Hey jonesing, I grew up in Torrance! OK, so it may not be the cultural capital of California, but the butt of California . I can think of a lot of other places that would compliment Lompoc's vapidity.

My sophomore year roommate was from Torrance. He had nothing good to say about the place! When his parents bought a house in RPV, then he suddenly got a major 'tude.

I will say one good thing about Torrance: Del Amo

Born and raised in Torrance, but have never lived there. I was born in Little Company of Mary Hospital, went to grade school at St. Catherine's on Redondo beach blvd and High School at Bishop Montgomery. I still spend most of my life in Torrance. Shop, movies, restaurants. I don't get what's bad about it?!?!? I love the remodel part of Del Amo. Ooh and King's Hawaiian Bakery!!!Yummy!!! My dream is to one day live in South Torrance, the "Christmas Lane" area.

I just tried again to book the cruise online. It's DOWN!!

And Redondo Beach & Torrance are LOVELY - only my home town of San Francisco is by far the BEST.

Laura - the other day Andy posted the "deal" for a Cat 12 for the Repo. So, I started thinkng about it - and tonight my family unanimously voted that Yeah "honey"/"mom"/"grandma" -GO!! So, it will just be me - IF I can get thru to book it!!!!!

Want to hear something ironic? DH and I are 'booked' on this one. However, DH has already said that he won't be making it. I just booked it that way so I wouldn't get charged the 175% for a solo traveler. I've had several nibbles for a traveling buddy but since its so far out nothing concrete. In the meantime, DH is starting to realize that he won't be going. He mentioned 2 days ago - "When is it? And how long are WE going to be gone?"

To which I revealed - "I'm going to be gone about 20 days."

I have to keep reminding him that he isn't going.

Hi Chris - I would love to say yes but as I know DH - he's done this to me before - on the 2005 EB Repo - up until the last minute he wasn't sure. DD is just trying to get things settled as she wants to go and is the only one of the kids not to go with me on a 'special' cruise. I won't know until about 100 days out. On the good note - you have until 91 days to cancel with 100% refund. Which I think is about May 15th???? If we're getting close and your still interested - I can let you know - but I'm in cat 10 or 9 not sure at the moment.

Doesn't hurt to get one - you can always cancel or find someone at the last minute if you want. I have a feeling it'll sell-out.

You, my friend, have a lot more patience than I! Had it been me checking in (probably with DW and an ever increasingly rambuncious DS1-going-on-13) I would have asked if she was bleeding or dying? "No? Then take your add to the end of the line before I tell my kid you stole his pacifier!" Kudos to the AM for offering lunch on the house like that.

We got married on NYE in Vegas! A million+ of our closest friends came along for the ride! If you go to Vegas keep a few things in mind: they close the Strip about 8pm-9pm to vehicle traffic, around 11pm or so the Strip hotels go on lockdown...only guests with their room key will be admitted (even for a potty stop), the crowds aren't that maddening but DW and I stayed with the more "sedate" party inside our hotel. IMHO Vegas had the better fireworks display as about a dozen of the Strip resorts set of a display from their roofs....but the SF display on the bridge was spectacular.

... I try to consider what irks folks to be so inconsiderate and - I truly believe most of the angry ones are just having a bad day or sufferring from something. Even if some folks are habitually like this - and / or do it as if it were a game - I still try to believe they have some kind of problem. And I usually take a forgiving perspective.

Reason being is I found when I was younger and full of beans I would respond to things like that - plus road rage was regretfully another issue. I was an agressive driver... and snappy half the time to slights or intrusions and inconsideration. In the process I had many occasions where I reflected on my contributory blame and felt some modest pangs of guilt. Plus some of the occasions where I reacted were ultimately judged to be foolish and inappropriate.... or so I thought. But still the next day I would respond to provocative incidents in the same manner!

Now I feel the most important thing for me is to not allow anything or anyone to spoil my moment or day. I feel genuine sympathy most of the time for folks who have lost thier cool and just vent. Having been in similar "uncool" positions - I know I could have improved on my conduct. And I get more satisfaction out of just watching folks vent and fume by themselves WITHOUT my particiaption. Plus I got kids - so I don't need to involve myself in anyone elses' non-sense given I have kids relying on me to look after them.

So... yeah... in the past I would have asked the lady to step back and wait - I'm sorry - or I would have just told her the same with my eyes and expression. Either way - I do very little of that now a days. However... I DO respond on ocassion to some kinds of foul conduct... and I won't say what. But I do "snap" ocassionally to what I deem to be inappropriate or severely out of line.

And as for LV versus SF for NYE... yeah... I'm not surprised LV runs a wilder show. All I gots ta say - is my spouse and I have not had the pleasure of attending either cities' festivities yet - but one day we probably will. Thanks for yer thoughts on the matter!

Okay Laura - the thougt just struck me - you probably don't want to room on a 14 day cruise w/someone you don't know!!! So - if you DO want to share the cost & room - perhaps we could get together and all before I go ahead a PAY for my solo room!!!!

all. DH talked me into joining the ranks. Was at the Disney store today and saw an Elizabeth Swan outfit (Asian one) for girls for $50. Plus the shoes and the headress...... It was beautiful, has anyone else seen it? My DD6 Austyn would make a beautiful Elizabeth.

Chris I think you and Laura are talking about 2 different cruises. I think Laura is booked on both Panama Canals and you are talking about the transatlantic.

OK why am I up at this hour? I am having my gas promotion this morning. $1 a gallon. Starts at 7am. Just spoke with my 3rd shift cashier--he said the customers have been driving him nuts all night. We have had police officers on the lot since 2am. Customers have been trying to camp out at the pumps since about 1 am. Each customer will save $38 today during the promotion.
