...sometimes..i read..things..that seem odd...someone on the board..

someone cruise disney..who felt so strongly against kids?

..disappearing magnets? teenagers...perhaps..but pranks...to me,

We really enjoyed our lunch at Story Teller's Cafe at GCH - lovely and peaceful with a fabulous atmosphere, beautiful setting. Food was really good too - we had a great time!

We had a really nice dinner at Story Teller's a couple of weeks ago. The kids did a build your own pizza and DH & I had the buffet. Awesome service.

Excellent plan. That's what we always do. Except that we don't always have early entry due to having APs. But still, hit the parks at rope drop then wander over to Goofy's when everyone else starts waking up and coming in.

Early entry (Magic Mornings) is on Sat, Sun, Tues and Thurs.
Thanks for the days!

I think you guys are talking about different sales. You BIP saw a sale for $4 off. But Desiree saw the shirts priced at $10.95 (or maybe $11.95) but when she was completing her order (after 7pm EST), the price jumped to $19.95.
But mine were never $19.95 even before the $4 came off? They were $10.95 with the $4 off, without that they were $14.95. But then I decided to get ringer tees and put the name on the back and then with the $4 off they were $16.95 (the ringer tees cost more and the text on the back cost more)

Just a reminder, there are a few threads about DL dining over on the Pirate Zone.

DVC discounts

As stated early, the only must do for me is Goofy's Kitchen. They have brunch and dinner character meals, very similar to Chef Mickeys. There are other character meals, but this one has consistently been good for us. The only one I haven't tried is Storyteller's Breakfast with Chip n Dale. It always gets good reviews, but we just haven't made it there yet.

Blue Bayou is a must do really only for the ambience, not the food.

A consistenly good meal but not neccessarily a must do for us is Wine Country Trattoria in DCA.

The dining is nothing like WDW. You don't have nearly as many choices but it might be nice to have at least one PS every day so you wouldn't have to wait in long counter service lines.

You can very easily go offsite, either Downtown Disney or on Harbor Bl. Each location is the same distance from the front gates, DD on one side, Harbor on the other.
Thank you so much for all the info!

I have really sensitive skin, I pretty much burn under artificial light and break out for virtually any reason at all. I have found the best non-greasy sunscreen for me is Coppertone "Faces" - not sure of the exact name but its fabulous. Its lovely and soft, more like a nice moisturiser than a heavy sunscreen. I don't know if its waterproof though so you would need to reapply often if you are swimming or perspiring.
Thanks. I might have to try that although I really need something that works well when swimming and yet won't burn my eyes like the spray stuff does!

That is awful! Very dangerous too. My daughter was a back spotter and twice someone forgot to say drop or down or whatever it is and they fell on her face. She had glasses at the time, so that didn't work so well. Needless to say, she got contacts in February. There were a couple girls on the squad that were a little bossy, but nothing dangerous. She is very excited about band in high school and wants to do swim team for the high school, (she has already been swimming for 5 years), but it looks like our pool will close without some miracle happening, so she would have to swim for a high school that is 1/2 hour away. I don't think she would even do that, so I'm not sure what she will do. She is devastated about the pool. Even if she is having a bad day, she always comes out of the pool with a smile on her face. So disappointing. Glad your daughter decided to play soccer. I think that was a good choice. I wouldn't want to cheer with those girls either.
yes, it was dangerous- but instead of doing something about THEM and THEIR behavior- she basically punished my daughter by not using her as a topper hardly ever the last part of the year. 2 other girls ended up being toppers after that (it was the 3 of them with Ruby doing the "new" stuff or any stunts that needed only one topper) and by the end of the year they were doing all sorts of things she never got to do. All because the "popular girls" did not like holding her up and threatened her and dropped her a few times. I wanted her to do something about those girls or switch Ruby to the other bases that another girl was using so she wasn't with them- she solved the problem by just not having Ruby as at topper and those girls not having to be bases either. totally stunk IMO..... what she did was the only thing she could do if she refused to do something about those girls, I suppose. because that last time when they dropped her and she almost fell headfirst on the gym floor I was ready to spit nails and say she couldn't be a topper anymore anyway. But really I think she should have done what she SAID she was gonna do NEXT year (she said this at their tryouts parent meeting at the end of the year) which was to discipline THEM and if they can't act right- off the squad then!
They were all a clique- all knew one another all their lives, all friends, their moms and dads were friends, all went to gymnastics together, all popular, etc. Ruby didn't even know most of their NAMES (and the ones she knew the names was only vaguely- not like she talked to them before or something)- and she isn't one of those "popular kids" (primarily because I don't let her dress like that, wear makeup when they were younger, don't let her date yet, etc. like they all do) -so they pretty much ostracized her the entire year.... and the coach let them then punished her when they were risking her injury and did nothing to them for their behavior! *sigh*

We really enjoyed our lunch at Story Teller's Cafe at GCH - lovely and peaceful with a fabulous atmosphere, beautiful setting. Food was really good too - we had a great time!
sounds great!

Napa Rose at GC.
Price Range: $$$$ ($30 per person or more) *

Andy
uh.. no thanks. It's me and the kids- we can eat cheaper than that I hope!

What be the numbers so far for Capt's Dining and Traitor , err I mean Crews dining ...:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

pirate:
hey now- we can't ALL eat during Capt's dining! Atleast not in the same restaurant! LOL

Personally, I didn't think that Blue Bayou stood up to its reputation when we went. If you do go, you should request a "water side" table so you can see the Pirates boats leaving. We were at a table too far from the water and while the ambiance was nice, it would have been better closer to the water. Also, as a previous person said, the ambiance is what you're going to BB for, not the "great" food! :)

We stay at the DLH every year for a company expo and it's my understanding that you have to be staying at the resort to get in early. Or maybe AP holders get in early too. I have a contact at DLH that I can check with if anyone is interested and can't find out another way. It might take me a day, but she's typically pretty good. Just let me know.
I was looking online and if you look at the tickets for DL it mentions something about one early morning hour. So apparently with DL you can get that one time with a purchase of multi-day park hoppers? They wouldn't put that on the purchase of tickets would they? because like not everyone purchasing the tickets on their website would be staying at a DL resort- right?

Hi Everyone --

Huummmm .. . I've gotta say I'm feeling overwhelmed at this point. Seems like there is SO much to do yet and we're almost down to TWO months!! I've gotta get some time to make a spreadsheet or something!! DH is starting to get concerned about how much $$ we need . . .LOL. I'm glad he is FINALLY thinking about it . ..LOL He just figured out tips today . . . I reminded him how hard everyone works for us when we're on the ship. Anyway we look at it, we'll be relaxing for 15 days in a little over a month! Yeah!

Would love to hear how you're handling these last two months of preparation . . (I like the person who is watching their DS get his scuba certs! that's so cool!).

Well, off to sleep

Have a super day!
uh- here's how I'm handling it. Trying to go into denial anytime I start to think about it too much so I don't panic. LOL

Two great get togethers in one day! I was even in DL when one was happening and didn't even know about it. I did a quickie post on the board that we were going, thru some clothes in a suitcase, left in a taxi and didn't have any contact info for anyone. But, hey we had a great time.

Just wanted to post a picture a picture we took today. We were enjoying some Dole Pinapple Whip. :yay:

What do the other California DISers do when we can't make to DL for the DIS meet? We have our own DIS meet on the beach :yay:

Here's one from our trip - probably about the time that others were meeting up for the day.

Will plan better next time - we bought AP's - cheaper than buying 3 day passes for August and we get to go back - bonus.....:cool1:

Very nice Andy!:thumbsup2

ATTENTION
ALL PIRATES STAYING AT/NEAR
DISNEYLAND RESORT
PRIOR TO THE CRUISE

I just noticed my countdown clock is at 67 days and I know many of you are staying at/near DLR prior to sailing. Reservations(Priority Seating) for DLR dining can be made 60 days in advance. That would mean this week at some point depending on your arrival date. I would highly recommend making reservations for any of the character meals, sit down restaurants (in the parks or hotels), and especially the Blue Bayou. Disneyland Resort dining number is (714) 781-3463. They are open 7am-9pm PDT.

Thanks Roger! It seems like time is finally starting to fly by:goodvibes

I already sent bellenius a PM to sign up. Two questions though, should I label my gifts somehow so everyone knows where it came from - is that required? Also, can someone direct me to the FE link that shows how to make one? I am pretty handy in the sewing dept so I would like to make our own. THANKS!!!:lovestruc

I am pretty sure it is on the pirate discussion site. :confused3 I used the computer address labels--made it very easy:goodvibes

Thanks, but I will be on my way to Boy Scout camp that day. (Although after hearing about what happened tonight in Iowa, I will make sure my weather radio has batteries. It is a very night for Scouters.)

J.R. that was horrible. :(

Bought this for DS tonight

Found it by accident since the seller spelled cumberbund without the 'd'
When I lost a previous auction, my loser email had a list of similar items and there it was!

I really like that Monica:thumbsup2

Stepanie, hope you FIL is okay:hug:

Cheryl, have fun with the new car:goodvibes

Well, I caught up a bit. Had to go into one of the stores to try to fix a register. Everyone have a great Thursday:goodvibes

good_morning_comment_graphic_02.jpg

Goodmorning everyone! I did try to sleep a little, but I think I might've dozed off for a few minutes & that's it. Off to take DD to school for her long awaited trip to NYC!

I got confirmation from AirTran customer service that I would not be charged the fee for the second checked bag since I bought my tickets prior to April 22nd

We only have AirTran coming home, but at least I know now that I can shop without worry of extra baggage charges:woohoo:

I just got this information from them too. Won't have to pay on Frontier either based on purchase date :thumbsup2

Things got away from me yesterday so I couldn't post much (if at all, I don't remember what I did LOL). Stephanie, my thoughts are with your family, hope you get good news. Welcome to the newbies!

G'mornin' pirate:s
Can I just leave now and wait for all of you at DL??

What sad news about the Iowa Boy Scout camp. The four leaders who were killed at the Jamboree in 2005 were from our district in Alaska. That was a very long week or 2 - I had both a volunteer and professional relationship with our council up there. Very sad.

Certainly not as serious, but it reminds me of a very long night of my life. I worked at a GS camp during college summers. During storms, we moved the girls from our tents to the dining hall. So one night...after lights out, off we got to the dining hall. 4 of us have to get 20 girls (5-6 grade) and their sleeping bags across the camp to the dining hall. In the dark, during a thunderstorm. So we make that OK. That was our storm plan and the only storm plan we knew about after a week of training. Then, about an hour later the camp director and assistants show up in the 3 15-passenger vans and start moving all 100-150 of us to a school several miles away, by the van-full, no seatbelts, no sleeping bags, just shove kids in the van. It was insane and the counselors had no idea what was going on - just move! So I'm 18 and pretty freaked out at this point, but my job is to keep the kids calm and act like this is all perfectly normal. Found out the next morning that tornados were spotted very close to camp, so the county made us leave. When we got back to camp the next morning, canvass had be ripped off of some of the big heavy platform tents, kids stuff was everywhere, and a tree about 10 ft. from my tent had been struck by lightening. No one died, but that was quite a night.

BTW, I wasn't saying you were spelling it wrong. I was just saying that is how I always spelled it - cummerbund. Or in the words of Opus, cumberbuzzle.

DH calls it a crumbcatcher. I helps him remember that the folds/pleats face up.

Swimming or perspiring...so pretty much constantly on TOAL.

Has this made the thread yet .. If so ..sorry for the double post. If not... it's an interesting read about the cost of the Magic's commute!!

http://www.reuters.com/article/marketsNews/idCNTN1036416120080610?rpc=44

Can't wait to see the "Oh Carp This Is Expensive" fee added to our stateroom bill.

So the kids that are still in school, are they year round? I can't believe that if the kids go year round they don't have a/c... Who can concentrate when it's that hot anyway?

So far, in the last month my kids last day of school has been
Tues. 6/17 @ 3:30
Friday 6/13 @ 3:30
Monday 6/16 @ 11:20

I have no freeking idea when school ends and I gave up caring about a week ago.

At least when we went in 2005 there was some magical combination of hoppers and good neighbor hotel that worked. Maybe it was a package thing. I'm not sure, we stayed at HoJos and I know we had early entry.

The dining wenches will be finalizing our lists within the next week for Linked Dining.

The deadline to give us your information is Sunday June 15th. (kinda like tax day only in June;) )

All ye new pirates..... Please be reading the first post and don't miss out on the OOAL (opportunity of a lifetime) to dine with the Capt (Main dining) or with the Crew aka Traitor's (Late Dining.)

Instructions on who to "EMAIL" are on the first post of this thread.

Please send us:

Your DIS Name:
The last name of the main person on the reservation:
Cabin #: (If you are GTY; we need to know the number as soon as you do)
Total # in your cabin:
# of adults:
# of children: (give me their ages to if you might like to be placed amongst others with similar ages)

*****If you are travelling with one family in two cabins, i need both cabin #'s and main names. I also need the breakdown of who goes to what cabin.

REMEMBER YOU HAVE 4 MORE DAYS TO GET US YOUR INFO

Hate to be a gynormous pain but is there a way to verify you have my 2 cabins on the linked list?

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe post a list with the DIS name and the number of people in the party that are linked so far:confused3
Kinda like what Julie did with the FE ?
Linking our dining with you all is one of the things I am so looking forward to. I would hate to be left out by accident:worried:

So the kids that are still in school, are they year round? I can't believe that if the kids go year round they don't have a/c... Who can concentrate when it's that hot anyway?

Most of the schools here don't have AC.

Tyreak's last day of class was yesterday. He starts his finals and regents next week. After that he's done.

The last day for public school is June 26.

Check out this trip report.:scared1: :scared1:

I think i do have you Laurie...

hey now- we can't ALL eat during Capt's dining! Atleast not in the same restaurant! LOL

And why not.....

Crash will be so proud of me...................I really have been on the fence about the fish extender thing and was worried about the kids fighting over everything AND what to get to give to others and how to get 100 somethings in our overpacked luggage without breaking the weight limit.:(

Well.............the answer sort of fell into my lap the other day::yes:: . DH and I came up with a great idea - something every adult will appreciate at some point on our cruise :cool1: so we now have 108 fish extender gifts! They won't take up much space nor do they weight much so we are good there. I think I will use the advice of some others on this board and claim everything is MINE unless I deem otherwise to avoid the bickering.

Did we get an answer to this? I went through the boards but didn't see if someone said if the FE information is out here in a link or on the pirate zone?

Huh?

I'm left handed too. So is my maternal grandmother (though she was forced to convert), mother, and brother. I consider it my greatest failing as a mother - neither of my children is left handed.

.

Me too, lefty here, but not a single one of my 5 is a lefty. How does that happen, they were inside of ME yanno?

Time to order your Pirate Wristbands is quickley coming to an end!

Orders for Wristbands Are Now Open
and will close on Saturday, June 14th.

Basic Information.
Wristband will be available for .55 cents each. This is based on ordering 500. We have a head count close to 400, so extra will be ordered to get to 500. Who knows we may go beyond that!

Text on the wristband will read DCL 2008 PANAMA CANAL and have a small skull & crossbones on the left side of the text. (This was the winning text in the poll)

SizesWristbands come in 3 sizes:
L = 8 inches
M = 7.5 inches
S= 7 inches
To get an idea of the size you can cut a strip of paper to the above measurements and try it around your wrist. This will give you an idea of how it will fit once on your wrist. Remember the wristband will stretch to go over the wide part of your hand, but the paper strip won’t!

Colors
Choices are Red/Black or Lime Green (For the DIS fans, sorry Todd!)
You can mix and match sizes and colors. Just state the quantity of each size and colored desired.

Delivery
If you want your order delivered before the cruise I can mail them out to you. Up to 4 wristbands can be mailed in a business size envelope for 1st class postage. ( I will have to figure out postage on larger amounts)
Or I can deliver them on the ship or DL resort area pre-cruise.

Payment
If you would like your wristbands delivered on the ship we can settle up than. If you would like them mailed to you pre-cruise a check will work.

So please go to ORDER WRISTBANDS to order yer wristbands!

If I have forgotten anything, let me know!

Hope everyone is doing well this morning!

OK...later on TONIGHT.. i will provide list with

DISNAME (if none shown i will type part of the email address but not whole thing)
#of CABINS
#of people

and total for CAPT's dining at least. Our # be over 200 at this point but we have not filled the dining room.

Kristina,

I sent you an email with a question about linking. Did you ever get it?

Thanks,
Kim

We had a really nice dinner at Story Teller's a couple of weeks ago. The kids did a build your own pizza and DH & I had the buffet. Awesome service.

I'd forgotten about the build-a-pizza thing - DD loved this part.

Have a super day!

In order of preperation:

Hotel reservations pre-cruise in LA
Cameras, memory, batteries etc.
Specality clothes - tux accessories, t-****, swimsuits, diveskins
Cabin decorations - Magnets, Fish Extenders (and gifts)
Regular clothes - won't decide until late July (will see how diet works out)

As for the cost......as this is the TOAL. I don't expect to do this for a number of years (if ever again) and will amortize the cost appropriately. We dont' want to look back on this and say "If I'd just.....", as a rsult I expect the Amex card to take a severe beating once onboard pirate:

Andy

Yes, the coach should have done something about it this year. That isn't right to take your daughter out of the stunt. What is it about the popular kids that they think they are all that, but really aren't? It is too bad that happened to her. I'm sure it kind of ruined her cheerleading experience. At the very least, I think those girls should have missed a performance. Kicked off the squad would have been good too IMHO. I'm so sorry.

I agree. I think the first lunch seating starts at 11:00 or 11:30 - can't remember. If you make your reservation for when Blue Bayou opens you can request a water side table when you check in. Blue Bayou is not inexpensive either.

You can always request a water side table, we always do. There just might be a longer wait to get it.

When we went last fall, we had the early opening hour and stayed offsite. We bought our 5 day hopper on Travelocity. They told us the days and we could choose one, I think. Course DD always took really long naps and we were pacing the hall waiting for her to wake up... I told my mom "She doesn't get it! Why isn't she excited to go to Disneyland every morning?" Nevermind the fact that she was 7mo :rotfl2: I guess I should be glad since soon enough, she'll be waking us long before the sun comes up!

Did we get an answer to this? I went through the boards but didn't see if someone said if the FE information is out here in a link or on the pirate zone?

I thought when I asked about it a while ago, they said it was optional to put the "from" info on the FE gifts. I've heard that some people do and some don't.

I also sent Bellinus a PM to join the FE, but haven't heard anything back yet... :confused3
