I called the DT to give them a "heads up" on our plans.
At first they were kind of resistant saying there was no way they could reserve the dining room. When I assured her that was not my expectation, she became a little nicer.
Sha said the dining room only held 55 and Saturday nights were busy. So.... I guess we will have to wait and see.
She took my name and will talk to "Benny" about our group.
Bottom line is we can have drinks on the patio and kind of mosey over to the dining room from there.
BTW, She said it was 30 mins, at the most, from LAX to the DT.

There are irons in the rooms, right? Just making sure we don't have to pack one!

Noppers but they supposedly are in the laundry rooms. Since it is so inexpensive I washed my own clothes and sent them out to be pressed. They did a GREAT job. I am bringing a lot of linen so I am doing that again.

Where I live you are not allowed to smoke indoors -- not even in resturants. So, I am really NOT used to smelling like smoke 24/7. If my suitcase had spent the night in Vegas then I wouldn't be able to wear those clothes anywhere until they were all rewashed since they would smell of smoke.

That is one of the reasons why i hate Vegas.. you have to walk to your room elevator thru a smokey smelling casino.. YUCK!!! plus the people on the street snapping girl trading cards like things..

I was only on the Wonder, but they had irons/boards in the laundry room on deck 2. I just picked up travel size Downey wrinkle release at Target the other day. I am going to try that first!

Hi everyone! I'm still 10 pages behind, but have a small problem and am hoping one of our group can help me out....

I'm packing DS9's pirate costume and realized that I don't have any glue for the facial hair (beard and mustache ). When he used them at halloween, they had peel-off areas that had the sticky stuff. Back then I realized I needed to pick up some of the special glue for that, but obviously, I totally forgot.

Is anyone else bringing the glue and would they be willing to give us a couple drops on pirate night? Please send me a PM or email (pdarrah@sprynet.com) if you can. Otherwise, does anyone have any suggestions on where to find the right type of glue? None of the halloween costume stores are open yet!

Pamela - if you can send me a name - I have a year-round Halloween store about 1/2 mile from me right off the 5 fwy. I can drop by later if you want. Seeing as DH is going off to the Commerce Casino - he made it to day 2 of a tournament. So - woe is me - I'll be alone with the furr kids, but they are absolutely not trouble at all. , I think I prefer them to the human kids - no barking, no fighting (except for play and that only last one or two jumps) and unconditional love! they are better behaved too!

Love that store. It saved me a few times when I went to Mickey's Halloween Treat and forgot parts to my costumes.

Seems like you may be one to ask....'I want to get a telephoto lens for my Rebel XTi. Any suggestions??

Something that goes from 50-200 (or 300) will cover most stuff. It really depends on how much $$ you want to spend - some lenses will be more $$ than the camera cost.

The Rebel also takes EF-S which are more economical that the EF lenses.

The image stabilized lenses are nice.

But we've been running around like mad people getting things done today- and just got home. LOL

Okay ... Here is a classic night before vacation story. I finished packing tonight, as I am leaving tomorrow afternoon. So I'm weighing my luggage and I'm not really sure how it happened, but I managed to stub my toe. Not just stub, but pulled the toenail partly off. Now I am in pain, and have to cancel my pedicure. Someone feel pity for me ... Pleeeaaaasssee

My DS14 also plays clarinet and I've had a hard time getting him to be careful with it too
He's managed to ruin the case that his clarinet came in and broke the strap on the new case

Well kids do heal faster than us old folks BUT SHE'S NOT CAREFUL WITH IT! She keeps banging it into things today and once was playing around with Robert outside the dressing room at the store today and he stomped on it by accident (she stuck her foot out- it wasn't his fault- she was trying to TRIP him- playing around- but trying to TRIP HIM WITH HER FOOT THAT HAS A BROKE TOE? Is she insane? apparently so......
So now she says it hurts worse. Hmm, ya think?

IDK about her staying in the hotel room alone. Maybe if it was a disney resort- but it's the HOJO so I dunno. Why do I feel a sense of safety with disney resorts vs other places? I do not know.

I am sorry about Ruby -- tape the toe to the next one....

re: swelling : And it must be something in the air! I am all *puffy*. I was trying on clothes to pack and a few things were pretty tight - that weren't just recently. I got on the scale. Nope, weigh the same. I kne wmy hands were puffy but, I dodn't realize it extended to my entire body!!!

I'm going to drink lots of water and hope that helps! LOL!

It's so weird- like I said... never swelled up like this before except during one pregnancy (towards the end of pregnancy) and the last couple of days on the last cruise... so I really can't figure out why now but like you- I'm also trying to drink more water cause I don't want to go to DL all swollen!

HAIR UPDATE

Thanks for all the green hair advice. DW went with the swimmers shampoo mixed with baking soda and the results were great. The girls are blond once again. Jack

I don't mind flying but, I am starting to feel extreme anxiety for the entire vacation. Since I am the only *planner* in the family I feel responsible for everyone to have a good time. I know that makes no sense but, that is how I feel!

I'm not worried about everyone having a good time- I figure they will. But I'm worried I might forget something important.... and hope things work out with the kids age groups and such.

You aren't kidding! I sure wish we had seats like that! That looks downright luxurious which is not the way we travel when we fly..... by a long shot. LOL

Steph, I feel the same way! I am the one who booked it, pack everything, and feel very responsible if something doesn't go the way it should. Oh well, I just need to relax and know that I did my best and yes, sometimes things do happen. My stomach has been bothering me off and on lately and I think it is some anxiety about the trip even though I am very excited. I'll just keep popping tums!

I also understand completely what Bip is saying about her DD always hurting herself. Mine will be at cheer camp right up until we leave on Wednesday and I keep telling her, please be careful. We are heading right from camp to the airport...no time for a doc in the box stop!

I was worried same as you when Ruby went to cheer camp last year- and amazingly enough even as a topper she came home unharmed! Seems she FINDS ways to hurt herself when she's doing relatively safe things- and doesn't hurt herself when doing dangerous things. Figure that one out. LOL kids........
