I'm hanging out in WV at camp. It is beautiful here. Lots of Dogwoods blooming. It's about 70 degrees with a slight breeze. :)

Thanks Brack as I sit in my office with the gray walls and awful green carpet. :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

Oh boy!!!!! DW just called....no, they haven't found her bag. Not only have they not found it, but it apparently hasn't been seen/scanned since leaving the DIA ticket counter. So the lady, Linda--head of baggage services, put a worldwide tracer out for the bag. Huh? What is that you ask?

Well evidently they were only searching within the airline's own baggage system for the suitcase. :sad2: As DW said, it was a NONSTOP flight DEN-PHL...where/when would the bag have time to get lost? Well the worldwide tracer is a BOLO notification sent to all airlines--worldwide--that if they find this bag, please, pretty please, send it back to us so we can send it to the pax. So yes, DW's bag could very well be on its way to Andrew UK's house via Qantas, Aeroflot, El Al and friggin' British Rail after connections in Paris, Berlin and Moscow! :furious:

Hi Helen :wave2:

Your SPT plays all the on-line games my SPT plays, so I have to ask, what is the new POC game? Is it an on-line game too? DD already says she wants to see AWE twice. Once at the movie theater and once at the drive-in when it opens for the summer. We saw POC II at the drive in on opening weekend last year. Nobody dressed up though :goodvibes . Hey, speaking of, do you ever go the Mendon Drive-in, Diane?

Go to Piratesonline.com & you will see all the info on it. It has not "launched" yet so I'm assuming they are waiting for the release of the movie. I think we got the link thru Disney Insider, but I'm not sure. Anyway, DS can't wait to start playing!

Mendon is over an hour from here, so we've never been. There are no Drive-In movie theaters anywhere near us. Maybe we'll have to take the trek one of these days.

Thanks for :dance3: with me about the house rental!
Now I have a few minutes for ketchup!

We're nervous. We haven't done this before. This isn't an investment property. It's our home - someone else is just going to live in it for a while.

Before it rented in record time I put some photos online, thought I would share the view from the kitchen window, 3 bedrooms and the front porch:
AKHOUSEVIEW.jpg

The river is about 1/2 between here and the base of the mountain, about 200 yards behind the house you see.

This is one of the many reasons why you have to listen to me grump about DC!

Absolutely stunning view! No wonder you don't want to move!

Flights can't be booked till Sept. at the earliest. (Sept. 19th seems to be ringing a bell)

The Passporter books have the 2005 version on clearance with info about a number of the Mexican ports

The summaries for posts 50,000 through about 55,000 have links to 2005 Repo info, pics of the ports, maps, and some independent tour operators.

Seasoned work traveller tip, check the hotel's deposit and cancellation policies. Most large chain hotels will let you book with no or minimal $ down and have a cancellation policy thats 100% back if cancelled more than 5 days out. Find the best deal you can, book it and then change if you find a better deal.
thanks! i did already get the passporter book...and i've started to read thru it! i think that is why i'm in planning mode!

The weatherman showed the rainy stuff just south of us. It is really nice out here in the low mountains. :goodvibes

It is getting cold here and damp. I have a fire going in the fireplace. Yesterday I had the A/C on. Go figure!!!

I don't think so. We are waiting momentarily to arrive in Williamsburg, VA. Security is really tight.

Hi John

Yes I've got another day off !!! :lmao:

In line with other posts and as I've told Cheryl before, I get six weeks a year + Public Holidays + Bank Holidays + Maundy Thursday + Queens Birthday + Flexi days as and when accrued.:rolleyes1

A Bank Holiday is a day when the Banks are closed so there can be no business conducted elsewhere. We have roughly five each year.

David

WE DO NOT ALL GET DAVIDS TIME OFF!
I think they should move this next one it means nothing really and we have another at the end of May, its like buses you wait for one and three BH Mondays come in a row.

The should either:-

Move this to St Georges day.

Or move it to Mid July and take the end of August one and add that to it so we have a long weekend in high summer.

You know, I don't really care! 6 weeks+ a year is nothing to sneeze at! The one nicety we have is getting off the week between Christmas and New Year's +/- a couple of days.

OK, I'm bored.
:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1
This is my first day of quasi-unemployment.
I'm 1/2 time for 2 weeks. I worked all day Mon-Wed, so I'm kicking back today.
That looks like the view from my backyard in Baltimore!!! :lmao:
Yeah, thanks for the help Brack.

OH, did she pack a camera? Maybe the suitcase can take pictures for you. I've always wanted to see Paris, Berlin and Moscow!

