Private Cabana, anyone?

Only one reply to that,

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh Nuts!

Just wanted to pop in and say hi. Since I pretty much missed the whole previous thread! My laptop arrived on Monday and I am just getting to it today. Sadly it has 2 big scratches on the screen. Called Dell they are shipping me a new one. Work has been out of controll. We just had our conference on Monday and Tuesday at the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay. Now I need to catch up on 2 weeks worth of work I put on the back burner to deal with conference stuff. I will be happy not to use PowerPoint for a month.

Off to see if I have a room yet or not. Still hoping to downgrade to a 11 or 12. I think I got 8 pm dinning, need to double check this weekend. They said something about it when I called on Tuesday. They said the best chance for my downgrade will be on 5/19. I am only doing it if it is cheaper than what I am paying now.

Hope all is well with everyone. Hope to check-in more frequently once I get my life back undercontrol (stupid work). I can't believe May starts this week and we only have 23 days till we watch the fishes.

Good Morning All!
I have a question. A few people have mentioned bringing their own food on to the plane. I thought the new rule was you could not bring food through the security checkpoint. Are you buying food in the airport and carrying it on?
When all 31 of my family went to Alaska I stopped by a French restaurant (La Madeline) and got a ton of chocolate croissants. The airport screeners were kidding us that they might not make it through since they smelled so good. :)
I know water a no-no but I thought food was too.

You can bring food, not liquids, through the security checkpoints.

We'll probably pick stuff up in the airport for breakfast but pack stuff for lunch.

.

I flew last weekend. The Orlando, FL and Huntsville, AL policy seemed to be you could bring food on the airline that was purchased in the aiport after you passed thru security.

I can tell you the individuals in Huntsville were very aggressive in checking (and throwing away) items they deemed dangerous. Lisa (and many other gymnasts) forgot they had water bottles in their competion bags since we were all hurrying to the airport since the meet ran late. The security people went thru each girls bag and threw away water (no big deal), hair spray (small), glitter (considered flammable), etc. Lisa lost her water and glitter. I guess that means I will have to buy more in the next few weeks prior to Nationals. I don't think she "could compete" without glitter in her hair. (I tell her I think the stuff is embedded in her head no matter how many times she has washed it. 10 years of glitter has definetly left some residue!!):rotfl:

This is one entertaining and elegant animation!

All I add to this is a little music to relax with....

ScreaminSquirrel.gif

So in a few minutes we're hooking up with friends to visit a spring festival of sorts at
a local Church. It's open to the community and we're gonna check it out.
Tomorrow we're gonna catch The NIM Adventure with a couple of Juliannas' girlfriends then
we'll head over to a working farm (Underwood Farms) to pick veggies and fruits and
take in the country experience with the animals and a Tractor ride.

Than, Paula....I have teh big round table reserved at Buca De Beppo for supper.

<wink>

It has been wonderful! Our program had all outdoor fieldtrips this week and it has been amazing! (Though I have sunburn arms and face...I used 50spf and it did NOTHING!)

I am thinking the beverages pushed you over! I can't believe the week is over! (I am sure you are glad it is!)

:lmao:

Love Arby's Sauce!!!:lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc We don't have many around here anymore....so it is a real treat when I get it!

Chrissie

There are no Arby's up here on the north shore, but we have the best roast beef place right in town. It is REAL, served rare & so tender it melts in your mouth. Yummo!

Obviously back from surgery. Went well. Except for the fact that the surgeon was 2 1/2 hours behind- it would have been perfect.
I had 2 little bumps on my forehead that bugged the heck out of my forever. I assumed they were clogged pores or something. They sedated me long enough to pump my face full of a local and then "woke" me back up. As soon as I awoke I felt something on my forehead. God love 'em! He saw them little suckers and just got rid of them. Then I had a tiny skin tag on my eye lid (weird, huh?), anyway he took that right off too.:thumbsup2
And my nose looks pretty good through the Zeroform. Maybe this sage is on its way of being over. Yay!!

See that? You will be even more bootiful than ever!!!

