BREAKING NEWS: Fern Creek High and Elementary Schools on Lockdown

Man seen with gun inside High School; no one hurt
Wednesday, February 20, 2008
LOUISVILLE, Ky -- Fern Creek High School and Fern Creek Elementary schools are on lockdown, after a student reported seeing somone with a gun early Wednesday morning. LMPD Chief of Staff Troy Riggs tells 84WHAS that they cannot confirm that yet, but are taking no chances and have locked down both schools as a precaution while officers go room to room searching for a possible suspect. No one has been injured, and Riggs says while he understands parents may be upset, he is urging them to "stand by" and not go to the school.

Stand by ?? Times like those are where you earn your "patience of a saint award" I have alot of difficulty in "stand-by mode"

During the 9-11 attacks I called by then husband, right after the Pentagon attack and told him, one more thing & I'm walking off my job. I'm getting in my car & driving route 1 south to get the kids at the day care. If something happens to my car, I'll be on foot.

I have no idea how it came about, other than seeing my mom chasing the kids through the house (all in fun) with her robe (or just arms) spread up like wings and saying in a low voice "baaaaat graaaaandma"!!!
The kids rolled on the floor with laughter.:rotfl2: Still do.

.

That is a cute story. My Mom is "Grandma Giggles" becasue she used to call the girls when they were little and talk in a funny voice that always mae them laugh so she was "Giggles".

My DS10 called my mother "mommy grandmom" she loved the name. She's been gone almost 8 years now & both of my kids still refer to her as mommy grandmom.

My DS10 is quite the engineer wannabe...... and DS8 could charm anything from anyone.... those poor kids club CMs and that poor ship....

DS10 is trying to figure out how to cost effectively build roads with embedded electromagnets for his hover craft technology. (that he plans to invent)

there's gonna be lots of trouble on the TOAL.

Tom, Tom, Tom, with your two boys you haven't figured that out yet?? :sad2:

Last trip to WDW....

DH to DS10: "Did you put sun screen on?"
DS10: "Yes."
Me: Sigh. "Did you apply sun screen to two legs, two arms, your face, neck, and ears?"
DS10: "Uh, no. Give the the sun screen."

That's right up there with my conversation going out the door this morning:

"You didn't tell me to brush my teeth."

Well, maybe not today, but every other day of your life...

When DS10 was about 6 and couldn't swim, the life guard at camp told him he could not go off the diving board if he was wearing a bubble, as in, kids who wear bubbles can't swim & therefore can't go off the diving board. DS heard, you can't go off the diving board if you're wearing a bubble...so, he took the bubble off & went off the diving board. Darn near drowned.

Interesting part of an article about PZ in PV:

Likewise, there was no shortage of things to do while ashore at the ports of Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta, which is where Gina, 54, and I booked our zip-line excursion.

After checking in at the dockside office of Vallarta Adventures and taking a great hour-long ride through the Mexican countryside in the back of a canvas-covered truck, we arrived with 11 others at the zip-line site. The company prefers to call it a canopy tour.

Within minutes, we were slipped into body harnesses, handed thick gloves and given zip-line instructions. What's to know? Keep your feet up on takeoffs and landings, and use the glove with the extra thick leather pad to hit the brakes on the overhead steel cable that serves as your conduit from one tree platform to the next.

Fun? Is it ever! We'd do it again in a heartbeat. Strenuous? Nope, unless you count the hike back to the truck, an uphill trek that took about 20 minutes but included a stop in the middle for a cold bottle of water and short rest for weary, old legs. Then it was back to town.

cool

Okay everyone, I'm asking for you all to send some pixie dust my way today - I have a job interview at 2 and I am really hoping that it works out. Let's just say that after the talk with my doctor yesterday, I really need to change my stress level. Thanks!

pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: Your stress level is getting loooowwwwer, looowwwwer,... when I count to three & snap my fingers you'll be sitting on the deck of the Magic with an icy drink in hand...one...two.... (can you wait 6 months for the three & the snap ?)

