For all the spouses that just don't understand the DISease and are apprehensive about the prospect of being locked in a boat with so many DISeased individuals, check this trip report out

kinda a funny take on things

I don't see where his parents can be completely faulted in this case. He was away at college. When I was at JMU I didn't have constant contact with my parents. I was paying my way thru school so I didn't have a lot of time to socialize between classes & working 40 hours per week. After they turn 18 the doctors can't contact the parents about anything. He was classified as an adult. The system was too messed up to stop him. His English professor tried everything they could to get him help. She couldn't force him to get counseling...noone could. When the judge let him go that was the last chance. They did what they should have. The gun sellers did what they were suppose to. That is part of why it is so hard ... it wasn't a case of noone ever seeing any of the signs of a problem.

I didn't really mean parents were completely at fault!!! I guess my opinion stems from some children on my block. I was fortunate to be a stay at home mom. I saw lots of things happen in my neighborhood as some children were growing up. I would see drug parties happening, and drinking parties after school. Twenty minutes before parents would come home, children would be vacating the house. The parents had no idea what was happening in their own house!!! I tried to approach one of the parents and tell them politely things were happening while they were working!! I was told" it could NOT BE MY CHILDREN!!! They are so good. " Several years later these children ended up in jail for stealing and drug pushing after the age of eighteen. I just think in the case of these children, there were warning signs and several neighbors saw this happening years in the making. Maybe if the parents opened their eyes, the childrens lives might have had a better ending!!!:sad2:

hi all! i'm signed into chat right now...but i have to browse these boards for a bit to find some info i'm looking for. while i was looking, i noticed...

Just a few pics from last night. Our ST got changed before I could get any pics of her in her Brigadoon costume, these pics were taken after the performance. Just as I was taking the first pic, someone bumped into me, I think the pic still came out kind of cool looking. My sis and niece had Angelina autograph their program books. Pic #2 is of Angelina with my sis and niece Teri, #3 is of the proud parents, and #4 is of Angelina with her BFF Trish and Trish's mom at the diner we went to after the show.

You have a lot to be proud of. :thumbsup2 The picutres were awesome!!!!!:goodvibes

Hi everyone! We just got back from Hilton Head. In hindsight I wish we didn't bother going. It was nice there, but the driving back & forth was very stressful. Especially on the way down when we hit heavy winds in the Carolinas. I did do quite a bit of the driving & actually most of the driving on the way home. Mike did get a chance to golf, we went on a dolphin cruise, we took a trip to Savannah for the day & ate at Paula Deen's restaurant, & otherwise just hung out at the pool. I never did feel really relaxed though & I think it was worrying about Mike's health & knowing we had to drive back home. Traffic was horrendous through Washington last night & through NY & most of CT today. As much as I hate flying....I've decided I hate driving so much more! :sad2:

Anyway...when it rains it pours. I hate to keep sharing nothing but bad news with you all, but I just got word that my mother suffered another heart attack. She has already had two major heart surgeries & she has emphazema which requires her to be on oxygen at all times. She is refusing treatment & has decided that she does not want to fight anymore. She has not been a happy person for a few years now & I think this is the final straw. My sisters are there with her, but the doctors say that if she is refusing breathing and other treatments, that she is not going to make it. It looks like I might be flying out to Orlando first thing tomorrow morning. I have not been close with my mother for some time now due to long standing issues, but I would not feel right if I did not have a chance to say goodbye. :guilty:

Don't know when I'll have time to catch up here, but I hope everyone is well! :grouphug:

Glad you and DH had a nice few days together!!! My prayer our ot you and your mother.

Ok - Apparently I am not just the Kiss of Death for my son's girlfriends but also the kiss of death for anything electronic - just got my first ever Ipod - got 2 new video ipods - one for DD-20 and one for me - hers uploaded fine - she didn't even use directions, DH, DD-14 and I went to dinner - DD-20 charged up MY ipod and when I got home - no charge - after about 8 hrs of trying to charge - I was able to finally hook up to itunes store and guess what?

A brand-new empty ipod that cost me $$$$ - its corrupted - DH yelled at me :sad1: and told me that everything I touch not matter what electronic I managed to corrupt! How sad is that:guilty: Now I have this complex - oh yeah - and the box had no software - had to go to apple.com to download a manual - what's up with that?

Anyway, I can see how this is funny but after a while - I just want to cry - was up until 5 am trying to figure it out - finally threw in the towel and packaged it up - I'm hoping that the store will allow me to return it - only bought it yesterday - not fair - what am I doing wrong? O

Ok - I ranted - thanks for listening!

Hum. Sounds to me like you got one that was DOA. It happens sometimes. Better now than after 24 hours of playing, which is the second time they die. You might explain the behavior at the store and see what they think. Particularly if there were parts missing from the box. Very suspicious. Definitely return it.

Thank Gosh - :thumbsup2 finally a little sympathy - was starting to believe it really was me  - anyway, trying to get DH and DD-14 in the car - I am a little obsessive when it comes to a new thing - I'm like the rabid dog that tasted something it liked and now can't get it - I'm like those Mervyn's commercials - Open Open Open - I'm gonna try that today - thanks for your advice!