Hi Pete, We are all fine. Trying to get ready for this horse race coming up a week from Saturday! I just don't know where the time goes. Sounds like you are keeping busy making some other wonderful pirate clothes. Tell Johnna and the girls we said hello

Jennifer you have been in hiding. Missed you around here:goodvibes

Oh Roger, hope you get to feeling better. Those discs whether in your neck or back can really do a number on you:hug:

Glad you all had beautiful weather:goodvibes

Hope you have a great time:goodvibes

Thanks but it was just a little get together at my brother's. Nothing too exciting, but it is so great that it is finally getting to be cookout weather again!

:wave2: Hi Lisa...glad to hear things pulling together for ya. My DDs must be in the minority...their school doesn't start until after Labor Day due to our county fair...so they won't miss any school. Of course, they don't dismiss them for summer until the 2nd week of June.

Wow my kids don't get out till June 20th! We do go back the Weds after Labor Day so we're spending an extra day in Florida!

Our meals in ORLANDO have been ....

GOLDEN CORRAL
Boston Lobster Feast (OK)
Chick Fil-A
Puka-de-Uppa ... er, rather Buca Di Beppo
and otherwise we are open mided to try new stuff...

In Orlando we usually grab a soup/sandwich at Au Bon Pain & bring it on the plane.

Tyreak's official last day of school is June 30. The week and half prior to that is set aside for testing. (Finals and regents) They return to school the Wednesday after Labor Day. However, they only have to be there for 30 minutes to pick up schedules, locker assignments... They don't return to school until the following Monday. Please don't ask why they can't just do everything on Monday. That's a mystery I've never been able to solve.:confused3

We're spending a week at WDW after the cruise, so Tyreak will miss the first 30 minutes of school.:rotfl2:

Wow the week AFTER Labor Day is the latest I've heard!

Good Morning... actually it's not for me. I hate being oncall!! I've been up since 3:30 am PT ---:sad1: After this week I'll only have 3 more oncall weeks before TOAL.

My kids are not going on TOAL with us...They start school the last week of August. I need to find someone to go to school with them to get their PE clothes, class schedules ect. and then to meet their teachers..My biggest worry is DS11, he has ADHD, I need to speak with his teachers. I need to make an appointment with the school before this year is over.

Penny

I hope you get things worked out for your DS! :thumbsup2

Good Morning :surfweb: . We have a 1PM soccer game over an hour away. What a way to mess up the entire day - UGH!

My scary DH has got the chainsaw out and is hacking away every mis-behaving limb on the property. He is not the most saftey conscious with power tools, so I choose not to watch.

power tools scare the carp outta me too!

Oh, that just looks soooo good

;)

....if you have to ask (oops, Julie already beat me to it)

like a scene from a bad horror movie:scared:

I was bummed - last week I wore my crocs all day doing yard work and I got a blister on my bunyon. Gosh, I sound like I'm 90

DD came home from her freind's house and her face was quite pink too.

Love Arby's sauce here too. We have one at the Mall. DD saw me eating it one day and she says, "Mom, how can you eat that? It doesn't even look like real meat". When I was a kid it was such a treat to go to Arby's - still brings back good memories :goodvibes

It's NOT real!

Glad everything went well & yeah for your Dr for taking care of the extras.

Me too! We have a 6 hour flight and I am definately packing the lunch bag with sandwiches.

Since we have an early morning flt we'll probably just grab some bagels at Dunkin's.

Wow, June 30th - that's awfully late. It must get dang hot in those buildings by the end of the year.

We've gone that late here too when we've had a lot of snow days! In fact that might happen next year! :sad2:

Good Morning All!

We always grab a little something AFTER we go thru security.

Hope things slow down for you! :goodvibes

Any guesture from them would be nice, I know I booked it at the higher price so must have been happy with that at that time but over £2,000 is a lot of money, vouchers or something to ease the pain would be a guesture.

Happy Saturday everyone

Maybe you will get something big like David and Helen and get bumped with an overnight stay at the Hyatt in Orlando, free dinner, free breakfast, and free roundtrip passes to be used in a year.:thumbsup2 :yay:

I have finally caught up!

Question for anyone who has been to Acapulco - I am terrified :scared1: of other people driving .. (bad car accident etc..) can anyone who has gone to the Cliff divers tell me if the roads to get there are sheer drop -offs etc? We want to go on the excursion but I am scared of the roads being to ..well..scary!

