I really like that idea. A great "ice breaker" for the kids.
Are we going to plan a 1st day "meet and greet" for all of us? That would be a nice way to start the cruise getting to put names with faces.
I have only been on 1 DCL cruise so I do not know the logistics of having a gathering.

I think with this group, the lifeboat drill will have all our members together and might be the only place big enough?

LOL

We have 2 options, Sailaway party or next day is a sea day. We should discuss activities for that day.

I don't think everyone will be together in the same place during the lifeboat drill because the location of the drill will depend on room category and location

We are going to need our own navigator so that everyone knows the activities / time / places, etc :rotfl: :rotfl: :lmao:

I was just joking about lifeboat drill, more that we are a large chunk of ship

We have a navigator committee already established.

We have a friend who we have cruised with several times, and she actually DOES make up "mini-navigators"....it lists activities, DIS names, real names and stateroom numbers... she does an awesome job with it.

I wish she were on this cruise with us.

Cool!! I guess I'm not quite "with it" on all the plans.

Monica, I know you will be busy, but just how far a walk is it to the IHOP, Dennys,McDs? We are still on the fence about renting a car from LAX.

Morning everyone. We are going into TAmpa to see a Yankeess Exhibition game. They are playing one of the colleges here. But Rich is taking the picture of Arods home run I got from Paula. He is hoping to get an autograph. He wants me to print 2 so he can get one for Adam as well. :thumbsup2 I hope they hang around like some did when we saw them at Disney.

UGH....not sure what happend but I lost my response. My screen switched over to wdwinfo all on it's own.

Walking from HoJo's, it's a short walk from the entrance to the corner (20 yards maybe?). Right across the street Mimi's Cafe is on the corner, walk past Mimi's and their parking lot which is shared with another restuarant that is back off the road (Mom's but I've never been there). This will bring you to McD's. Continue walking past 4 hotels. Don't worry they have narrow street fronts and the bulk of the hotels run perpendicular to the street. IHOP will be next up. Some folks say that this IHOP is much more expensive than most, but its the only one I go to so I can't compare. This is where the crosswalk over to the park entrance is. Go past 2 more hotels and you'll reach Denny's, but we never eat there. It is always overcrowded and understaffed. We waited 45 minutes just for take out one time but I was too pooped to go anywhere else.

This whole distance would be comparable to walking around Downtown Disney at WDW, just the Marketplace side. I'll try to bring my pedometer and do some measuring.

In the past, the DISers have met up on Deck 10 either during the sail away party or at a time set before the lifeboat drill. Deck 10 is less crowded during the sailaway because of all the kids down below dancing.

A word of advice -- please don't all gather on the same side of the boat. I'd hate to see the Magic topple into the water with the size of this group.

Thanks Mike. The IPhone does not allowed downloading ringtones so there is some huge add way to get around it but I am pretty convinced I would just mess it and my phone up. I am going to look into it.

I am going to check out Mike's link to see what I can find out about IPhones. I think it is so odd that that the IPhone that is supposed to be new technology, cannot even allow customized downloads. :confused3

Because Mr. Jobs wants you to pay him $1 through iTunes to download ringtones. Back last year, there was almost a daily race of people finding ways to workaround limitation, then Apple patching this, then people finding another way, then Apple patching that.

I would be more than happy to pay Steve $1.00 for a ringtone but my documentation says you "cannot" do it.
I know there are ways of "locking" and "unlocking" the phone but for someone like me- that is just too dangerous for a $400 phone.

Not sure I believe/agree with the explanation....

Me neither... The Geeks (Dec double dip 06) had lots of trouble when we booked back then.... We just had tons of cc members on our trip.

This boat will almost all be cc members so i can't see how linked stuff is going to be the problem.

Hey, POTC 4 - The Magic travels to Davy Jones Locker.pirate: ....:rotfl2:

I posted this on the regular forum board but wanted to see if anyone here had any ideas too

Camera and other electronics - question

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Does anyone know of a way to put your name on electronic equipment like a digital camera? My DD13 will be bringing her digital camera and ipod on the cruise with us. She is usually very responsible but things can happen

I thought of labels but those can be just peeled off

Anyone have any ideas of something more permanent that can't be wiped or peeled off?

