I agree that the website looks terrific, and greatly appreciate J.R.'s hard work. I guess truth be told, I too would feel better about last names being withheld. It really isn't necessary to making plans with each other.
I haven't been a contributor to this thread of late, but I know that I will be posting more as time permits (like when school is back in session). I still value the friendships I have made here, and hope they continue.
In regards to those "lurking", I learned a valuable lesson on our last cruise, that I'd like to share. I joined the DIS group to share my excitement and learn more before taking our first cruise. I had NO INTENTION of actually meeting any of these people once onboard. As I got to know them, I realized how much I enjoyed conversation with them. I later decided I would meet them to satisfy my curiousity of what they looked like in person, but that would be the end of it. The majority of our group met in the terminal before boarding. As I walked around talking "in person" to people I had talked to the entire year prior online, I felt as though they were already old friends. I was shocked to find myself making plans with them for the coming week. As it turned out, we spent the vast majority of our time onboard and in port with fellow DISers. These people enhanced our cruise experience more than I can describe, and I consider them to be life long friends. We continue to stay in contact, and visited a couple. We also hope to vacation together again in the future. We would have missed out on so much if we had not taken part in the group online.
I share this in the hopes it will encourage those who are "on the fence" as to whether or not they should participate. Please jump in....you won't regret it!
