It only seems that long..... I clearly remember Flyers winning the Stanley Cup back in say 85 or was that 86....

THE CURSE OF BILLY PENN

PHILADELPHIA THE CITY OF BROTHERLY LOVE
HAS THE DARKEST SPORT CLOUDS HANGING FROM ABOVE
SINCE EIGHTYFOUR OUR TEAMS HAVEN’T WON A THING
NOT A SINGLE TITLE NOR A WORLD SERIES RING

THE EAGLES AREN’T FLYING NEITHER ARE THE FLYERS
THE PHILLIES AND SIXERS MAKE THE FANS TOWN CRIERS
WHEN THE FIRST SKYSCRAPER FIRST WHEN UP
OUR FLYERS LOST TWICE IN THE STANLEY CUP!

CHORUS

A SPELL HAS BEEN CAST ON OUR FAIR CITY
BY FOUNDER WILLIAM PENN IT ISN’T PRETTY
THE WINNING WAYS OF OUR TEAMS ARE GONE
THE CURSE OF BILLY PENN IS ON!

WHY EVEN THE LIBERTY BELL HAS LOST ITS CHIME!
OUR TEAMS HAVE ALWAYS WON BEFORE THAT TIME
WILLIAM PENNS’ STATUE STANDS ATOP CITY HALL
HE ONCE VIEWED ALL NOW HE SEES A WALL

OF SKYSCRAPERS RISING AT SUCH GREAT PACE
OUR CITY’S FOUNDER HAS LOST HIS PLACE
WE HAD A PROUD TRADITION NO LONGER TRUE
NO BUILDING HIGHER THAN HIS HAT OR VIEW

REPEAT CHORUS

EVERY SEASON’S LIKE RIDING PRONE IN A HEARSE
TO THE GRAVEYARD OF DEFEAT NOTHING’S WORSE
COULD WE JACK UP THE HEIGHT OF CITY HALL
SO HIS EMINENCE COULD BE TALLER THAN ALL?

HOW ABOUT HIM ATOP ONE LIBERTY PLACE?
WOULD HIS CURSE DISAPPEAR WITHOUT A TRACE?
IF WE BUILT ALL SKYSCRAPERS UNDERGROUND
ONCE MORE HE’D HAVE A GRANDVIEW OF HIS TOWN!

REPEAT CHORUS repeat NOW THE CURSE OF BILLY PENN IS ON!

So you are booked to get cleansed with the medicine man in PV, are you Andrew? That will teach all those specialists who have been trying to figure you out in the UK!

With my luck, I'd see the medicine man and the "cleansing" would hit about the time of the beginning of the deck party! :rotfl2:

So does that mean that you are NOT planning on this exclusive excursion, Mike?;) . . . or only that we should stay away from you at the deck party at PV?:lmao:

I have no idea what is going on thread wise but remember how much the topic of the kids missing school had been discussed back in the day before we even had had reservations on 1/31/07 so thought that I would pop in and share the info that I got today when I talked to the principal about the kids missing the first week of school and what to do as far as contacting their teachers and such. The principal told me that the kids are not counted on the roster until they set foot in the school that school year ... SOOOOOOO ... that means that they will be marked as "no show" until they get back and that is not an absence!!!! We donot have to rush back on Labor Day now and it will be less expensive for us to get a hotel room in Florida and get an early morning flight out of Orlando on Tuesday. Hopefully this will be the case for many of you with kids.

That is great! Hope it works out for some others the same:goodvibes

Obviously back from surgery. Went well. Except for the fact that the surgeon was 2 1/2 hours behind- it would have been perfect.
I had 2 little bumps on my forehead that bugged the heck out of my forever. I assumed they were clogged pores or something. They sedated me long enough to pump my face full of a local and then "woke" me back up. As soon as I awoke I felt something on my forehead. God love 'em! He saw them little suckers and just got rid of them. Then I had a tiny skin tag on my eye lid (weird, huh?), anyway he took that right off too.:thumbsup2
And my nose looks pretty good through the Zeroform. Maybe this sage is on its way of being over. Yay!!

Coral, sounds like you have a wonderful doctor:flower3:

OK guys - sorry - been busy with life - just a quick question - in between trying to vacuuming the living room - how many of us might be able to attend a last minute meet at WDW? Say either Thurs (5/8 or Fri 5/9 of May? I know its short notice but here's my story:

DH finally got plane tickets, finally got around to calling DVC - everyone is sold out of rooms except for Saratoga Springs - ( I know - nothing like waiting for the last minute) and a 1-bedroom to boot.

I know that we will be flying in on Wed, May 7 meaning that since I board on Saturday - I cannot do a Sat get-together.

