Stay safe. I was worried about you driving in these storms. Does DD have alternate plans for Matt?

I'm sorry to hear about that, Chris -- I keep seeing all the California bad weather on the news and wondering how all of you out there are handling it.

Sorry to hear that Chris.

Thanks!

True confession time - the reason I'm on the computer so much today is that I'm avoiding a lot of the clean up!! Paul just went to get sandbags and is trying to figure out how to divurt the water when the next round of storms hit.
Monica, Lori is going to take 1/2 days until I get there - or Chris (son-in-law) may not actually start student teaching until the following week - he hasn't got his approved schedule yet. How is it going w/Trevoy? TTYL.

I love Cadburys. especially the Flake bar. We do have it here in the States. Publix has a section in their store for our British visitors .They get over $1.00 for the Flake bar. They also sell those cookies you guys are always posting about.

How about Ghiradelli's, from California?

I agree, English Cadbury's is wonderful -- the Dairy Milk is so creamy.:goodvibes

McVittie's digestives????????? I can only find them here in Eli's, which sells a small tube for about $7 . . .

Told you, cant beat our Chocolate! why is yours so bad????

Also other great British exports:-

  • Winnie the pooh.
  • Nature programmes.
  • Dancing with the stars. (Strictly come dancing)+ Len and Bruno
  • Cat Deely- please keep.
  • Simon Cowell-Please shoot.
  • Fern Cotton and Ant and Dec, watch out their coming!

But you gave us Star Trek, so...:worship: :worship: :worship: :worship:

Hershey's manufactures the Cadbury's that is sold in the US. I was thinking they bought the company but they didn't just the right to manufacture and distribute in the US.

Actually I herd that.

Hollywood, we have have Bond, James Bond, and why do they film here so much?

"Once mighty empire, slightly used." I have a good answer to that, but If I posted it, I would be off these boards for ever, a DJ said it once and got sacked.

"At least we're not French." True, ( apart for 50% of me).

"No motto please, we're British." True ''we're British'' says it all, a touch of class.

Apple computers?

Fish and chips, yes, I accept that one, but in Epcot Harry Ramsdens seems to be very popular.

Now I have to go to bed, so if anyone thinks this is a USA VS UK bash, I am only joking. (crossed fingers) :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

Off to bed, Andrew -- we'll call it a draw for today!!!!!!

Yes, In fact World Market carries them as well. They had a sale right before the Sept Mini meet here and I bought some for Cheryl. I think they go for around 3.50.

That's a wonderful price! Even at $7, I occasionally indulge . . .

Pamela, I still have it recorded. Will try to get it on the computer for you. It really wasn't very long.

Arlene - If it isn't too much work that would be wonderful! I keep trying to convince DH we should get digital cable and a DVR since we are so bad at using the VCR! Besides, we have high tech everything else except for our A/V setup:rotfl2:

We were able to swap into a cabin that my sister was going to cancel. Now our kids are able to join their cousins on this cruise of a lifetime. I tried to keep up with the original thread but it moved too fast. I'm glad you have a new thread that's not as intimidating. We are a group of 11. 5 adults, 3 boys aged 22, 13 and 10 and 3 girls aged 15, 11 and 8. I've been chosen as the planner for our group and I'm going to try and join in on the planning here.

Feel free to ask any questions you have . . .

Congratulations on finding room on the cruise!

I can tape it from the tv but it is not a good rendition. I will see what we can do.

Wow! Hard to believe that for a cruise that is six months away, this thread already has about 26 posts. If this rate keeps up, we will have thousands of posts!

Maybe even 10,000. Oh, do you think we could get all the way to 10,000? :rotfl:

Well... for chuckles we now are 14 hours and 8 minutes into the life of this thread... we've had 1793 visits and 219 postings (excluding this one). That works out to 219 postings in 848 minutes - or about 1 new posting every 3 minutes and 52.33 seconds.

Crash, Dude - you forgot the Math Alert! Sheez! :lmao:

Maybe this guy can help "Clean up" things around here!

Oh man! Now my monitor looks like my windows. Dog nose every where!

The best part (NOT) about having the kids reach driving age, is having them tell me what I'm doing wrong when I'm driving.
"Mom...you're not supposed to pass in an intersection"

"Mom...you're 10 miles over the speed limit"

"Mom....you're supposed to stop when you run over a jogger"

You run over many joggers??? :confused3

My DS10 does it NOW. And is starting to insist on pumping the gas, and moving the gear shift when he's in the front seat. Hrumph.

But first...a CRUISE QUESTION......
Looking at the Cartegena excursions, there are two beach resort ones listed....does anyone have any kind of insider info or thoughts on either one of them??

Oh, just a heads up to all the Blood Donors out there...

When I donated this week I checked on the ports of call for the cruise. It's looks pretty certain that I'll have to go on a 1 year deferral. So, be sure to donate before the cruise.

(Got my 3 gallon award... :goodvibes )

If you want checks, try these

There are folks out there who still use checks? I think it take us something like 4 or 5 months to get through a pack now.

BTW - I mentioned in Chat last night that the heavy rain here caused our garage/storeroom to flood and the emergency sirens/ermergency message on TV warned those near the creek in our town and the town next to us needed to evacuate.
So Update - storeroom is a mess - creek waters subsided - emergency over. However, more heavy rain expected tomorrow - have no idea how to keep the water out of garage.

Also, I'm delaying my trip to L.A. until this series of storms are gone. Saw a couple of bad accidents on the streets around here and am not going to take chances on the highways during storms.

Sand bags. When we bought this house it came with sandbags outside the garage door. We tossed them during the remodel and discovered why they were needed at the first big storm. Oops. :rolleyes1

Hang in there. Someday it'll stop raining. Maybe.

PS keep me informed on your progress with the private tour, sounds interesting.

Me three!!!

Ah but they do not have Cadbury's proper Chocolate, the one thing I have never found is good Chocolate in the USA. Hersey's just doesn't do it for me, I toured their factory, it was nice to see, but ah Cadbury's Chocolate! One place we are better than USA, (well that and our TV).

You need to try Scharffen Burger. Nothing touches it. Nothing.

Welcome Aboard Mate!!!

You know the really cool thing about moving to a different thread???

I can now say that I've read every post in our thread!!! And here I was wondering how far back to go when I returned from my 10-day absence... :rotfl2:

Besides, the boards are moving along at a nice clip now.

I hope everyone is having a great day! I should be outside pulling all the flower pots in..they are getting ready to float away from all of the rain!

Just thought I would pop in and say hi!

Desiree

And now for the inaugural Pirate Joke of the Day on our brand spankin' new, all nice and tidy (for the time being) thread!!!

pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate:
How did the pirate clean the golden floor?
pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate:
With a treasure mop.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: My kids give me a hard time when I run people over too.
What's up with that?

Hi Desiree,
Have you had any problems from all this rain? I'm dreading the next round that's on the way. DH Paul went out and got sandbags - but not sure if it's going to keep the water out of our garage.
Thinking about the cruise keeps me sane!!
