Happy Birthday to Cruzin' Speedo Mike

Anyone know if LASIK is good if you already have dry eyes that are sensitive to light? I've had my tear ducts plugged and already use special drops to keep my eyes from drying out. It doesn't help that I live in a dry climate, but the last thing I need is more sensitivity to light.

I would check with an opthomologist & see what they say. I would certainly be nervous about having lasik done if I already was having problems, but it may not making it any worse. Only a good eye doctor would know for sure.

Hey, forgot to tell everyone. DS had his final check up with the neurosurgeon this week. He is all healed. No more fracture, no more air on the brain (....that's debatable :rotfl: ) and he's cleared for sports. No football until the summer, but he can play baseball now.

They showed us the CT scans from 4 days after the accident, 1 month after and then 3 months after. No sign of any more trauma in the area.

Great news Monica! :yay:

Thanks.
It's not really swollen. It's drooping. That's why they wanted to make sure it wasn't neurologic (mini stroke or something else :scared1: ) It could be a number of things, so I'm in a wait & see mode.

I'll be thinking of you. Keep us updated.

As far as I know, 14 year olds still go to the stack, but they can also go to Oceaneer's Quest. We're hoping our 13 yr old DS will spend most of his time with his younger brother and/or Oceaneer's Quest on the 2nd floor. We're going to sign him up for the stack and let him go the first night, but we don't want him (nor do I think he will want to) hanging out with older teens. It seems that there will be a lot of 13 year olds on the cruise, so hopefully, he'll make some friends with those closer to his age.

There is now a rumor that 14 & younger will not be allowed in the stack with the older teens at all. I would agree with BIP & hope that they would offer more activities in Quest if that is where they will be sent. I also hope they offer a soda & smoothie bar because that is one of the things my DD was looking forward to most.

Happy Birthday Cruisin' Mike!

Here's a cake my DW made for my DS's birthday earlier this month. My DS really likes cake!

That is a really cool cake! :thumbsup2

Yearly Gyn appt this morning .

Happy clamping day....

I'm sure all kids are different- and yes I agree there is a big difference between kids age 10 and 14 (I just happen to have a 10yr old and a 14yr old btw LOL) BUT I'd rather my 10 and 14yr old together than a 14yr old and 18yr old. The kind of trouble they might get into, the things the younger of the two would learn, etc. is a world difference when it's a 10yr old and 14yr old- than if it was a 14yr old and an 18yr old. I don't even want to think about the latter and what a mess that could end up being....

Sorry i have to differ....You should see what the 14 yo's are doing around here. They "do" talk about boys and sex.... Maybe a 14 yo boy would be ok with 10 yo's but I've have to side with allowing DD to hang with the older ones. And i'd hate to have one of the 14 (or even 13 yo girls) have "womenly" issues and have to worry about silly little 10 yo's making fun of them... 10yo just aren't grown up.

And the lack of activities...Just look at the navigators from a recent 7 day. Quest group only has maybe one activity each night (nothing during the day)

Yeah ...I'm placing my cash (what's left of it) of the marauding packs of 13-14, and maybe just turned 15 yo's roaming the ship and hanging out in rooms and hallways because the doing bead crafts or waiting in line for the docking simulator that doesn't work half the time ain't going to keep them occupied.

DD needs some answers for her Homework assignment. If anyone is interested inhelping???
place in order the importance of these inventions with 1 being the most important
toothbrush, car, microwave, cell phone, personal computer

Which invention(doesn't need to be on this list) is the most important to you and why?

She also needs your age and gender.
Thanks for those of you answering

I got this too but as soon as I read it I deleted it.

Tom I did and I still do intend on making tags for anyone who would like one!

Brendan and I got our passports today!

Chrissie

Oh yeah... I thought I would add the critics laundry list of concerns...

... off hand there was one fear of getting a "star" blur defectin your night vision. However the triggers for this happening are not known to me - and generally it does not result because of something you Doc does - rather it might result because of what your doc does NOT do in screening you... I suspect.

And for everything else you should be careful of - try this link:

My cousin had that problem with the night vision. Also had pain for a very long time. Had her surgery done with the "TOP" Dr in Palm Beach. Went back to NY for the summer and went to the eye clinic.. Turns out the TOP Dr stitched the eye too tightly and they had to redo something and then she was ok. Some of the best places here let their new graduates do the surgeries and you may not know til later. I think that is what happened with hers.

toothbrush (without good hygiene, bacteria can grow causing cognitive problems resulting in the inability to produce new technologies & early death can result).

personal computer (info out there is invaluble. wish I had it as a kid)

cell phone (being able to stay in touch anywhere at anytime especially in emergency. can be over-used though.)

car (without it, we'd all be either living in the city or own huge farms to own & grow our own food & supplies).

microwave (it's great for popcorn, lean cuisines, & heating up food, but other than that, I don't really use it).

Most important invention to me: the television! Don't think I could stand to live without relaxing in front of the TV at night watching the news, HGTV, American Idol with the family, House, movies on demand, etc.

Forgot to add: female/43

Sounds like your cousin had that PRK procedure that was talked about earlier, because in Lasik there is no stitching done. Your eye flap when placed back over your eye just naturally heals back together. That's why that make you wear an eye shield at night for a while so you can't rub your eyes & the natural healing process can begin.

Last post for a while. In just about seven hours, we'll be boarding a plane heading eastward to London and then on to Paris. $DEITY and British Airways willing, we'll be in Paris before the East Coast awakens tomorrow morning.

Try not to insult me too much while I am away.

I've just read the following thread: Keeping Track of Your Teen

Also keep in mind that they will be no long allowing 13-14’s in the Stack as of May 10th. This is what Taylor in the Stack told me last week, and it has been rumored for quite a while.

.

My DD can't join us (She starts High School and can not miss two weeks of school), but I do hope they have a plan for the 13-14 year olds. We went on a Holland America Cruise at Thanksgiving. DD (13) was in the same group as DS (17). She did not fit in very well at all. Even though she is with girls 3 to 4 years older than herself every night at Gymnastics and gets along great with them, her interests are just too different from the older kids. I ended up being "her friend" for the week. This was fine, but was not what I was envisioning for my vacation. It would make a lot more sense to put the 12 - 14 year olds together and the 15-17 year olds together. Physically, emotionally, and socially, they are just too far a part. (OK - Off my soap box). I am sure part of the problem on the HA Cruise was that the group was predominatly 16 & 17 year olds. Most of the younger teens just did not come back after the first night. Lisa went a few more times before giving up.

If you are away, then you won't know about it...:rotfl2:

Seriously, have a safe flight and don't forget to notify your credit card etc that you will be using the card out of the US!!!!!!!

Just wanted to let others know the update I just got from Delta. Delta called me today to make changes to our flights due to cancellations. While I was talking to them, I asked if they were going to be implementing the extra baggage charge like other airlines have done recently. They said it has not been announced yet to the public but as of May 1, you will be charged $25for every bag over 1 per person each way!! :scared1: That is $300 in extra charges for my family leaving, wouldn't you knowit, May 1!! :headache:

FYI

You know that stinks for people like my parents who are going on a 4 month cruise. They are going to be paying a LOT to ship their clothes ahead of them and back from London at the end.

So where would you enjoy a relaxing week at?

You could run up to Victoria, BC. They've got whale Watching & some cool museums, as well as gardens, tea at the Empress and good shopping.
