:

Are YJ's more painful than other "stingers"? just curious. Because it really did hurt- it was like someone was cutting my arm off or something. LOL :lmao: It was quite a shock. I didn't think it would hurt like that. I thought it would be similar to like a fire ant- the kinds we get down here that sting and hurt.

But anyway he's even MORE in the doghouse now. He's already asleep and I waited until the kids went to sleep to go to the store- because it seems we're almost out of milk and no one told me we were out of bread either (the last must have been eaten at lunch or something)- so we need milk and bread. I was going to run to the store for that but... I get out there to realize Jeff has already hooked up the flatbed trailer (full of the wood scraps, panels, poles, etc. from the dogrun he tore down back there) and he's parked in the drive with the flatbed trailer attached to his vehicle- so I can't even get out of the garage! (and no, I can't/won't drive his vehicle with the trailer of wood scaps just piled on there. I can drive his vehicle. and I even drove the vehicle with the flatbed trailer back over here while he drove a vehicle with the travel trailer attached- but to drive his vehicle PLUS the trailer PLUS it's full of wood scraps piled up high and sticking out all over.. no thanks. I'll end up scratching up someone's car on the side of the roads out here. It seems almost every house has atleast one vehicle parked out in front in the street- on both sides of the street! Not on our street or even our few streets that made up our subdivision but the only way OUT of this subdivision is past an area of a few more streets and all THOSE streets there is barely passable room for one vehicle, much less a trailer with wood sticking out of it- at night because of all the vehicles parked on the street. Everyone has garages- but I guess they have more vehicles than they have garage space- yanno?

So I'm stuck and can't go get milk for cereal for everyone in the morning and can't get bread either.... that stinker!

A quick check in from Barcelona Airport, after a fabulous cruise on the Magic.

Those 11 days went so fast.

The ship great as ever, the ports fantastic so much to do, so little time.

From touring Naples Sorrento Amalfi drive, Pompeii, to touring Rome, to a train ride in Sardinia, and a picnic lunch, to Florence so stunning, and a climb of Pisa, To Provence and Cassis, the cliff coastline, and Monte Carlo Nice and Villafrance.

Little time on ship, but the shows all great Disney dreams enhanced with 'snow' and Lion king Puma and Crush in the under the sea bit, to When Mickey dreams a great new aerobic show, the art of the story, was good but needs a little work.

Menes very good service in Palo great though scones for afternoon tea a little flat.

Weather great until last sea day, rough seas blowing a gale, sunny am then goofy pool and deck 4 closed off. Rain on arrival in Barcelona today.

Servers great, our Cruise director was Brent, more of a manager than the other CD's I feel.

Ship was full but they handled lines well.

Andrew--welcome back, glad to hear you had a fabulous cruise!!! :goodvibes

I'm glad to see that the $100 "tax" has been resolved. I would be totally oblivious without the Dis (go ahead Tom, comment...). I don't think all of our mail has caught up to us & I didn't get any e-mails from DCL or my TA.

Thanks everyone for the congrats on my new job.

Congrats on the new job!

I've been having my mid-life crisis for the past 18 months or so...got my first ever new car in Apr 06, two tatoos and I don't know what's next! (Umm, yeah I do, two more tats...) Figure I need to get this all in before I turn 40 next year.:scared1:

You go girl! What tats are you getting next?

I'll have it with you, M. I turn that horrible # also in Oct. In the past 6 months i've lost 70 lbs, thought about a tatoo (but dh is opposed), and i am more seriously thinking about getting a scooter.

I saw this cute red Vespa scooter the other night and loved it.....

I think i might have to go kick a few tires this weekend.;) at the local dealership.

I really am excited to think about loosing my car and gaining a scooter.

Maybe it's time to clean out some room in the garage.

Get the scooter!!!

What's funny is that the age (turning ##, whatever it is) doesn't bother me. I had fun turning 30. "Look at me, I'm 30!" DH was a wreck at 25, but he's been fine ever since.

I don't look at it as a midlife crisis, but more of being at a place in your life where you can make better decisions and better afford the toys you've wanted. I too lost a bunch of weight, got a tattoo, got a Harley, and flew half way around the world to Tokyo.

Exactly! I got married young (21), had my kids young-ish (25 & 27). I was a SAHM for 4 years and a full time student/SAHM for 2 more years. I was fortunate that we were in a situation where I could stay home, but things were tight. I drove sensible cars, we didn't vacation, I worked out, but I didn't have the time to train for any sort of event with babies and toddlers. Now I do.

I don't FEEL like I'm having a crisis (midlife or otherwise), but I can certainly understand that someone may look at my life during the last few months and think that!

We haven't posted in a while but are always lurking around and trying to catch up from time-to-time. (The better half more than me--at least lately I think she has more time. I might hear about that one. :scared: ) Best wishes to you all. Take care.

Hey HockeyNut! Good to see you back around!

Thanks
Keep me posted about the bus It might be hard to get hubby onboard. He tends to feel more comfortable letting Disney handle it. He even wanted me to book the airfare, but I showed him (and many posts from my fellow dis'ers) the error of his ways.
This sounds like my DH - he is so much more comfortable with DCL handling everything - It is nice to go on a vacation where you don't have to deal with DETAILS!