Cartagena scares me too ..working on that one.

Thanks!

Desiree

I am like you! I am a vvveeerrryyyyyyyy nervous driver and I am even worse as a passenger. For some reason I am not as bad if the vehicle is large. Hopefully we will be driving in very large vans.

Well its quite here tonight ( this afternoon,USA), Just seen the Magic off with a few of the DCL Moderators on it, so post what you like now guys, or has everyone gone on it with them?

Anyway, for me.........................

Best roast beef???? I'm thinking it's got to be Kelly's right???

YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont know if this is the same in USA, translating from our police,

Jokes-1.jpg

That's funny! It comes out the same basically. "Anything you say can and will be HELD AGAINST YOU". Imagine what this guy would say to THAT!!
:scared1:

Back to work on the door signs. Also think I'll type up a list of the Mom's excursion and spa stuff so that I'm ready come booking time. I know...another whole week.....but I'm getting excited!!!!
:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Just a friendly reminder that you can donate every 56 days, so if you are eligible, you can donate twice between now and cruise (maybe 3 times if you time it right...)

Thanks for the reminder! I think I'm due to donate again in the next week or two.

Interesting Laundry list of who can/can not donate found here:

http://www.bloodbook.com/donr-requir.html#TRAVEL

You know, pretty soon it'll be so restrictive that no one can donate and then what will they do??

I Love:lovestruc Sangria!! Wonder if you can get it on the ship?

You and be both! We'll have to find a pitcher of it somewhere on board.

OK guys - sorry - been busy with life - just a quick question - in between trying to vacuuming the living room - how many of us might be able to attend a last minute meet at WDW? Say either Thurs (5/8 or Fri 5/9 of May? I know its short notice but here's my story: [story follows]

Yeup! We'll be at WDW, also at SSR. We're arriving at 4:30pm on the 8th, so anything before early evening on that day will be out. The 9th is the only day we really have any big plans for - the all day, 3-park, back stage tour (9-4) and dinner at CA Grill at 9pm. So, again the late afternoon / evening would be best. Though I suppose we could move the tour to a different day if we needed to.

Obviously back from surgery. Went well. Except for the fact that the surgeon was 2 1/2 hours behind- it would have been perfect.

And my nose looks pretty good through the Zeroform. Maybe this sage is on its way of being over. Yay!!

Maybe it was his apology for being 2 1/2 hour late! Sounds pretty awesome to me. :thumbsup2

I never cancelled the cruise...just got very busy with life. DS's therapy, battling with the superintendent then deciding to move to the school district we wanted instead of continuing the fight legally so the kids would be moved ASAP, moving, unpacking, unpacking, unpacking, combined with working 70-80 hours a week has left me with very little "free time".

Hi Lisa!! Glad you found your way back to us! :yay:

My DDs must be in the minority...their school doesn't start until after Labor Day due to our county fair...so they won't miss any school. Of course, they don't dismiss them for summer until the 2nd week of June.

We also start the day after Labor Day. Usually means we have to take our family vacation the last two weeks of August as all the summer day camps close then - that's when public school starts back.

Food & Drinks
Item Carry-on Checked
...
Flameless Ration Heater (FRH) - A product most commonly found in MRE's, used to heat food packages. There is no limit on the number of MREs an individual may possess in checked or carry-on baggage, but the MRE(s) containing FRH(s) must be unopened (original factory seal is unbroken)

Hey, the commisary sells MREs. Maybe I should get a few. Though DH has probably had his fill of them. Happy vacation honey, I got you an MRE for the flight... :rotfl2:

So what on earth am I doing online instead of camping? Well, the Pop up wouldn't pop. That is, the top wouldn't stay up. So we had to turn around and come home. Fortunately, the campground was only an hour from home. We got it sorted out this morning, thanks to the popupexplorer.com forum (Yes, there are other forums besides DIS. ) And "Camp Driveway" is open for business. After all, we did promise DS6 we'd go camping.

So much for our shakedown cruise... :rotfl:

Esteri sorry to hear that your plans changed. But glad to hear you got the problem with the pop up fixed. Camping in the driveway doesn't sound too bad---at least you know how the facilities are:goodvibes
