8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC #12

Last Mango in Paris-- didn't realize that captain Tony was a "real" person, but I've only recently become a Jimmy Buffett fan.

BRUSH WITH FAME
I had lunch with Vincent Price back in 1987. I was only a freshman in college, but had won a Rotary International scholarship and attended all of the Rotary club meetings. My sponsor knew Vincent and when he was in town for an event, had him join us for lunch.

Oh, I bet a college freshman found those Rotary meetings exciting.
(Nothing against Rotary, I've had jobs that put me on the "rubber chicken circut" as a speaker, so I've been to lots of those meetings.) Anyone have a happy buck??

Yup, Capt. Tony is a real guy. I think it is on Feeding Frenzy that JB rants about the people of KW electing their favorite bartender mayor - that's Capt. Tony. Sloppy Joe's plays up the fact that Hemmingway hung out there - Sloppy Joe's was in Capt. Tony's present location in Papa's day, so he really hung out at Capt. Tony's bar.

I remembered a couple of other brushes with fame..

I met Charo at Disneyland one day..she was with her hubby and son. Also Cindy Crawford with her family.

I had to collect on a few celebrities due to work

I spoke with Kim Richards by phone for work. (not a collection account)

I went to school with members of Oingo Boingo and Striper (Christian Rock Group)..they both performed for us at our school before they hit the big time!

I didn't say they were exciting :rotfl2:

Coochie cochie! She was on the Love Boat as often as Joey Fatone is on the Magic. I would just die if she showed up on our cruise - especially since we are going to Love Boat ports (puerto vaillarta & acapulco) :rotfl:

Somehow I don't see Oingo Boingo and Styper hanging out together. :confused3 I thinkI would have guessed their ages as not that close together either. What do I know?

Brushes with famous people....

My youngest brother (4 yrs younger then me) went to High School with Pantera. I sat in front of them at a homecoming pep rally.

DH has met several Country singers @ the Western Market in Denver (Dh is in the Western business/leather).
He has also had some Coutry Singers come into the store in Ft Worth. One of his friends (that is a custom bootmaker) says he hates doing business with celebrities because they don't think they should have to pay for anything! LOL!

He also physically bumped into OJ in a strip club in Denver. That was back when he was married to Nicole and she was with him......

I saw Charlene Tilton shopping at the Galleria in Dallas.....

I am sure there is some thing else.....

We bought the same camera in pink (for me!) over the weekend from Circuit City. I haven't even taken it out of the box yet though. Am debating if I should pick up a second battery. We have an older waterproof Pentax, but I'm hoping that maybe this one will work a bit better. I'll probably bring the Pentax as back-up or so that DH and I can each have a camera while out at the beach and/or pool.

Kim

Ours is blue. My Niece and her DH got one also for a wedding present (a couple of weeks ago) and took it to WDW on their honeymoon - I'll find out on the weekend how the pics turned out. Can't wait to try ours out.

We're also bringing along our two Canon's.

Come on, folks.

First we heard about engine trouble on the Magic. Then we heard about a small fire on the Wonder. Now we hear about an earthquake in LA? Who amongst us is the responsible party? :)

chicken.gif

ALL I KNOW....

... about this is I'm INNOCENT.

I wuz out in central California slummin' at the marriott in Visalia when the Quake struck...

... and as for the woes with the ships... I too have an alibi...

... Alicia and I were hootin' 2 nites ago as our younger daughter has JUST started swimming! So I was busy shooting video clips and replaying them all nite!

So ... here I sit with my kids in the lobbby of the Hilton in Bakersfield while we wait for Alicia's return.... plus we're watching cartoons in the lobby while I continue to test the bandwidth rate onthier wifi in the lobby! And yeah ... I'm trying to skim through the pages between here and the last consolidated posting of 7 Q replies ... so I can get caught up on that!

some I forgot!

Disney brush with fame:

when I was little we saw George Wallace, - (his wife and grandchildren were in line in the Frontierland ladies room with us)...(and then later ended up living in Laurel MD where he was shot ..maybe that is my "Odd fact":upsidedow )

DD and DH were in line at Dumbo with Julianne Moore, her friends, and kids.

oh - can't believe I forgot this one: we were eating at Cracker Barrel one night in Rochester when Aretha Franklin and her tour group came in!!!!

