That's the first time I've heard this. Although I didn't read through the whole thread on the main board, it's probably in there somewhere. This makes total sense that they would apply just to keep options open. I'm crossing my fingers for 2010 on the Wonder but we'll see. Come on Oct 7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am hoping for 2011 - DD will be 16 in 2010 and she gets to pick where we vacation. She wants to take a vacation somewhere vs having a sweet 16 party. Maybe I can hint for Alaska in case they do go there in 2010
I am sure that
DCL is looking for future destinations and since only two ships are allowed into Glacier Bay each day they have to request the space in advance. At least it used to be two each day I haven't looked to see if they have increased that number

Six Cruise Lines Submit Proposals to Operate in Glacier Bay
Six cruise lines have submitted proposals in response to a prospectus under which multiple concession contracts may be awarded for the operation of cruise ship services within Glacier Bay National Park. The contracts will include the initial allocation of a limited number of vessel use days in Glacier Bay during June through August of each year of the contract term. The anticipated term of the contracts will be January 1, 2010 September 30, 2019. The deadline for submitting proposals for the initial allocation of available cruise ship use days was August 18, 2008.
