Welcome back, Barbara. I bet you were confused!

We'd been talking back there ....possibly the older thread....about who all is staying at the Doubletree. We still don't have enough rooms for the "group" rate. Did you book a room already?

Yes, we're booked at the Doubletree for the 15th & 16th.

Barbara

Congrats to Wales on their victory over Scotland. Hope to catch that game tomorrow.

What's up with England? They lost their Rugby World Cup tiltle this year and bearly beat Italy.

I don't know Andrew. What's up with your boys?

England getting to the final was an absolute fluke. That's a fact and not bitterness. Their performance in the last two games proves it.

Off hand I counted at least enough or close to having the 10 rooms.

OMG! WB is on Part 4! And you all thought we talked a lot!

:lmao:

Other cruise lines allow you to book as soon as you are paid in full, and Norwegian allows you to book at any time after the intial deposit.
I think DCL should let people book excursions and such as soon as you are paid in full. DCL's method of 90 days for repeaters, etc is awful. They DO know that this board, and others like it exist, and they DO know that they are going to get flooded....and they DO have the money to make a change in their system. There's no excuse for it.

Oops....off my soapbox now.

Can you just move over and let me on the soapbox too!!!:worship:

I would be more than willing to pay off my cruise early if I did not have to fight the crowds to book excursions.

Thanks! The pics of us are great to see on the site. It makes it begin to feel more "real".

:yay: Just got off the phone.

Stace - thought I'd give you some kudos. I've been "talking" to some friends about The Escaping Moms and how you all make it a yearly thing to go on vacation together. Well, just found my own group of escaping moms.

In 2 years - two of the group will be turning 40 and they want to celebrate in a memorable way. They want to go to Italy. Since, DH put on my cell phone as intro - Hello - you are trying to reach Laura E...... World Traveller...at the beep, please leave a message..... they said that by default I am in charge of the details and where to stay. :yay: 2 weeks sans kids and spouses as one of the spouses did not want to leave their kids behind. So she promptly said - ok - we'll go without you. Just women - so here's to my group of Escaping Moms!

Thanks for the great idea Stace! :dancer: :woohoo:

I think I'll spend some time this afternoon seeing if there were any DCL excursions that we were considering, that I might switch to an independent tour. Just don't want to go through the booking nightmare. Although that doesn't help with Palo. But we do have the option of booking earlier because of the Cat 3. Has anyone heard if the suite people had any trouble for the Westbound cruise?

Hi everyone....I had to cancel Eastbound with you all, but I am still on Westbound.

Booking for the 90 day mark was a nightmare.....just a nightmare....some were trying for 12 hours!! I gave up after 2 hours of nothing....just not that important to me.

On the question of 105 days....those folks had no trouble. They were reporting back to the rest of us what was available and what was not on excursions. They did keep saying that there was a wonderful selcetion of Palo. I don't think you will have any trouble at all.

But for the 90 day people, be prepared with a lot of patience!!

Laura, HI!!

Did you book any Palo or Excursion's on the Westbound? Come on back over to the thread!! Who is sailing with you on the WB?
Lisa

Cheryl;

You're a shopping MONSTER! Good thing Alicia doesn't frequent the thread or she'd be getting so many shopping tips from you an' everyone else that the kids and I truly would NEVER see her at home anymore!

MBT-new.gif

Oh yeah... here it is. AND NO, I don't think I've EVER seen her wear those things once ... and I believe she went and bought a 2nd pair already too. Or so it seems. Shebuys stuff and sort of hides it in the house sometimes - well, all the time - and I think I saw a 2nd shoe box somewhere. Chuckles..... and the funny thing is she does this but I really don't care if she buys a 2nd pair of this or anything and never uses it. :confused3

At any rate, no... I don't think shes' used them - but now that you mention it I might ask her about it today and lets see if she uses them at Disneyland today - and if she doesI'll get you a up to the minute report on 'em OK Cheryl?

