Just hope you aren't part of the latest 4000..

Me too, although I really think I will be this time. I've dodged the bullet several times but my project is one of those that won't see revenue for a few years and that puts it right on the chopping block.

Yep that's my Cheryl, keep after her, maybe she'll listen to someone else, lord knows after 39 years she certainly isn't listening to me.

Oh Cheryl, I know you'll read this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

John

You know, if we keep making these type of comments about our spouses on here, we might just have to room together on the cruise. There are no couches in the lobby for me to sleep in.

Is anyone else planning to be down here this summer?

Arlene, I think that you know we will be there from 6/26-7/1. Tom31B will also be there around the same time. Time will be tight for us, but would love to see whoever we can while we are in Orlando.

:grouphug: Sorry for your loss.

Just to let you know--and the mortuary should know this:
The only service that will (knowingly) transport cremains is the Postal Service. They must be in a leakproof container and sent via REGISTERED MAIL!! We sent DFIL back to Delaware in his military urn from Mainely Urns
57561-2.gif

which we bought online. Hey, his urn with US Army medallion was $99 online vs. $350 from the mortuary! By law they have to let you use your own if you provide one. Actually, the mortuary lady told us that if we had wanted one of those porcelain looking vases then we should just go to Pier 1 and get one of theirs for 25% of what she would charge us!

Anyway, FIL's urn fit right nicely into one of those flat-rate USPS Priority Mail shipping boxes. This was handy because had we paid by weight, we would have paid triple the postage fees. Our friend who got the box said the mail carrier was sweating bullets because of all the stickers: REGISTERED MAIL, INSURED, DELIVERY CONFIRMATION etc. In case you didn't know, registered mail has to be sealed and postmark stamped on all edges, corners and seams! The carrier thought the box had gold or something!

My cousin mailed my aun'ts cremains form WY to OH. I thought she couldn't even Fedex them! Didn't know the USPS would knowingly do it. Than my other cousin didn't pick them up and had my uncle dropped them off on her front porch! Learn something new everyday. The box is alot heavier than you would think. We took my mom's cremains to OH and now my dad's cremains have been scattered in VA.

Thank you both! I had no idea there was so much red tape involved in first getting her cremated & then getting her remains here. One of my sisters is carrying her remains on the plane, but I don't know if there are any regulations for that. I know she does have a special box. :confused3

I just said, "Geez whatever you do...don't drop her!" My sister & I were cracking up today on the phone & my DH says, "I hope you're not that jovial when I die!" Well it's the Irish in us...we laugh to hide the pain! :rolleyes1

Sorry for your loss. I was hoping one day to meet your Mom here in The Villages. I'm flying out really early tomorrow morning to visit the kids/grandkids in Philadelphia. But I'll be back after June 20th and if I can do anything for you or your sister, PM me.

We'll be keeping your family in our prayers.

Barbara

:grouphug: Thinking of you.

So Sorry!:grouphug:

:grouphug: Diane: sorry for your loss:grouphug:

Thank you all for your kind thoughts!

:grouphug:
Love to you, Diane . . .

To you too Julie!

:rose: :grouphug: , to dear allshookup...., i'm so sorry for your

lost. :sad1: :flower3:. your wonderful insigts were a collection of some
very special memories. & we benefited from your reflections. thank you.

LG thank you for your words of wisdom! I couldn't quote it all here because I had too much, but your insight is always much appreciated! :flower3:

Somehow I think there will be lots of hugs, for the pain and suffering and the happiness and joy that has been shared on here, along with the pure pleasure of meeting each other after so many months!

I know you're right! :grouphug:

 everyone - ok - have been away for a few days trying to remedy (ok I really haven't) my situation but I have a question for anyone who cares to answer.

Who is doing the TransAtlantic Repo from Barcelona to PC on Aug 18-Sept 1?

I just got a call from a friend - she has booked me on this cruise on one of the last cat 12's. Since we are doing the Med July 28-Aug8 cruise - then flying to Paris and Paris DL for 1 week. Our originally scheduled return flight home was going to be Aug 15.

Well since the ships leaves Aug 18 - she decided to go ahead and book me one "just in case". This would mean that I would have to figure out what to do with myself for 3 days! (where to spend it at, Paris, Barcelona, Italy! London?) I now have a major decision to make. Should I go ahead and do it - I wanted to do it but was glad once I read the WB trip reports that I didn't. Now that the opportunity to go has presented itself. Can I really do this?????:scared1:

DD14 will have started her freshman year of high school. DH is saying its ok with him - he can't take off 5 weeks from work. (Someone has to make the money! :lmao: ) and yet - can I really be separated from DD14 and DH for another 2 weeks? I mean there is her first day of school and all. I have ALWAYS been there for the first day of school from Kindergarden. This would be the first time I wouldn't be there- even when I worked I went. Then again she is growing up. DH said that he'd figure out how to pick her up somehow.

