My dd turns 14 in Jan- so she'll be 14.5 (or rather 14 and 8mo) at the time of the cruise. That's close enough right? LOL
Man oh man... DH is in the doghouse right now.
I just turned 38yrs old and I went ALL MY LIFE without being stung by a bee and he got me stung by a yellow jacket tonight! I had no idea those hurt so much! Actually it stung me twice... or else there were 2 of them and I only saw one.
What happened is we brought the trailer over from my sister's house to pull into our backyard (driveway continues thru the double gate into our backyard) now that we have a space for it (we've lived here since Nov- but we had to tear out the dogrun with built in doghouse to make room for the trailer- previous owners altered the concrete drive into a dogrun with doghouse built into the side panel of the dogrun- hard to explain).
Anyway, it's kinda dark on that side of the house and it was getting late so it was pitch dark over there in the backyard. We really need to get a light on that side of the house too...so we can just flip it on when we flip on the back lights. So anyway... he rigs up this floodlight thing he has for when he's working on stuff in the dark- from the garage and hooks it on to the double gate thing there. He comes in asking ME to stand there and let him know if he's getting it in straight and tell him to stop when he's backed in the travel trailer "just" far enough in to be able to shut the gates to the backyard.
I do it- but I'm flipping out because the light is attracting bugs

like you wouldn't believe and crickets were jumping on me. I can handle moths but I can't stand things that jump all over crazy like and jump ON ME.

I kept telling him to hurry up because the bugs were attacking me. So he's almost got it in place- I tell him to stop and then right then I feel another cricket jump on my leg so I did the "cricket get off me semi-hysterical for a split second" dance and then I feel something on my arm so I reflexively slap it away thinking it's a moth or cricket but no... as I swatted it away I felt PAIN and looked down to realize it's something of the "bee persuasion" and without thinking I freak out even more and swat it away again and take off running- but I got stung twice right there on the arm -probably when I swatted at it thinking it was a moth or cricket.
OWWWIE. It hurt pretty bad and swelled up and all that fun stuff. LOL
I didn't really think a sting would hurt that bad. Jeff said he saw it right as I did the swatting at it and flipping out like a crazy woman running thru the garage to the house (like this

) and he said it was a yellow jacket. I said it's all his fault he made me get stung for the first time in my life. well he COULD have just kept getting in and out to check his progress or something. Having me stand by a light attracting bugs to it- what was he thinking?
ugh
And the thing is I USED to be a total flipout if I saw bees anywhere around me. I'm still afraid of them but I don't flip out- mostly because I don't want my kids to flip out. I usually just try to walk away from them but I've been known to knock down a few dirt daubers nests, spray bug spray on YJ's nests, etc. but it was DARK and I thought it was a moth or cricket jumping on me. I had no idea it was a YJ otherwise I would have just walked away (quickly!) and not slapped at it.
