CC bike trail no bumps

Not a great week:sad2:
Hope things look better this week:goodvibes

Thanks for the pics of the bike trail:yay:

I grew up in a very hilly section of Long Island and my kids would be so unprepared to bike those hills:eek:
It's been so long since I've been on a bike- I couldn't do it anymore either:rolleyes1

Note to self- get bike out this summer:rolleyes:

I promised to eco tour as the birthday present this year; is is difficult to book? My big fear is I won't be able to get the tour now that there is such trouble with the website on opening day!

I didn't have a hard time booking it but that was back in 2006 on the Wonder:confused3 I would go to book it first and if you don't get it online -try again when you board the ship:)

She's up for adoption right now, though. Being VERY stinky at the moment.

She wants the computer. :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:
Sounds a lot like my DS14:rolleyes: He hovers over my shoulder until I get off:confused3

I this the only thread for this cruise? I thought there was another one as well. I know that 2 have been closed, but I was thinking there was another one. It was less traveled. Does anyone remember it?:confused3

I remember seeing it last year, but I don't know what happened:confused3

BTW, I'm a New Yorker transplanted in Virginia too:lmao:

YES! Love a good banter. Sadly it is not a hobby dear hubby can appreciate especially with the potential price tag. That said, I am looking to justify my next purchase. Does anyone travel with a 70-300mm? I've got my eye on a new Zuiko but it is a big lens.

All opinions welcome!

Marian

Hey Marian - I was in my local Target - they have a Canon 70-300 mm on sale for $200. I used mine for about 5-7 years. In fact was using it up until 6 weeks ago. If you like close-up - definitely invest in one. I have discovered that between the new lenses - I have been using the Canon 24-105mm IS and the 100-400mm IS the most. You cannot go wrong! In fact, I took my old Canon 70-300mm through the PC in 2005 - both in May and Aug. I used it a lot to get close-ups of the locks and at the front of the ship. Problem at the time was I felt I needed a bit more. So while it took almost 2 decades to get them - I invested and got my lenses. I'm in  . In fact, when DH asked me what I wanted for Valentine's Day - I said nothing for now - I got my lenses.

I'm trying to figure out in my head how to justify getting the 500mm lens.

I do have the 70-200 IS (Canon) lens but I haven't used it too much right now. I suppose I will probably use it more on the trips but due to what I was using it for - I have stuck to the above named lenses.

While I know it will cost you - I dont think you will ever regret it if your a true camera geek! Here's hoping you get what you want! pixiedust: Don't settle - I worked with Tamron lenses which gave me very good results for the price. They are about 1/2 the price of any Canon or Nikon -but the glass used in them are very decent.

I'm bringing my 70-300 Canon IS. Their new version of this lens is only 6" long.
But then you do need a Canon camera ;)

Andy

Andy - how old is your lens? I guess I was really back in the old days - I got mine in 2000 with my original Canon Rebel conventional camera.

:surfweb:

So maybe I will have grandkids soon :-) :scared1:

We have been overwhelmed the past couple of weeks.. but I have been reading all the post.. You all are awesome..

You hope and the kids are like - Uh Uh! no way! :sad2: Don't even think about it!

You guys are NOT OLD enough to have children getting married are you?

Welcome back - we missed you! Be safe and enjoy this time.

Stumbled across these pics of our last Mexican Riviera cruise.

This is a pirate ship in Puerto Vallarta:

And the port terminal in PV....the lower buildings with the blue water (fountains) is the terminal shopping area....inside the round building are the port offices (and bathrooms!)

PVportterminal.jpg

Puerto Vallerta! Ah - the taxi cab from hell - :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

This is also the place we learned that DH is NEVER to hail a taxi ever again. Let's just say - when we got to the ship - I changed and prayed to God for letting me live.

M - that is just plain evil!

DD - April will turn 15 this year and was just asking me why she couldn't have one. All her friends are having one and now she wants one. I tried to distract by saying I'll take her and a friend on a cruise instead (its cheaper) - but she wants the crown I think! :sad2: Her friend's parents spent $25,000 on their girls this past November! :scared1: :faint:

I think I have created a monster!

Thank you for the nice comments about DD Jordan. She is pretty, but she's shy and she honestly, truly does not believe or acknowlege how pretty she is. That's the best kind of girl, I think. :thumbsup2
I would have killed to have looked like her when I was her age. But I probably would have been a TRUE stinky teen if I had been!

I wish she were still turning 15, I'd enter for that party.

Stace - I told you before - I am soooo glad DS is not coming with us - else you might have had to call the coast guard on him. His downfall is blondes - and she looks like his current girlfriend - if she wore a bit of make-up - his girlfriend not your dd - she (Jordan) is gorgeous. I :lovestruc my son but he is a boy and a pirate: to boot. :sad2:

Its been an average of three pounds each week, nothing major, but also a regular amount so far, that might be easier to keep to.

Last blood count was 'normal' now thats the first time I have ever been called that!

Congrats Andrew! I started going to the gym myself in the hopes of losing and while I am so happy I started - the needle on the scale hasn't moved in any direction for me! Shall we make this a friendly wager?