Happy belated birthday from my family. I have been sooo busy at work and have not been on the board. Justine and Johnna are here and say Hi! Hope you had a great day. Only one more birthday before the TOAL.

Jack
HI Jack. Good to hear from you. Hope you are doing well.

Well, our ST is at the cast party and we were able to get the group photo and Angelina's "hot shot" pic tonight. I have attached the pics below. Of course, just like any ST, she doesn't like her pic................

Beautiful Pictures Andy!!!

Ok I was trying to play Ketchup...I gave up during the mid-friday posts.

I just want to say thanks for all the well wishes from everyone on the birth of my neices. I'm still dying to see them and hold them. Since they are preemie 5 1/2 weeks early (even though nice sizes 5.2lbs and 6.2lbs) They are still in the NICU. SIL came home yesterday. I feel terrible for her, I would not want to leave without my kids. They are doing really well, but probally wont be home until mid to end of week. They need to be drinking a certain about of oz before they will let them come home.

And more great news!!!
Ds Ryan came in 2nd place for the Derby at ESPN Zone yesterday. (2nd for tigers 6th overall) They only ran one race, and did it by time. He was very happy!!! and now has yet another trophy!!!!

1st place overall won an all expense paid trip by NASCAR to any of their races. How cool is that?????
Congrats to DS 2nd place. Not to shabby!!!!

Beautiful Pictures Andy!!!

Thanks Laura!!! I was also happy to hear that the pain med injection helped Elizabeth. I hope she can get the needed surgery done soon. I know how hard it is on us parents when the kids aren't feeling well. :grouphug:

Also

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDY!!!!

I know I'm a little late, but better late than never.

This is for everyone I've missed in the past few days/weeks while my computer was being repaired

I would like to suggest that ...

... its' better LATE then never.

Now that I'm beginning to catch up on things 'round here (off the DIS)...

it's time to see what I've been missing in the past 4-8,000 postings!

Well...

... I've been combatiung these gophers in our yard with apparently no success. I've bomber them a hlaf dozen times, tried poison, and now Ive begun water attacks. Now it's time to wait a coiuple days tosee if I got 'em or not!

AND... I am now off to pick up our new bunk bed and pick up some lumber to modify the bunk bed a bit. I think I'm gonna build a stair well for the upper level. As for the cabinet... I think I'll buy one from Ikea once I verify it will fit properly with the table height an' all.

Have a great Sunday everyone... Cheers,

Tom

I have a silly question; Is anybody, besides myself, worried that they won't be able to get this TOAL paid off in time? :scared:

I'm worried. :sad2: I just realized the lease is up on my civic next year and i'll need a new car.

If my tax return is the same next year as this year i should be ok.

Slightly OT but i just got my 401K statement (from my last job.) and for some reason the company put $253 in my account last quarter. Uh, i don't work there anymore....I'm not going to argue though...

It may be like the year before where the company made alot of money and they were giving me some kind of match based on what i put into the account for 2006. But still, i don't work there anymore... Oh well.

By the end of the day, I may have rented a house I've never seen before.

So where did you decide on M?

If you said Dalek you get 50% of the points as its 50% human, (and that’s American human as this is in New York.

Having just completed the first album, my daughter is really excited that there's another album to collect. :rolleyes1

Some of the Radio Times from when Doctor Who returned a few years ago are now very collectable :thumbsup2

Yes they are very popular, when people read any of my posts hear and they see a Dalek picture etc on my signature I get asked a lot about DW one from Australia many from USA.

Did you see MY MASTERS last night, and also the same refference MY MASTERS in Shakespeare code? also Mister Saxon (MasterNosix)?

Sorry for you on this, now I am sure I have read this post before somewhere, talk about Groundhoggs.

Could you supply your details to the July 28th thread, been making a list of Dissers going, see page 1 post 10, or page 93. Thanks.

Andy, thanks for the the hugs for Elizabeth. Just to clarify, the injection was a pain killer but it was only a few hours of relief because it was really just a test to see if when they injected her with a pain relief medicine did the pain go away where they injected her (in her hip socket). It was mostly for diagnostic purposes and it wasn't really mean to help her much. She really did enjoy about 6 hours of no pain but it was kind of like getting numbed at the dentist. Eventually it wears off.
She is back to being in pain. I call the doc tomorrow to set up a follow up appointment to go over all that will be required for the surgery.

Confession !!

My DS14 has recorded it for me as I was tidying the shed - I watched about 10 minutes and felt that I would never finish the shed so I will watch it on Tuesday.

I say my DS14 recorded it as I haven't learned how to reliably use a DVD Recorder yet

I though I'd mention this as I know you'll understand.

In Tesco on Friday, we went over the 11500 Tesco Clubcard Points total which means that on top of our vouchers from previous quarters, we now have the equivilent of £1750.00 OFF our Virgin Holiday to LA next year.:dance3:

Just have to wait for the brochures in July.

There's NO way I'm flying there for all that time in anything less than Premium :snooty:

What date are you thinking of flying out ?
