Since we're sharing CP stories. When I was 17 years old, I was sitting at the dining room table with my then boyfriend & I turned around to my mother in the kitchen & said, "Mom I don't know what the heck is wrong with me but my face is loaded with pimples!" She took one look at me & said, "Lift your shirt!" OMG my stomach was covered!!! :scared: I was so sick & in pain the next couple of days with a fever so high that I passed out on the bathroom floor! Both my kids have received mandatory vaccinations, but I am also finding out that kids at school are still getting them. I really hope that they don't end up getting them later in life. I would not wish that on anyone!

My Mum was one of those that whenever a friend had them we were forced to go and play with them - I think we just built up an immunity to be honest.

My brother finally got them when he was 15, I've never seen anyone so green - he was close to being hospitalised. I caught them shortly thereafter at the age of 18. I felt so ill I wanted to die. The raging headache, fever, constant itching, no sleep - I wouldn't put my worst enemy through that. It was in the middle of the summer holidays too. My parents set up our old knee deep portable pool in the garden and when the itching got so unbearable we'd just climb in and chill off.

I just wish I'd had them as a child, I still have scars. My Mum kept telling us to only scratch the ones on our head and hope that we don't go bald later in life - those darn pox were everywhere and I mean everywhere inside and out. It is a nasty illness.

I got mine in either '61 or '62. I still have my little "reminder" too and so's Kev!

Do you remember the Polio Vaccine? It came on a sugar cube. I remember that I was very upset cuz I could only get one! :lmao:

Alas its no longer drops (at least not here). I had the drops a few years back as a booster and man does it taste NASTY. No wonder they give it to children on a sugar cube.

My partner had a polio vaccine booster a few weeks ago as he's off to India in December and it was a jab. He's just had another series of vaccines today - he's probably feeling a little like a pincushion now :)

I emailed DCL and they are sending our new CC package in the mail.

We are CC members but apparently Disney do not provide CC cards to overseas members - seems a little silly to me. I hope they change that soon especially with the new ships coming up and them possibly sailing more international destinations.

We are DVC so they give us cards for that so why no CC? I guess maybe because we spent a little more on DVC perhaps? :rotfl2:

Was down by you again today, had dinner at Deptford Mall (Ruby Tues)

Oh man, we were just across the street from the Deptford Mall today at the AMC 6 watching Hair Spray. So close, yet so far. I wish I knew you were only seconds away, I could have stopped by and said hello in person Tom. We could have had a mini-Mini DISmeet.......:lmao:

That is super great news.

Just hopping over from the Westbound thread to say that the Panama Canal website seems pretty clear on this being a new method of calculating the tolls, not a completely new tax.

Until 30 Sept 2007 the tolls for a ship such as the Disney Magic will be calculated by tonnage.
From 1 Oct 2007 the tolls will be calculated per berth, at $100 per berth.

The new method is instead of the old, not as well as.

So DCL should only be charging the difference between the two which, from my rough calculations, should be nowhere near $100 per person.

What in fact they are doing is making us pay the same tax twice.

Anyone with some experience speaking legalese willing to try and decipher whether or not the new tax is in addition to the old one or in place of the old one? I know I'd be very interested in knowing this.

TOM are you listening???

I don't speak legalese, but I have been poking around the Panama canal authority website some more and found this in a press release in fairly straightforward english!

"Passenger Vessels: Regarding passenger vessels, an assessment of tolls will be based on maximum passenger capacity. In general, under this change, large vessels will be charged tolls on a per berth basis, and smaller ships will continue under the Canal tonnage tolls system. "

If this turns out to be the case, then hopefully the supervisor CaptainCrash spoke with is correct and a "refund" that will adjust our totals downward again will be coming....

I don't think I want to just trust that this will happen and I think DH or I will be making regular calls to DCL to ask about this!

Pamela (pdarrah)

Did someone ask for a lawyer?? :cool2:

You would need to know what they budgeted for the trip when they created the rate structure to figure that out. Only DCL could answer that.

I hope someone gets the real lowdown on this. I think between the posters on this thread,we will hear something soon :thumbsup2

Hi Everyone!:goodvibes

Feel good Andy.

Was looking for information today on the cruise but all the links on the first page are gone. Am I missing something or have they been relocated?

Thanks