Better not - men have better luck at losing weight than us wenches. Not fair I tell you. :sad2:

Maybe we should have a lens swap and play period on a sea day.....

I have the 30D

Same cruise!!
Everyone who sees them says they are definately my kids (not sure if they mean looks or the smart add attitude??:confused3 ) :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Can I come if I promise not to brag too much? :rotfl2: Heck - I may even let you touch the new lens????????:lmao: OK - tell you what - I will bring all the lenses and if anyone is seriously considering buying one - you can try mine out for a while to see if you really want it. Sound like a deal?

I have a question!!!

I don't know if this is something new or not, but the online check-in (DCL) won't take our passport information, etc until we reach either the 105, 90 or 75 day mark. ..........
So the REAL question is....does that mean we have to fill out all that stuff first and then race to make our online reservations??? That stinks!!

That information does not need to be filled in to make your Palo, Spa and shore excursion reservations. I didn't fill mine in until just a few weeks prior to sailing last summer. But I was in and making reservations without it.

I was going to respond to this when I saw Monica did - I just booked some excursions on Saturday and I did not put in my passport #.

OK - potty break and dinner time. What has happened to this thread - is everyone sick or what? We are sllooooowwwww!

:wave2:

Normally the DIS doesn't like multiple threads for the same cruise and they get shut down. Now with the new rules of not allowing any thread go beyond 250 pages, we end up with multiple threads because previous ones get locked.

I think I remember something about another thread and they way they got around the rule was to have it be Med repo cruisers also doing PC repo? Not sure because I didn't follow the other thread.

Yes, we should be back by 2.:)
Did you show Trevoy the video?

Not yet. He was already asleep when I was getting caught up and is still asleep this morning. I know he'll want to do the tandem at least for the first run.

Just watched the video with Trevoy. His first question, only about 10 seconds into the video....."Can we go together at least on the first one?"... :rotfl:

He says it looks fun and he wants to do it.

Also told him about the PJ breakfast and he's already trying to figure out what PJs he'll wear. He's getting more and more into the cruise. We'll work on getting him a DIS id this week so he can post with the other kids.

Even got the blessing from a few family members. We were at a 40th anniversary for my aunt and uncle yesterday and saw a lot of family that we only see at big gatherings. The common sentiment when saying goodbye was that they'd see us at the reunion in August. I would answer that we weren't sure we were going to be there because of this cruise. A few of them said that of course we had to go on the cruise. So I'm not feeling quite so guilty about missing the reunion.

That's great Monica. I'm glad Trevoy is getting excited about the cruise!

Monica, I am glad to hear that Trevoy is looking forward to the cruise. I think I remember you saying for awhile he wasn't to keen on the idea. Hopefully, he can continue to focus on all the positive things he has going for him. :woohoo: Please tell him I want to ride with someone on the first line too! :lmao:

Thing to do list!!!

Do not run.:rolleyes1
Do not take trips to ER.:rolleyes1

I love the pictures of the bike path.:thumbsup2 Looks like something we are definitely doing this time around. :woohoo: :woohoo: How long(going slowly) does it take to get to the tower????:confused3

Cheryl it is a pain to get old. :sad2: So for me and my DD12 this last summer it might have taken about 10-15 mins to get to the tower at a very slow pace. I could probably riden the entire loop in 10 mins.

Catching up and see that you've had a terrible week, Roger! Let's hope this one is much better.:flower3:

Thanks! Did I mention that I have to go in for my first colonoscopy on Wednesday. :scared1: Tomorrow is clear liquids, jello and a gallon of that stuff I use to joke about when giving to our patients. Did mention that it is a pain to get old.

What a week Roger, sorry to hear about that.

Don't you have any clout in the ER to get things moving faster than us regular folk?

DM is still in the hospital but doing better. DF got to go home that night. Unfortunately they live about an hour and a half away so I had no pull at that hospital. I did get to know all of the staff by the time I left. Just got back from taking by DF down to visit.

Roger, what is this tower? Is it something we can climb (not that I would!) or for CM's only? I don't think I've ever seen or noticed it before.

You have to get better and stay that way!! We have a fun weekend at DLand coming up.

The tower has always been there but it was closed the day we were there. I have read and seen pictures from the top. It is a great view over the island and back to the ship.

Leg is feeling better but you and I will definitely not be in any races at DL. :lmao:

I would love to lead a bike ride around the island. It was a lot of fun. The only downside is that it gets extremely hot once you leave the water. Without riding hard you work up quite of sweat by the time you are done.

That's right, go ahead and rub it in! We have to wait to the end of April. Hope Laura feels better soon.
I was out in our wonderful MI weather yesterday morninig at 4:30 am to get dd from Girls Scouts "Mall Mania." It was just starting to sleet. Plus 4:30 AM is an ungodly hour to be up! I love MI! Not!

Well, some of us have to wait until August....:)

I have to be up at 5am (ungodly hour around here) tomorrow to take DS to the school for a ski trip. He's pretty excited - first time skiing.

Makes me glad I have a boy=--all he wants is an '09 Camaro ,like that is going to happen:rolleyes:

Paula - I think its only fair since that by the time you add up all the girly stuff - you'll end up spending the cost of new car so I say go ahead! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

I'm sure you'll make your son's day! ;)