<Useless knowledge dump>

Actually, HRM doesn't have a passport! If you notice in most every passport, it is issued on behalf of some "authority" who asks that any nation being presented said passport to please extend every available courtesy to the citizen holding the passport. In this case, Her Britannic Majests IS the authority under which passports for the British Empire are issued and as such, she doesn't need a document asking for permission to enter or help from a nation---she can ask the nation directly. Same thing with US passports, the Secretary of State doesn't travel with a passport because she is the passport issuing authority for the United States of America.

As an aside, people traveling on diplomatic passport do not get fingerprinted anyway...that would cover everyone else in HRM's entorage.

What a view, I feel so sorry for you having to leave that for DC.

Brack--I will have to remember this if we ever get around to going through all our boxes of "stuff" that is stored away. We have "stuff" that we haven't seen in years.

Wow! Look at Jonesing. He knows stuff.

My favorite is that if you are wearing a really thin hoodie sweatshirt with a zipper, they make you take it off and put it through the machine because it is a 'jacket', but if you are wearing a really thick crew-neck sweatshirt it is a-ok to wear during screening.

One of these days I am going to wear a zip up hoodie and a pretty bra, so when they tell me that I have to remove my 'jacket' . . .

Those coconuts might come in handy again.

Now THAT I want to see! Especially if you do it at Regan National! popcorn::

<commando discussion alert!>
Anything that covers the final layer of clothing (other than underwear) is considered outerwear and they want you to remove it. But if you do only wear the hoodie you can tell them you're nekkid underneath and they'll either do nothing or the guys will climb over themselves to do the pat down search! When DW, DSIL and I were on our way to the Bahamas for a quick vacation, there was this girl in line: 20something, hardbody, very uh perky ;), flip-flops, white gauzey pants with some kind of tummy length gauze jacket. She looked a lot like this
cover.jpg

But this is what the outfit really looked like (1st row, 3rd photo and 2nd row, 2nd photo) except the Ujena robe would have to be cut to just below her, uh, firetrucks ;)
www.ujena.com/byname-clothing.php?vv=137

Alas she wasn't in our security line but I could easily see the screeners pulling her aside for a pat-down!

My forever house will have a gas stove.

Grill question: I like charcoal, but only on the weekends. We grill almost every day in the summer & once a week or so in the winter, so we have a gas grill for the speed and convenience.

Alright already! You're like the 4th person to say gas! I'll get gas again! DW will be happy because she didn't want to have to deal with charcoal cleanup.

Wait, so you're going back to the wilderness to live when you're done playing in DC?!?!? :faint: Just be warned that your DKids will get plenty of grilling: "Did you live in an igloo?" "Did you have to kill caribou for food?" "Oh is that your sled dog?" "When is your mom going to learn to drive...cars are different from sleds you know?" :rotfl:

hmmmm we have a similar view from our house...minus the thousands of trees, we have thousands behind us, not between us and the mountain.

I don't know about Brack, I think he might have been hittin' the sauce again...........:lmao: .............I've been through Baltimore many a time, and I've never seen any views like what M posted of Alaska..............:upsidedow

"Online, no Install" games ;)

and of course eBay, QVC, comics.com etc

OH, did she pack a camera? Maybe the suitcase can take pictures for you. I've always wanted to see Paris, Berlin and Moscow!

LOL no she was smart enough to take that with her. Maybe I should have stuck a GPS unit inside just to see where the bag went.

She did some shopping to replace the clothes that went on walkabout and she gave the airline rep an earful about their paltry allowance for paying the cost of lost luggage.

OMG Its beautiful

Were all going into the big town of Martinsburg to a Japanese Steak house. I'll check in later. :woohoo:

We went to Uno's for dinner. Our high school's National Honor Society was having a fundraiser with 20% of sales between 4pm-10pm being donated to their Operation Blessing fund. Tonight was the first time I tried Chicago Deep Dish Pizza, and I must say, I really did enjoy it..........:thumbsup2 I know we will be going back to Uno's again!!! :)

Say Tom & Andy

I don't know if DW mentioned it or not but we found a terrific hot dog stand in Denver!

Steve's Snappin' Dogs! www.stevessnappindogs.com

But the best thing is they use Thumann's
Banner_f2.jpg
hot dogs!!! :thumbsup2

There's a video on their main page.

Well now that I've put in way too much time here, I'm off to find something to eat and then clean the house! Woo hoo! Bachelor life is sooooo much fun! :lmao:
