OK guys - sorry - been busy with life - just a quick question - in between trying to vacuuming the living room - how many of us might be able to attend a last minute meet at WDW? Say either Thurs (5/8 or Fri 5/9 of May? I know its short notice but here's my story:

DH finally got plane tickets, finally got around to calling DVC - everyone is sold out of rooms except for Saratoga Springs - ( I know - nothing like waiting for the last minute) and a 1-bedroom to boot.

I know that we will be flying in on Wed, May 7 meaning that since I board on Saturday - I cannot do a Sat get-together.

I would be willing volunteer my "room" for a quick get together if there is enough interest - figured it might be a bit more comfortable than Earl of Sandwich or another place. So with a bit of extra room - why not make the best use of it?

I know a while back I asked and Arlene said she was local and might be able to attend - does this sound good to anyone else? Esteri - too might be up there I think, I will try and go to chat tonight seeing as I will be a poker widow yet again - Tuesday is DH's bday and I gave up a week of not nagging him and allowing him to play w/o guilt. Anyone know how hard that is? :rotfl2:

Anyway, will check later.

I have no idea what is going on thread wise but remember how much the topic of the kids missing school had been discussed back in the day before we even had had reservations on 1/31/07 so thought that I would pop in and share the info that I got today when I talked to the principal about the kids missing the first week of school and what to do as far as contacting their teachers and such. The principal told me that the kids are not counted on the roster until they set foot in the school that school year ... SOOOOOOO ... that means that they will be marked as "no show" until they get back and that is not an absence!!!! We donot have to rush back on Labor Day now and it will be less expensive for us to get a hotel room in Florida and get an early morning flight out of Orlando on Tuesday. Hopefully this will be the case for many of you with kids.

That is good to know - hope it works out for other people too.

BTW, since I've been gone for a bit - not sure if a possible get-together was mentioned - hope I didn't step on anyone's toes or plans. My apologies if I did - guess I spoke w/o thinking....YET AGAIN! :headache:

Later :wave2:

Whatever you do, DO NOT look in his backpack.
In my world, school folder and library books go in. School folder and library books come out. I'm afraid to dig any deeper.

This is Soooo true! I had to get some of the c**p out of DS's backpack just this morning - they are having a talent show in his reading class and I had to get his step-dance shoes into the backpack, so some of the garbage had to come out! :rotfl2:

Pamela

So its not just my boys! Phew!

My DS8 has a helper come in his class once a week to clean out all the carp he has in his desk. The bookbag is usually overflowing then.

I don't think it is just a boy thing. I actually vaccuumed out dd's back pack a couple of weeks ago! I was fishing around for any notices and there seemed to be a layer of crumbs in the bottom of both the main section and the little pocket. :scared1: DD looked at me like I had lost my mind, but I knew I could never get all of it out very good. I've found petrified cup cakes and other goodies gone bad! :scared1:

Lisa glad to hear that great news! I have been talking to potential teachers for next year and none of them have a problem with the kids missing school for this experience. I need to approach the appropriate administrators in the next couple of weeks giving them official notice. I hope that our school district has the same opinion about absences.

I will be there

We're up for another round - maybe this time we'll find a ........peanut (seemed like a better choice than the other choice :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

::yes:: this happens all the time - I always wondered if it was safe to touch the crumbs - never thought about vacuuming....speaking of which - got to get back - I'm so easily distracted. :sad2:

OK folks - the light is on - but I'm out saves time in case I get another bright idea!

Just a friendly reminder that you can donate every 56 days, so if you are eligible, you can donate twice between now and cruise (maybe 3 times if you time it right...)Its not clear if any of the areas would qualify as disqualifying you from donating blood, but you may want to inquire and donate before hand if you can.

Thanks for this. It was my plan to donte as many times as possible since I will be out a year.
This just occurred to me. Now that I have had "cancer" (I guess even the baby kind counts) Can I now not donate? I would be so upset since I have donated regurally since I was 18.

OUCH! Sorry to hear this, Roger. Hope you feel better soon.