We're off to the school soon, for a meeting about the oldest one's IEP. His 3rd grade teacher, who was wonderful, identified an issue and requested testing about this time last year. They finally got around to getting everything together; they say he has issues in Language Arts (which we already knew). Today, we'll find out what his plan is.

Good Luck Mike.

I've been doing planning/researching tonight and discovered that it's less than 6 months til the TOAL!

My mother wore the same hideous blue gown to my wedding that she wore to my brother's wedding 10 years earlier. Plus she was dating this man & she insisted he be in all our family pictures from my wedding. Well needless to say they broke up shortly after & when my sister was going through her things after she passed away, she found pictures from my wedding & my mother had put white out all over that man's face in every picture. We just had to laugh, because...well that was just my mother. :lmao:

that's very funny, her own little version of photoshop.

I'm sure that would have them quaking.... NOT.

I don't mention that I am one, just throw in a few phrases here and there that let them know..... Res ispa loquitor; Habeas corpus; Quid pro quo; **** praesumitur bonus donec probetur malus; Carpe Cerevisi; Da mihi sis cerevisiam dilutam; Da mihi sis bubulae frustrum assae, solana tuberosa in modo Gallico fricta, ac quassum lactatum coagulatum crassum; etc.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Aint it the truth! ;)
Does this mean we can put in a request to be linked, but still have a separate table? For us that would be idea, because I would LOVE to be near everyone, but the family also likes to dine alone & just be ourselves i.e. eat with our hands, drool, spit, etc.! Okay J/K, but really not to be anti-social, but we do like to just dine as a family. ;)

Yes, and for a small fee i'll make sure you are hidden behind a server station or column too. (not really)

I'm so looking forward to watching the allshookups eat with their toes.
And as for the toe eating...it's a sight to behold! :rotfl2:

Hmm interesting, are you holding try-outs? My Dh and dd could join you guys. I swear they both have monkey toes.

ok have to pirate:

The person I interviewed wtih has several more this week and then goes on vacation to Florida next week

So you didn't tell her you were on the boards right?

I vote for our cruise doing it on Saturday night!!!

OK....not touching that one (you neither Todd)

Anyone else hanging around the airport or have other plans for disembark day?

I was thinking of pulling a water park day at BB or Typhoon Lagoon. WE did that last year and it was a fun way to end the trip. I do have to say that security doesn't appreciate wet clothes (even those in towels and a plastic bag) shoved in a suitcase. Those got the ol' we've been searched letter.

Thanks Julie. I was hoping you would reply. My SIL passed away last night and she is the only one able to go.

 SO sorry arlene. Send our thoughts to Rich and give him a big hug from me.

My DS10 called my mother "mommy grandmom" she loved the name. She's been gone almost 8 years now & both of my kids still refer to her as mommy grandmom.

DD was the first grandchild in my immediate fam and she called my mother "mom mom" probably because i always called my GM "granny" so it wasn't like you could have two grannys.

there's gonna be lots of trouble on the TOAL.

yeah, what was that again that Stace's son almost was arrested for last week?

OK, I knew I was going to miss something. What is the $100.00 tax Tom is referring to?

I know, one post on their thread and they will think the pirates have opened cannon fire on them and declared war!

So you've infiltrated the other camp to gather intelligence on their ability and/or knowledge of the 90 day ressies? Good job pirate. :thumbsup2

TAKE WHAT (RESERVATIONS) YOU CAN !!

OK, I knew I was going to miss something. What is the $100.00 tax Tom is referring to?

Tom is just referring to the Disney execs that he e-mailed previously when DCL was going to add $100 to all our fares but then they saw the outcry go up on the boards as this fee was being passed on to us (but not to those who already had paid off their fares.)

DCL removed the fee again about a week later.

OK, I knew I was going to miss something. What is the $100.00 tax Tom is referring to?

DCL was going to institute a special $100 per person tax for going through the PC -- I think they said the PC had imposed it and they were passing on the cost . . . so many people (like Tom!) complained that they changed again and said they would not add the cost to those already booked.