Thanks

Engrave it.... Someone like a jeweler would have one...

Can anyone else see my ticker?

I can't see it . Only the boat is visible (and at home i can't even see that)

Probably best would be a fine tipped indelible marker. (Sharpie)

There are some places that will engrave electronics, but can't tell you more about it.

Here you can see my 10 year old being hugged by Wendy as the lost boys are taken to be adopted by the Darlings . . .

Julie: This looks simply wonderful. That must have been great fun watching your daughter in this production. My older daughter will play in her 1st production some time in March... and I'm looking forward to seeing her in it too!

AND... if I may add that this morning my spouse had something SWEET to say ta me this morning ... (I should have known it was NOT quite what I was expecting)....

gone-shopping.gif

She told me with her sweetest smile ..... "Today is the 1st day for an extra 60% sale on all clearance items at Macys'. SO, an item that's 50% or 75% off on the clearance rack is now 80% or 90% off!". So she wanted time to go wandering and glancing today. As such, I'm not sure if the kids are gonna wanna follow her around - so I'll ask them later today. Today/tonite I expect my dear sweet spouse is gonna hit a different Macy's location every 90 minutes or so in our region. To be resumed tomorrow morning too before we're to show up for a birthday party at 2PM! Of course, right after we blow out the candles my spouse is gonna wanna wander off to the nearest macys'!

OK... maybe she WON'T be quite as psychotic about this as I'm presented... but then again... maybe it won't be all THAT far from the truth too... ;)

Great photos Julie - they both look great

Julie, they look like they are having a great time. Your daughter makes a nice looking Capt Hook! My dd is playing a warm air mass in the "Weather Show" this Wed.

Julie....your daughters are DARLING!! Looks like they did a great job with the play!

Thanks, everyone! :)

No, I can't see it . . .

Just had to share my parental pride with you all. Lauren was in the school gymnastics competition today & won 2 golds & 1 bronze, competing with girls from her year and the year above at school:thumbsup2 . Unfortunately she can't go on to represent the school next week as she has been selected to join the aerobics squad which is considered competitive gymnastics, so makes in ineligible!:confused3

Celestine

Tell your daughter Congratulations on her Gymnastic Accomplishment (I wish I had the smilies Stacey has for gymnastics - they are great!) What Level is she competing?

I'm on my way this weekend to Charleston, SC for my daughter's Gymnastic Meet. I hope she does as well as your daughter did. Lisa (DD 13) competes at Level 10.

One thing that everyone here needs to know ahead of time....if and when you all do your dining set-up....so that everyone can be seated near eachother.....you will be LINKED. When you pull up your reservation, there will be a list of a jillion other DISers on there also.
It won't affect your reservation, your excursions, etc....just don't be surprised if you see other people's names on there.
Example....you open your reservation to make an excursion reservation and it may very well list everyone else's name who is seated in your dinner group, and ask you if you want to book that excursion for everyone in "your party"....meaning half the DIS group. You have to place a check mark next to the names that you want on the excursion with you.

So what that letter said is not necessarily true.

Stace....we are linked with my parents, who have never been on DCL before. We will be able to book at 90 days out, but they are at 75 days out. If I am understanding this correctly, will I be able to book excursions for them as well at 90 days out? TIA!

Yeah! Sharon's coming - Sharon's coming! :welcome: aboard and glad you could post - Stace's had 1/2 the boat in stitches this past year so we are all excited to meet you - although I got to see the Escaping Moms in passing on the 11-Night - I was delivering the water bottle holders. Saw you all having fun and was a bit envious. BTW, do I need to buy a video camera? Not sure about you guys but can we wear our Royal Sashes too? ;)

Yeah Sharon! :yay:

Can I sit next to you at Rocking Bar D?

:rotfl2:

Sure. However, I think Frances might have the best stories. Stacey is off to Vegas this weekend to meet her and her husband and I am sure they will have many stories to tell. All I know is that Jay is a very trusting husband (as he should be) since Stacey has meet many of the DIS Husbands in Vegas over the years.