There is nothing better(almost) than a good bargain!!:woohoo: :woohoo:

I am curious how Alicia does like the shoes but I don't mean to cause trouble!!!!:flower3: I have lots of shoes I have not worn yet!!!:rolleyes1

Thank you, thank you..for letting us know! :worship: :worship: :worship:

Sorry you had to cancel with us, but I'm glad you still get to see the ports and have fun with a great DIS group.

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: You gals will have the time of your lives!! You won't regret it at all.
Not to say that we don't love our families to pieces...we do...but it is soooo nice for each of us to only have to get ourselves ready to go somewhere, and to not have to pick up after the kids..... ahhhh...heaven!:cloud9:

I think it was 7 rooms. I wonder if we can get everyone's attention and find out for sure??

Hello? Calling all Doubletree pre-cruisers!!

We need a head count!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
That might get their attention.......;)

Wow disappear for a few weeks and everything changes. Had a busy January and then my computer had to go in for repairs and we brought it home last night. Logged in and had a moment of panic. I always do when something that I don't expect appears on the screen. At least I was able to find the new thread and get through these 21 pages. So I'm a caught up as I'm going to be.

Both my DD's went to the Star Wars exhibit at the Franklin Insitute on Educator night last week and had a great time. My youngest tried to get into the exhibit when it was in Chicago in December but it was sold out. She is a real Star Wars nut and thought the exhibit was great. A couple of years ago she won one of the Star Wars Trivia Contests at Disney's Star Wars Weekend Right now she is in the middle of her job search and hopes the school schedule where ever she ends up will let her go on the TOAL. I told her not to worry that if she can't go we would all have a drink for her to celebrate her PhD and new job. She didn't appreaciate the joke. Although it's going to be bad enought dealing with one pouting DD this summer, if they both can't go they will make sure I pay for it.

When we were on the last day of our first WDW trip (1986) DH had both girls pose for a picture with big pouts on their faces. It's become a tradition to take the same kind of picture on the last day of each visit. Now they are joined by our DGD and soon our DGS will be included in the tradition. These are some of the strangest - but most cherished - pictures in our vacation albums.

Enough chatter, glad to be back online.

Barbara

Glad to see you are back Barbara.:goodvibes I got A DVD from the villages but I still have to watch it.:rolleyes1

I would consider whatever is easier to get to the port. I have the Marriott at Lax booked and DCL transfers. I am coming in on Saturday morning. Have you figured out how to get to Doubletree from LAX??? I would be willing to switch.:rolleyes1

Hi all - just want to give you a heads up. I know a lot of you are booking excursion independently - I just saw this on another board:

Problem with PV Tours and Dolphins

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just wanted to warn people who use PV Tours for their Dolphin Encounter program for children 5 and under. I made the mistake of reserving through the tour operator before looking at Sea Life Park's website. According to SLP, kids 5 and under are free if you have a paying adult, and you must tell them before your reservation is completed.

When I went back to PV tours to ask for a refund for my 4 year old, I got two different answers. Their online help insists that no child is ever free, it is just "a language problem on their part" - them being the park. When I spoke to PV tours on the phone, they said that even though SLP offers these kids for free, PV tours has to pay for every child and the only recourse I have is to contact SLP directly, because that is where the reservation goes directly, and try to get a refund or cancel my reservation (for a price) to re-reserve my 4 year old for free.

I called SLP on the number they provided with their reservation confirmation and was told that I need to email my situation to them and wait for a response. Well, I am waiting and will let you know what happens.

All PV tours needed to do was mention this when I was booking it and I could have avoided all this problem.

For this cruise, the Moms are driving over from Arizona...but we're also going to stay pre-cruise at the Doubletree for our June cruise, but we're flying in to Long Beach. DD is flying in to Orange County. We'll each be using Super Shuttle to get to the hotel at the marina. The hotel has a free shuttle to the port. I'm looking forward to what I hope is a beautiful view of the marina (we're used to the Hyatt at the airport in Orlando).
