Starlight soft opening tonight at 9 pm!!!

I guess for me the single character floats were ok but the bigger floats with multiple characters it was hard to take everything in. But again, we were positioned around a bend in the parade route so didn’t get the full benefit of seeing the floats approach. So maybe that’s why it seemed faster. Not sure if that makes sense.
I agree. We were across from Sleepy Hollow. I don’t think that was a a good spot, since we were so close. It was definitely hard to see everything. We are here all week, so I’ll watch it again to see everything I missed. Next time I’ll watch from Main Street or Frontierland, for hopefully a better view.

I watched a stream the second night and my overall reaction was positive. But as some have mentioned the floats seemed really high and the spaces between them a tad bit dead. Instead of just dancers I would love to see mini floats flitting about. Looking forward to seeing it in person at some point,

I’ve watched it several times now and here’s my take.

The music is okay. I think it will grow on me, and maybe I’ll end up loving it.
The floats are beautiful, but some are so high, I feel like a few characters are too far up.
They need some characters walking around. I think Tink is the only one on the ground.

My biggest beef are the people dressed in all black holding the diamonds/waves/butterflies in between floats. I think it falls flat and looks cheap.
I saw a video by a DISNEY ENTERTAINMENT CM who worked the parades for years and still friends with. She watched SOFT a few times, had concerns so she contacted some of her friends who are in the parade. She asked them if after soft there would be more added; characters walking like usual parades or them getting actual costumes (not black) or them getting choreography as opposed to just walking with a prop. They said NO this is what it is.

She stated she was very disappointed because parades are supposed to be stories that flow and the on the ground CMs in great costumes, dancing etc are what connects the story and floats. I mean she is right, think about Boo to You and Christmas and the daytime. Some of the best parts are the free walking and dancing characters. Hopefully Disney hears some feedback and adds on to it.

We were at the spot where they turn from Liberty square (by hall of Presidents) and turn into frontierland (sort of near the Riverboat) It’s a small area to see such big floats up close. We saw the 9:00 and I wanted to see the 11:00 from Main Street but my daughters elected to beat the mad dash to the boats. I’m curious to see it from that view next time.

^This^! I love to watch characters interact with children along the parade route. Impersonal comes to mind. And why is Tink the only character on ground when she is known for her flying at the MK??

I've not seen it in person and will do so soon and will love it, I'm sure.😍

Edit: Might be a visibility issue. It is sooo dark and might be dangerous for any interaction bt characters and guests.

When will the calendar be updated for times in August/September? Trying to plan our evenings and I think my DH wants to see this...

Watched several videos and just not impressed at all.

The floats look like Christmas lights stapled to them-come no where near the tech of Paint the Night.

Lots of dead space in the parade and looks like no choreography for any of it even characters on floats, and only one character walking-that’s bizarre.

The music is quite boring and brings no energy and worse, there’s nothing connecting each float. No overarching anything tying it all together.

And the tag line “Dream the Night Away” is better than Starlight! THAT should be the name of it.

So disappointed because I have such fond memories of watching Spectro as a kid and being absolutely mesmerized. This is a swing and a miss.

I was very busy this weekend so didn't get a chance to watch the new parade. Overall I think the foundation is solid but there is definite room for improvement. Biggest issues for me are the very uninspired music and the massive amounts of dead space in between floats. These are things that can be improved upon but as of right now it's *shrugs shoulders* meh.

Maybe it’s just me. Was anyone else surprised that some of Disney’s newest movies got giant floats with just one character on them (no supporting characters even) where the classic characters were crowded all on one float? My daughter’s favorite character, for example, is Rapunzel and she was situated oddly on a boat (tilted weirdly in one direction) on the train float. You had to look for her or you could almost miss her the way the boat was tilted. It’s an odd choice. And beloved characters like Ariel warranted her own as well in my opinion. Sadly this is unlikely to change. I liked Encanto (never saw Wish). But they could have been dancers on the street.
