Angelina asked me to come up with a design for an ad page in the high school yearbook. This is a "rough draft" of what I did over the weekend. These are all of Angelina's school pictures from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Angelina requested the words of the song, "In My Daughter's Eyes" be added. And yes, she does call us Momster and Dadster..............:rotfl:

That's beautiful, Andy! Great job!

Hey nearcat!
I'm like you, haven't posted much here. I've been overwhelmed a bit by the size of this group and the number of posts each day. I quess I've been waiting for it to slow down so I could jump on (kinda like the merry-go-round;) )
So are you a Met fan or a Yankee fan ?

Hi Laurie! The pace has slowed down considerably on this this thread, so I hope to hear from you more often here. Hope you are having a great summer.

She is currently in Paris, France. Which is why I had time to do the website this week after the kids were in bed.

My spouse loves visiting far off places with Paris near the top of the list. Of course, being without the spouse makes for more work fer ya in keeping the family runnin'! Which makes my thanks all the more sincere on account of your launching the web site while single handed at home!!! It looks great! Cheers ta ya JR!

HAPPY JULY 4TH!!!

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

Thank you to all our servicemen who are serving our country!

Those who are celebrating with picnics, get togethers and fireworks, have fun.

Tonite at Colonial Williamsburg we are having our annual fireworks exstravagana. We are packing a dinner and going down early to get a good spot to enjoy all the festivites. Ususally we get about 40,000 people down here this week.

Have a Happy 4th!!!

Karen

Heh-hee-heh!

Karen... forgive me for quoting and RESIZING your posting - to save on space. Our family is gonna meet up with another family to visit the Regan Libary this morning - as they have extensive day time 4th of July activities. Then later tonight we're just hanging out at the local Jans Mall to watch fireworks. They have a multi-story parking structure which is retasked as an observation platform for the firewoorks tonight. If we go early enough we'll get wrist bands to enter as they limit the number of people up there! Then afterwards we're doning Bucca de Peppa - (or Puka-de-uppa as some have quipped)... as our friends have a coupon they want-a use.

Ok ... enuf of that now... good nite all!

To all our friends in America

Have a great holiday today and enjoy your celebrations.

Best wishes

David, Helen, Alex & Bethan.

Thanks to all for their kind words.... I think this is going to be fun!

My son, Thomas is 11. He will be 12 for the cruise (or 3 - he's a Leap Day baby). So this cruise is his birthday present. A Halloween cruise must be awesome! Maybe we'll do a holiday cruise sometime.

I'm sure I'm going to have lots of cruising questions down the road... but reading the boards has given me lots of answers (& laughs).

Happy 4th to all!!!

Penny....your son will have lots of kids in his age group on the cruise. My son, Drew, will be turning 12 later this month, so by cruise time he'll have just turned 13.

On our last cruise, Drew made a friend (a fellow DISers, son) at the terminal, and they hung out all week together. They went to the arcade, Ocean Quest, Movies, swimming, ect. He will have a BLAST! But.....be prepared to only see him at dinner. :goodvibes

With so many DCL experts on this thread, I am hoping that someone can answer this question:
I have never been on a Disney Cruise before. I am booked on the August 17 2008 Repo Cruise like the rest of you. I transferred my reservation to a TA. My TA found out yesterday that I am going on another Disney Cruise this summer (it is booked with a different TA). When she found out that I was going on a cruise this summer she told me that she thought I could apply the Cruise Ship booking bonus (that I can take advantage of if I book a cruise while on DCL this summer) to the 2008 cruise. I told her that I believe the Cruise Ship booking bonus cannot be applied to cruises that have already been booked, but she insisted that I ask. Does anyone know if it is possible for me to get a 10% reduction on the Repo Cruise?
Thanks

To my knowledge, and I could be wrong, in order to do this, you would have to make a new reservation, and since the Repo cruise is sold out, that would be unlikely to do. If the Repo cruise had not been sold out, then you might have been able to book the cruise onboard and get the discount, plus onboard credit. Also, if the Repo cruise was available to book during your cruise this summer, you most likely would be paying the highest tier price.

And as far as 'active' posters go, how to do we decide that? Do I exclude people like Caroline or Shelley or even Lisa or Todd who used to be very active but rarely are able to post anymore?

Anyway, let me stress -- THIS IS YOUR WEBSITE, not mine. Tell me how you want it and I will do it. I can't make everyone happy and we can't all vote but let's hear the general opinion and then we will make a decision.

Just wanted to say, :thanks: THANK YOU :thanks: for taking this on. It looks awesome and I appreciate all the work you are doing to make everyone's cruise more special.

I think at some point we were all "lurkers"........

I joined the DIS in 2002 to research my first cruise. I never participated in ANY conversations for almost two years. That did not make me weird - I was just totally uncomfortable with having conversations via typing (I felt the same way about emailing) with people . I finally took the plunge and joined in for the 2004 cruise meet thread which I had been *lurking* for quite some time. Even though many relationships were already established and I was very cautious in my postings, I was welcomed and invited to all activities that had been being planned long before I joined. I was also PM'd almost immediately with info to the cruises' "navigator". For this, I am forever grateful to those seasoned, veteren DISers that went out their way to make me feel welcome, because it really took alot of nerve on my part to jump into the fray. If had been greeted with some of the comments I read here I would have felt really bad.

As far as people lurking on this thread, FWIW, this is my take on it - Partipate as much (or as little) as you feel comfortable with. I think everyone should be made to feel welcome regardless of their post count. Some of the nicest, friendliest people I met on our last cruise did not hardly ever post on our meet thread. I never once thought to question why - just enjoyed their company.

JMHO - Peace :hippie:

Brack,

You are talking about my favorite stop at Downtown Disney. I usually go when it is less crowded. After or before peak lunch and dinner times. Someone mentioned that long double table that seats about 10(it is down by the cases that have the cold beverages).
I try to sit there because you can always pick up a conversation with someone. Then when I leave there it is a short walk to Ghiradelli Chocolate!!!!YUMMO(as Rachel Ray would say)!

Oh and by the way the food is good there!

Karen

Wow, I knew I would find some cruisers with like minds, but you must be following me. Lunch (or Dinner) at Earl of Sanwich topped off with a Dark Chocolate Hot Fudge Sunday at Ghiradelli is the only way to go! Last time we were ate lunch there it was about 3:00 PM and it was less crowded (I don't think I have ever seen it empty, at least not in the last couple of years). But with the meet being on a holiiday, all bets are off as to how crowded it will be.

Karen,
We are going to Colonial Williamsburg in August (with Disney!) and I am soo looking forward to it!! :goodvibes

Although I do have to do a conference call tomorrow morning with my boss (a British ex-pat) and two colleagues in the UK. I am thinking of opening the call with a recitation of the Declaration of Independence, just to remind them who won.)

OK, I dare ya!;) I am sure I can find someone here to double dare you.
You simply cannot turn down a double dare. :lmao:

:welcome: Welcome, Penny (and fellow Bay-Stater) :welcome:

Jump on in and join the fun

I hope I have reassured you that no one who has not shared their information has access and never will.

You will have to achieve a certain status on the DIS before you are given an ID for the website (in the same way you have to earn rights on the DIS to send PMs, post pictures, etc.). I know that may be unfair to those who don't join in the fray, but sadly, there are people who would try to harvest personal information to attempt identity theft, etc. I spent a lot of time setting up secure access -- I am not quite dumb enough to then just give out the IDs.

What has caught me off guard is that all of the information that was published was freely given by each of us for the purpose of the website (as page 1 of the thread used to say) so I was confused why people now are upset about the information being published when that was why we sent it in.

Certainly everyone has a right to change their mind and circumstances do change, however, so I will not use any information sent in to Lisa on the site. You will need to tell me if you want your information posted.

Now, would someone please post about rugby or maybe MR can be found to post about her gyno or something. You know, a more enjoyable topic. :rotfl:

I have been MIA for a few weeks -- 9ds is in 3 plays (2 different community theaters) in 2 months (1 was in June and he has 2 to go this month) plus I have 2 other children still at home! LOL! I hope to get some breathing room -- but, we leave for our Spirit of Amerca Disney Adventure in about 5 wks! So, we'll see! LOL!
I'm assuming that is why I didn't receive the information -- although I did get 2 blank emails from Lisa! LOL!
Dh and I have always freely shared our information (we've been online for 14yrs).
There has only been one time when I was *creeped out* and it was by someone here on the Dis. I do know that person was banned a few months ago but, I am sure he either is still lurking or is posting under a different ID. And he is probably on this cruise! LOL! I do know his *Best Friend* started posting more on one of the Med Repo cruise meets threads after he was banned..... This particular person spent way too much time *watching* Disers on our cruise and then came back and was very rude and said outright lies!

I hope I am included *in the loop* once again! LOL!

OK a Brack confession ......

I too am very shy and do not carry the conversation in a group usually. :confused3 My DW and my 34yo DS am utterly amazed at my participation in this forum and in the various meets on and off ship.

This sounds like my dh! He made a complete LIAR out of me on the 10night cruise! :rotfl:
I had told everyone that he is shy and probably wouldn't talk much! And what did he do! Talk to everyone! LOL! I've known the man for over 28yrs and I have never seen him talk that much! :lmao: He even talked to others first!!! We usually went on seperate shore excursions (and we each took at least 1 or 2 of the kids with us -- we have 5 kids) and he told how if he saw someone wearing the Dis lanyard he tried to introduce himself!!! :faint:
