I sorta know what she's going through. I dislocated my kneecap 8 weeks before before what we thought would be my last skating nationals. It was a pretty ugly dislocation and I was in an immobilizer for 6 weeks. I basically skipped the whole PT thing and jumped back on the ice 2 weeks before nationals and placed the same stinkin' 4th that I always did!

Oh my goodness. I can't believe that you posted about this.

My daughter is in a full leg brace right now with a dislocated knee cap. She is right now at this very moment at cheerleading tryouts but she can't tryout, so we made a DVD of her performances last year and handed it in tot the coach! Please everyone, keep her in your thoughts. She is such a hard worker and made Varsity as a Freshman (which no one can recall that happening in years and years) and did a great job. BUT, her last year's coach got fired and the new coach has no idea what she can do. So I am sitting at my desk with knots in my stomach praying that they give her some consideration and use the DVD that her and DS16 made. THINK GOOD THOUGHTS FOR HER, PLEASE!!!

Anyway, since you brought it up though, what is her long term prognosis? She should be able to get the brace off in about 2 or 3 week...thanks!!!

Okay, I will try to calm down...go Sarah!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

As I look at this graphic after posting, I realize I probably should have posted some kind of warning for epileptics -- I didn't really appreciate the strobe-like quality until I posted it and realized how annoying it is! My apologies.

eyes rolling in head...body jerking on floor...thanks alot Julie :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

How, where or when, condition or reason, these questions are answered, when you use an adverb...

(DS11 had homework the other night where he had to name the italicized part of a sentence and he asked me to help him figure out what one of the words was and it was an adverb and I started singing this song. He looked at me like I was from the moon. So I broke into a chorus and two verses of 'Conjunction Junction' and ended with 'He made a connection in the other direction and the crowd started shouting out interjections -- Aw! You threw the wrong way! Darn! You just lost the game! Hurray! I'm for the other team! and ended with "Darn. That's the end.")

i cemented my "uncoolness" with the kids when I sang congunction junction to them .

This would be a good application for your duct tape.

I probably truly don't belong on the Dis, because I have never traveled with duct tape! When you find I never post again, realize that I have been unceremoniously escorted from the Disboards and told never, ever to return . . .

eyes rolling in head...body jerking on floor...thanks alot Julie :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Well, at least it was you, Lisa . . . maybe it was the strobe quality of my graphic, but then again can you prove you weren't just dancing to the Clash?:goodvibes

Conjunction Junction, what's your function?
Hooking up words and phrases and clauses.
Conjunction Junction, how's that function?
I got three favorite cars
That get most of my job done.
Conjunction Junction, what's their function?
I got "and", "but", and "or",
They'll get you pretty far.

"And":
That's an additive, like "this and that".
"But":
That's sort of the opposite,
"Not this but that".
And then there's "or":
O-R, when you have a choice like
"This or that".
"And", "but", and "or",
Get you pretty far.

Conjunction Junction, what's your function?
Hooking up two boxcars and making 'em run right.
Milk and honey, bread and butter, peas and rice.
Hey that's nice!
Dirty but happy, digging and scratching,
Losing your shoe and a button or two.
He's poor but honest, sad but true,
Boo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!

Conjunction Junction, what's your function?
Hooking up two cars to one
When you say something like this choice:
"Either now or later"
Or no choice:
"Neither now nor ever"
Hey that's clever!
Eat this or that, grow thin or fat,
Never mind, I wouldn't do that,
I'm fat enough now!

Conjunction Junction, what's your function?
Hooking up phrases and clauses that balance, like:
Out of the frying pan and into the fire.
He cut loose the sandbags,
But the balloon wouldn't go any higher.
Let's go up to the mountains,
Or down to the seas.
You should always say "thank you",
Or at least say "please".

Conjunction Junction, what's your function?
Hooking up words and phrases and clauses
In complex sentences like:
In the mornings, when I'm usually wide awake, I love to take a walk through the gardens and down by the lake, where I often see a duck and a drake, and I wonder, as I walk by, just what they'd say if they could speak, although I know that's an absurd thought.

Conjunction Junction, what's your function?
Hooking up cars and making 'em function.
Conjunction Junction, how's that function?
I like tying up words and phrases and clauses.
Conjunction Junction, watch that function.
I'm going to get you there if you're very careful.
Conjunction Junction, what's your function?
I'm going to get you there if you're very careful.
Conjunction Junction, what's your function?
I'm going to get you there if you're very careful.

My very fav schoolhouse rock:

I'm just a bill.
Yes, I'm only a bill.
And I'm sitting here on Capitol Hill.
Well, it's a long, long journey
To the capital city.
It's a long, long wait
While I'm sitting in committee,
But I know I'll be a law someday
At least I hope and pray that I will,
But today I am still just a bill.

why are the peas circulating the brain ??

You know if you don't chew your peas properly, that is what happens . . . so attempting to "eat your vegetables" when told to by just swallowing them as pills (as I distinctly remember doing as a child) results in having them circulate through the cerebrospinal fluid, possibly resulting in seizures . . . explains a lot about me, doesn't it????:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

You're being reassigned to the shunned section of the ship. You'll be in good company.

Thanks, I guess that you won't be getting my extra lobster tail. :rotfl2:

Well, there was never any chance that Cheryl was getting my extra lobster tail anyway. Like there'd even be an "extra" lobster tail.

I guess this was on the Today show, but when sports news seems to be dominated by steroid hearings, overzealous parents, dog fighting, gambling scandals and a Cincinnati Bengal's roster that could fill a whole season of "Cops", it's a refreshing story:

I saw that this morning on the Today Show. What a great story!
