Hello friends!

This summer marks the start of new travel adventures with my first foray overseas in 29 years! If you haven't joined one of my TRs before, I'm Susan. I'm a proud Canadian Disney lover who owns a DVC property at Boulder Ridge Villas, has held an annual pass several times, loves Flower and Garden festival, collects ALL the Disney things and counts many lovely Disfriends among some of my favourite people.

We celebrated our champagne wedding anniversary this year (26 years as of June 26th) and my lovely DH retired in the middle of May. So we have lots to celebrate! What better way to do so than to go to France!

We are spending two beautiful days in Paris before boarding an AmaWaterways river cruise from Paris through Normandy. AmaWaterways is the line Disney uses for its Adventures by Disney river cruises. While this is not an ABD cruise (we wanted adults only), I thought it was a neat connection. After our week long river cruise we are heading to beautiful Disneyland Paris for three days!

Please join in with me as I plan the first of many new adventures, I know it's going to be great!

Sounds like a fun trip! We went to Disneyland Paris back in 2019, it was a fun trip. I would love to go back and stay longer to spend more time in actual Paris and maybe see places like Normandy. We had limited time there and wanted to maximize our Disney time. Also I would like better weather, LOL November was fun because the Christmas decorations were up but it was pretty cold. I do have a TR in my signature below if you are interested. It's been a while so there may be some changes.

I can't wait!
Thanks for joining in!

What a perfectly timed trip report, we just decided to go to Disneyland Paris next year. I can't wait to hear all about your experience!

Where are we staying?

I’ve always been an on-site girl and I didn’t see that changing with the trip to DLP. Similar to Walt Disney World there are different tiers of hotels; a value level, a moderate level and the one deluxe hotel. Originally I had wondered about staying at the Disneyland hotel, but the price point was so much more than the others that I really couldn’t justify it with this trip. So then it was down to the two moderate hotels, one is sort of like Beach Club and it’s called Newport Bay. The other one is very similar to my beloved Wilderness Lodge and it’s called Sequoia Lodge. When I presented both options to Bill he wasn’t as keen on Newport and really liked the look of Sequoia so we ended up going with it. While it definitely is due for a refurb from the pictures that I’ve seen and it’s actually scheduled for a refurb for starting I think early in 2026.

The pictures I’ve seen of their plans are stunning so I can definitely see myself staying there again in the future.

The great thing about all of the hotels at DLP is that every one of them is it within walking distance to both parks as well. You walk to Disney village (like Disney Springs) first before you get to either park. It’s an exciting time for DLP because there’s a lot that is changing. The Studios park is completely transforming so I know that will be pretty exciting in a year or two to see the new Frozen land that’s coming and the new Lion King land as well. So all that is telling me that there’s definitely going to be more than one DLP trip in my future.

Food in Disneyland Paris

In Disneyland Paris they have a food plan similar to the Disney dining plan. You can choose either half board which is two meals or a full board which is three meals for yourself. The price is actually pretty reasonable. It was about US$75 per person for the half board plan which is what we chose. With that you get breakfast each morning at your hotel, and that breakfast is a full buffet breakfast, yes, I checked that there are Mickey waffles :-)

So on both Sunday morning and Monday morning, we will be dining at Hunter’s Grill, which is the buffet restaurant at Sequoia Lodge.

For dinner on Saturday evening, we will be dining at Walt’s. The restaurant is themed to the life of Walt Disney with many pictures and memorabilia. The menu is filled with all of Walt’s favourite dishes. It’s centrally located right along Main Street USA so I am looking forward to checking that out. After dinner that evening we have the reserved viewing for their night show.

On Sunday evening we are going to be going to Bistro Chez Remy!

I am so excited for this as I’ve heard the theme is absolutely incredible. I know people have warned me that the food in DLP is not the same standard as you will find at restaurants in Walt Disney World, but I’m trying to have a positive attitude and just take it for what it is. Starting to get excited about this trip! There’s nothing like a little Disney Magic after all. ❤️

Joining in. I lurk on many reports as I have two small children and have trouble keeping up. But I love Paris. It’s been a long time since I was at DLP (they still used francs), but we went to Paris on our honeymoon about 8 years ago and it was lovely. I can’t wait to go back (when previously mentioned kids are out of diapers).

Just discovered your TR and subbing in! First of all, congratulations on your anniversary and your husband's retirement!

Did you say when you're going? I am planning our trip to Europe and DLP for September next year, also planning to stay at Sequoia Lodge. Last time I went was with my parents in Feb of 2012. We stayed offsite at Val d'Europe and it was cold and snowing, and the park was unexpectedly busy. I think the Ratatouille expansion had just been announced (or was announced soon after), but we did enjoy a meal at Walt's! So looking forward to sharing the experience with my husband this time around, staying inside the bubble and enjoying some warmer weather. Sounds like there's been lots of exciting changes too, particularly over at Walt Disney Studios.

Interested to hear about your plans for Paris and the cruise too. I'd love to do one of those European river cruises one day!
