Good Evening the weekend starts here,

Interesting..... is this their response re the two ships booking the same night?

Here is what I sent them:

Gentlemen:

I am writing to call your attention to a significant issue that has arisen with the DCL reservation system, particularly the on-line system.

As you are aware, when the Mexican Riviera cruises were first available for booking on January 31, 2007, the DCL reservation system was completely incapable of meeting the demand. The phone system placed callers in permanent hold, anecdotal evidence indicates that people were left on hold while some who dialed in later were picked up directly. The on-line reservation system completely crashed and was unable to complete reservations for many people.

On February 10, 2008, over a year later, the first of the two repositioning cruises hit the 90 day Castaway Club booking window and the system again failed miserably. Anecdotal evidence indicates that messages alleging the cruise was not paid for were received by persons who had paid months earlier. Other anecdotal evidence indicates the system was unable to process reservations and left many people with a "please wait" screen. (This anecdotal evidence can be reviewed at http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1709944&page=211 and continues at http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1716554).

The DCL reservation system is poised for another failure in May when both the August 17, 2008 Magic repositioning cruise and the August 17, 2008 Wonder 4 day cruise will open for Castaway Club reservations. This will compound the problems experienced earlier this month by adding another ship's Castaway Club members to the same booking window.

While I realize that the repositioning cruises represent a disproportionate number of Castaway Club members, these are customers who repeatedly patronize the Walt Disney companies and in most cases spend disproportionately to the average visitor. In the long run, problems with the reservation systems may impact their decisions on future vacations.

I would like to know what, specifically, is DCL doing to make sure that we are able to reserve Palo, spa appointments and shore excursions without crashing the DCL computer system or inappropriately shutting people out?

While past performance may not be indicative of future results, it is human nature to assume that a system that repeatedly fails, such as the DCL reservations system, will again fail. This will encourage more and more Castaway Club members to do non-Disney shore excursions, ultimately impacting your bottom line.

Thanks for your attention to this matter,

My son ran a sterility lab for a huge drug company. You would not want to know the problems in making drugs.:scared1:  :scared1: He now travels around the world for the same drug company and is their contamination problem solver.:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

My reply was:

Will this also address the fact that DCL will have both ships attempting to book excursions at the same time (I don't believe this has happened before).

Hook and Peter in their final swordfight . . . my 10 year old can be seen just behind Peter, sitting down.

Great pics:yay: :yay:

I love plays:cloud9:
Finally convinced my DS to go out for the school play, he signed up for the crew because he was afraid of trying out:confused3
Which is better than me, I never even tried for the crew:rolleyes1

Roberto on the Acapulco thread mentioned he watches to see if they get the ice from a bag rather than in the sink. I also read most hotels use purified water.

I'm a bit paranoid about this because several family members (on various trips to Mexico) have gotten sick :confused3
Not sure exactly where they ate and my Mom didn't get sick until she came home.

One thing that everyone here needs to know ahead of time....if and when you all do your dining set-up....so that everyone can be seated near eachother.....you will be LINKED. When you pull up your reservation, there will be a list of a jillion other DISers on there also.
It won't affect your reservation, your excursions, etc....just don't be surprised if you see other people's names on there.
Example....you open your reservation to make an excursion reservation and it may very well list everyone else's name who is seated in your dinner group, and ask you if you want to book that excursion for everyone in "your party"....meaning half the DIS group. You have to place a check mark next to the names that you want on the excursion with you.

So what that letter said is not necessarily true.

:scared1: That's good to know.
Thanks:thumbsup2

Its best to drink bottled water from the Magic and not eat on land unless its on a DCL shore trip and then see what you think as you look at it.

My dad sent me those links becasus I always ask for extra lemon in my tea.
Although I am known to be quite the germ freak, I prefer to ignore the lemon stories. After all what's a little fecal matter in your drink?

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:
A co-worker used to tease me about the bowls of mints they have in restaurants when you leave. Something about a study on the amount of...

never mind:rolleyes1 Not gonna be able to eat out at all if I dwell too much on it:laughing:

Anyway one of those links does say not to count on alcohol in a drink killing germs:confused3
Sorry to burst people's bubble and all.

I will take that one , and that one , oh and of course that one and the other as well ...:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

You'll look stunning in each of those outfits, Todd.

Here is how that played out:

Intern Fred: Wow this seems like it might be a problem. What are we doing to fix this?

Supervisor Ginger: Just send them the standard "blah blah fluff fluff we're working on it" response, that's all the need to hear.

Intern Fred: But isn't this booking day going to be a problem? And shouldn't we address their concerns? These guests paid a lot of money for this cruise & just booking a room on the repositioning cruise shows that they are pretty knowledgeable and loyal guests.

Supervisor Ginger: Yeah, so they won't cancel over this little glitch. Take what you can.

We definitely plan on bringing bottled water but most of the excursions we have planned are non-DCL and too many hours to go without eating:confused3

I get your point though-
I just have to remember to stick to well known, reputable food places and be watchful:thumbsup2

My sis did eat at a nice restaurant in PV without any problems, gotta get the name of the place.