Should I invite DD20 to come with? Oh my - decisions, decisions. And there is the added bonus of instead of having 23 hr days - we will have a 'few' 25 hr days! Can't beat that. But 6 days at sea? I'm hoping that as the summer progresses - the problems are ironed out which I'm sure they will be - but can I really do this?

How about it my 2nd family? Please weigh in - would love to hear all sides.

Remember - I just did the solo Mom's trip on Mother's day to FL from Thurs to Mon nite. That was easy but I was glad to be home.

Ok - I open the floodgates. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well...not going to get ketched up tonight...and my shift is over...slow night after 10:30 so I did make some progress here. Just a few things while they are still fairly topical on the past week or so.

I am scheduled for over 60 hours standby and a few priority during each week so far. Some days the jobs are steady but others I have taken a nap on the couch inbetween jobs before the kids get home from school.

I took the weekend off to spend with the family. Saturday we just relaxed & didn't do a whole lot after the initial morning cleaning. I ran to the Mall after we saw Shrek 3 and picked up a ton of the B&BW soaps for about 1.50 each. :) Sale was 5 for $10 and I had a 10 off 30 coupon. :)

Sunday we packed up the van early and headed for the beach. It was a great day...though I now have to search for our suits and coverups from the last day at CC last cruise. :( DD is missing a suit and princess coverup & a CC coverup and I have a suit missing. :( I ended up with a burn on my shoulders & upper back but DS was much worse. :( :( :( DH didn't put lotion on his back because he had a sleeveless shirt on and said that he wasn't going in the water. Well...guess who surfed on his boogie board for 4 hours? :( He broke out yesterday afternoon so I took him to the doctor today. Not sure if it is sunpoisoning or an allergic reaction to Monday's activities but he is on a strong anti-itch med now.

Monday we went to a friend's for a pool party/cookout. The kids had fun swimming with the neighbor kids. I worked that night.

The kids get out of school next Thursday. I have off Friday morning and we are going to the pool to celebrate!

Phew you're making me tired just reading all that! Don't work to hard Lisa!

Transcripts available for a small ($20 minimum) donation to my OBC account! :thumbsup2

And photo evidence is available starting at $50 for stills and $100 for a dvd! C'mon now, you know what a bargain that will be when a certain person lets her "Freaky flag fly"!!!!

:scared1:

Those are too funny! Last night at dd's softball game they started chanting'" Theres a runner at 3rd who has to go p** send her home!" All the adults started laughing. Than they went on to chant about the runner at 2nd who had to do #2! After that the coach gave them the evil eye and they quit. :lmao:

:lmao:

And even smaller plastic ones in the fru-fru drinks

Little teeny tiny ones. :goodvibes

No, but the women say they don't live longer than their husbands. It just SEEMS longer.

Oh yes J. R. that sounds much better......NOT! :rotfl2:

I guess that explains my warped sense of humor! I'm part Irish too! When my mom passed away, I almost broke into laughter when the funeral director brought out the cremains in a silver Hallmark type bag!

When my dad passsed away last summer I had to get at least one other sibling to sign off on the creamation form. That could be a Michigan thing.

Just knowing that your loved one is in a better place and at peace is a comfort.

Yep we have been talking about a Chicago meet. Are you close enough to join us? Cheryl was talking about Sweet Tomotes in June??

Well yes and no! I'm south of Detroit. So about 4 hours by car. I have been known to drive 2-3 hours to Indiana when the Powerball lotto jackpot is high. If it was a Saturday, dd and I could make a weekend out of it. Every now and then I get wanderlust and like to get out on the open road! :car:

That was a thing in Pennsylvania, too, which caused me issues because my brother couldn't be reached for two days -- his wife worked nights and had turned off his phone. The FD finally decided to go ahead with the creamation b/c he had done my dad and grandfather and other family members.

We will be just getting back from the Med on 9/1 and it really depends on our return flight home if we can meet everyone ...We would love to , we just have to see because we have Disney doing the Air for us , but if we have a late flight we will be there .....

I guess a spouse can have sole consent, but with surviving children it's different. Thankfully one sibling did sign with me, the other was being a pain.

um...which Med cruise would that be? Are you doing another one I don't know about? We're getting in from the Repo on 9/1, not 7/1

No one can make the decisions for you, but just so you know, there's quite a few of us on this cruise now. Myself, Todd (DisneyVegas1), Chris (Grandmax3) and Julie (Bellilnus)...maybe more, but that's all I can remember right now.
