HELP! I need professional help. (there's a big suprise!)

I absolutely want to take the laptop to Turks and Caicos this summer. With all the trouble I had logging on in California, I don't want to rely on the Palm.

So......I need a WiFi card. Our condo says it has wireless internet, and I know that Boingo has a wireless hot spot nearby......I just don't know where to start.
Who do I buy the card from? Do I need to sign up with a carrier? Can I still access my e-mail from AOL?

There are two different things talked about on here, first is an "air card" which is basically a cell phone for computers and uses cellular signal to access internet. This can be accessed anywhere a cell phone can (more or less) but has a $45-60 fee per month. Looks like:

Then there is wi-fi which requires a wireless router and can only be used within a few hundred (maybe 150) feet of the router. There is no cost for this beyond your internet service. Many businesses have free ( http://www.wififreespot.com/ ) or fee access based wi-fi on their premises. It looks like this:

Before I head to chat...I just wanted to give you an update on Andy! Hazel just called & said they are about 60 to 90 minutes north of Ashland, VA & Andy hopes to stop there for the night. He is of course very tired since he's been up since 4:30am. She said MR is about one hour ahead of them on the road & traffic was horrendous through the DC area. I told Hazel to call tomorrow & let us know they arrived safely!