I donated about 2 weeks ago, and there was pretty big laundry list of countries that you cannot have visited. I didn't think to look for any of our port countries, since I haven't been there yet. I thought someone posted a while ago that Cartegena would make us ineligible to donate for a while. If anybody donates soon, let us know if Colombia or anywhere else is on the list.

They definitely told me last time Colombia knocked me off this list for a year.
Last time I went to aruba it did as well.

For some reason I thought you were not on this cruise anymore. :confused3
Glad you are back. :thumbsup2

Yep, I found out the same thing when I inquired about the girls missing school.
I went ahead and pre-enrolled them but they will not actually register them until they show up for the 1st day. I thought that was just TX law but either Federal or more states. I love loop holes!:lovestruc

Obviously back from surgery. Went well. Except for the fact that the surgeon was 2 1/2 hours behind- it would have been perfect.
I had 2 little bumps on my forehead that bugged the heck out of my forever. I assumed they were clogged pores or something. They sedated me long enough to pump my face full of a local and then "woke" me back up. As soon as I awoke I felt something on my forehead. God love 'em! He saw them little suckers and just got rid of them. Then I had a tiny skin tag on my eye lid (weird, huh?), anyway he took that right off too.:thumbsup2
And my nose looks pretty good through the Zeroform. Maybe this sage is on its way of being over. Yay!!

I have finally caught up!

DD and I went to Goodwill today for an outfit for a play she is doing..found that but she also found a skirt and shirt that will work for her pirate outfit..she is very excited!

Call DCL today to inquire and make sure that they show we are PIF so that there are no surprises on the 4th..I was informed since I had a TA - I would need to call her. I asked if she could call in..they said no..she would know if she made the payment? :confused3 I told them I know she made the payment..I got a receipt. I wanted to make sure it was applied correctly (had a problem before) and that I would be able to book excursions. Nothing..nada..zip..oh well..it was my daily entertainment! :rotfl2:

My wish list did work so that was good.

Question for anyone who has been to Acapulco - I am terrified :scared1: of other people driving .. (bad car accident etc..) can anyone who has gone to the Cliff divers tell me if the roads to get there are sheer drop -offs etc? We want to go on the excursion but I am scared of the roads being to ..well..scary!

Cartagena scares me too ..working on that one.

Thanks!

Desiree

She couldn't argue with the fact that the kids will be learning a great deal more going through the PC than they would in class the first week. :) This just takes the stress away about deducting the 5 days from the 15 they are allowed for the year.

I asked if I had to withdraw them at the end of this year but she said no. :) Now they will still be assigned teachers based upon the advice of their current teachers. :)

I never cancelled the cruise...just got very busy with life. DS's therapy, battling with the superintendent then deciding to move to the school district we wanted instead of continuing the fight legally so the kids would be moved ASAP, moving, unpacking, unpacking, unpacking, combined with working 70-80 hours a week has left me with very little "free time".

And getting rid of the "extras" while there too!

SO I'm gone for a while, and you guys try to hide from me! :confused3
;) ;) ;)

Trying to stay on top of things. Feels like I'm mountain climbing and keep slipping forever downward. Still alive, though....that's something to be grateful for. And still CRUISING...that's even better!!!

hey Stace, been wonderin' where you were!!

Hi Paula! How are you! How's the family?:)

Hi Pete, We are all fine. Trying to get ready for this horse race coming up a week from Saturday! I just don't know where the time goes. Sounds like you are keeping busy making some other wonderful pirate clothes. Tell Johnna and the girls we said hello

I am only about 3 1/2 threads behind. I figure that this is a good time to jump back in since it is the start of a new thread.

Jennifer you have been in hiding. Missed you around here:goodvibes

I am alive but barely. Somehow I injured a disc in my neck and has been really giving me problems. I have been reading along just have not felt like posting. It is getting better, just slower than I want.

Oh Roger, hope you get to feeling better. Those discs whether in your neck or back can really do a number on you:hug:

Happy Friday:woohoo: . The kids are off from school this week and they couldn't have asked for a better week with weather. Everyone is out riding bikes and playing ball - it really is nice to see.

Glad you all had beautiful weather:goodvibes

Don't know if I'll make chat because we are invited to a cook out this evening. Happy Friday Everyone!!!

Hope you have a great time:goodvibes