I would be willing volunteer my "room" for a quick get together if there is enough interest - figured it might be a bit more comfortable than Earl of Sandwich or another place. So with a bit of extra room - why not make the best use of it?

I know a while back I asked and Arlene said she was local and might be able to attend - does this sound good to anyone else? Esteri - too might be up there I think, I will try and go to chat tonight seeing as I will be a poker widow yet again - Tuesday is DH's bday and I gave up a week of not nagging him and allowing him to play w/o guilt. Anyone know how hard that is? :rotfl2:

Anyway, will check later.

we are free!!!!

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

We're up for another round - maybe this time we'll find a ........peanut (seemed like a better choice than the other choice :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

::yes:: this happens all the time - I always wondered if it was safe to touch the crumbs - never thought about vacuuming....speaking of which - got to get back - I'm so easily distracted. :sad2:

OK folks - the light is on - but I'm out saves time in case I get another bright idea!

Always vacuumed. Never touched the nasty insides :lmao:

Just made appt to see Dermatologist. All this talk got me concerned about a few things.
Glad the worst is over and you got the extra to boot. I had a fatty deposit (forgot the med term) on my eyelid and it was taken off but the scar is still there. I think it was easier to cover it before:confused3

Glad to hear about the kids with missing school. Hope it workes that way for everyone.

Lisa - DH and I met with both our kids principals and we were told the same thing. They both were very supportive of us going on this trip and since both kids are straight A students told us to go and not worry. We did plan our flights out to LA so that we would be able to go to back to school night and have emails from both principals to present to the teachers so they know we did discuss with principals in advance. My kids will miss the first two weeks of school but really will only miss one week of academics because they dont really do anything the first week (thats out of the mouth of the MS principal)

Most, if not all, airlines are charging for meals these days. They aren't outrageously expensive, but you can get better carry on food in the airports in most cases
Thanks. That's what I thought. I get cranky if I go too many hours without food:guilty:

I am alive but barely. Somehow I injured a disc in my neck and has been really giving me problems. I have been reading along just have not felt like posting. It is getting better, just slower than I want.
Ouch:headache: I had the same thing several years ago. It took rounds of steroid treatments before it healed. It does take a long time to heal. Hang in there:hug:

Wow, I like your doc:thumbsup2 Mine don't do anything without being asked:confused3 Too bad they didn't phone you though to let you know he was that far behind. Glad it went well though:thumbsup2

:wave2: Hi Lisa...glad to hear things pulling together for ya. My DDs must be in the minority...their school doesn't start until after Labor Day due to our county fair...so they won't miss any school. Of course, they don't dismiss them for summer until the 2nd week of June.

They don't get out until June 10 this year. Last year they moved the start from 8/5 to 8/25 so that pushed it back from mid May to June. :( Back when I was in school we didn't start until after Labor Day too.

When people were posting last night that flight fares had gone up i went to look at mine, with British Airways, thinking I would see who much they had increased.

Wrong, I was very bummed :scared: to see they had fallen considerably in Price and were far cheaper than the price I had paid in September last year in full. Non refundable.:sad2:

Now it is bad when you buy something at a shop and its a couple of hundred cheaper a week later in a sale, but we are not speaking here of a couple of hundred pounds.

I sent a e.mail to BA, no response as yet, but..... during the day the price went back up on my flight, but not on the other BA flights that day.

Glad I am back with Virgin next year, my guess terminal 5 has hurt them hard :guilty: and they had to discount a lot.:sad1:

Andrew.........United gives vouchers if the fare goes down before you travel. I hope BA will do the same for you.:flower3:

:woohoo:

Any guesture from them would be nice, I know I booked it at the higher price so must have been happy with that at that time but over £2,000 is a lot of money, vouchers or something to ease the pain would be a guesture.

Happy Saturday everyone

We missed ya! And thanks fer the info on the kids school. I asked just the other day about this very thing - ans was told almost the same thing. Only ... it did not occur to me to post the info here. Cheers for spreading the good news.

Yes Lisa welcome HOME! (Well the 'sixth' home actually).

I must say I am not holding my breath, its non refundable, Wonder if Celestine, has noticed hers?

BA have my money, I just wish I hadnt checked it.

I just tried calling BA customer service - I figure my spouse has me do ALL her "dirty work"... and today was no exception. I somehow get better results when she's already been denied. Today I sweet talked my way into what my spouse hoped for but was denied when she asked.

At any rate - our US BA office is closed as of 1AM Eastern standard time... so I'll try again after 4AM my time cuz thier offices will reopen at 7AM EST. I'll get you ONE opinion Andrew because I am curious as to what they'll tell me.