My kids would be so surprised if Charo showed up on the ship. I got the first season of Love Boat a while back - DD wants to know if we are getting big rattan bags like what April got in Mexico.:rotfl2:

I sooo resemble this remark! LOL
I feel like I have everything under control...but I keep adding stuff to my lists, so my lists keep growing. I think what makes it worse, is that we are not traveling before hand. We just wake up on the 17th and head to the port. But because so many are leaving days or weeks before...their finalizing of packing and preparing makes me feel like I'm behind! I am really hoping to have everything done a few days before we leave, and be able to jump over to DL to meet up with those who are enjoying the magic prior to the Magic!

:) I THINK I am in control - I hope!!!! we leave on Thurs before, and I really don't want to pack the day before like last cruise....when people start talking about packing already, I panic too!!!:wizard:

Happy Anniversary!

I 'sang' with Martina McBride once! We were at her Christmas concert outside of Boston and I got picked to go up on stage and sing Christmas carols with her and a few others. I was close enough to see the run in her nylons :lmao:

I also met Joey Fatone on the last EB PC cruise, but from the sounds of it, who hasn't :rotfl:

I did also get to chat with Roy Disney on the last EB PC cruise.

how cool is that, to meet Roy Disney!!!!

oh, we had a Dr Disney in Rochester!..a ped .and a cousin of the DIsneys..sadly, he retired before DD was born!

While working under a race car at Lime rock race track a man came up and started asking questions abou the car. As I wiggled out from under the car I kicked him in the shin (accidently). Apoligizing for being in my way he offered a hand up when I looked up Isaw it was Paul Neuman! During that season I got to spend a fair amount of time with him and met his wife a few times. PJ is a true gentleman and had a lot of fun with him. At the tracks he shuns attention and concentrates on driving fast. Off track very pleasant to be around preferred hanging out with the "guys"

hulk-hogan-photo.jpg

Offhand...

... I've seen Hulk Hoogan at our local Vons' supermarket.... he's really big ... and I saw Emilio Estravez at the local Costco shopping.... and I saw Johnny Caron driving a silver shadow Rolls in Malibu .... and I met James Gardner when they filmed a scene in my parents store. They paid us $1600 to shut down for half a day for thier filming. It was the episode "Four Pound Brick". Oh... and does it count that mynext door neighbor USED to be Mike Seidman who used to play for the Carolina Panthers ... and now plays for the Colts? I now have another sports guy living next door ... he is in the "farm" for the Dodgers so he is not a big name player... however it's been said he is ONE injury away from the majors and really big money.

Oh.. let me see... who else have we seen sort of casually? I can't think of anyone else ... and it follows too because I don't watch much TV... and almost never watch any recurring shows ... except for any Star Trek ... and most sci-fi shows.

I changed the cover on my bed. I bought this on ebay when in Chicago, got it cleaned and has been put away ever since. Now I am getting excited. :woohoo: :woohoo:

Now I must get back to cleaning house.
OmG I love love love LOVE it!!!!

Bip (and anyone else doing Sea Life Park in PV)...did you see that the water slides at Sea Life Park are currently closed for maintenance? From their website..."We would like to inform our guests that as of July 21st and until further notice, the Sea Life Park Vallarta Aquatic Area will remain closed due to jobs maintenance. Only the dolphinarium will be open and operating on regular basis to offer the Swimming with Dolphins programs that you have reserved or would want to reserve for those dates."

I had made our reservation via phone so I called to get clarification on the dates. Basically, right now they don't know when the slides will be operational again. They may be operating when we're there, but they may not be. The lady I spoke to did say that the dolphin programs would continue, and that the lazy river and the child's play area (I'm thinking the toddler area?) are also open.

I know that those of you who booked Sea Life over DCL are still saving a lot of money. I am very disappointed, though, because the slides were a big reason that I booked the Dolphin Encounter in the first place. We hadn't planned a dolphin excursion with DCL but when I saw the photos from Sea Life park (and the slides!), I booked one because I knew that my kids would have a blast at the water park. I'll just continue to hope that they get them up and running before we get there. I can't imagine being there and the kids seeing the slides but then not being allowed to go on them! :sad2:

Kim
I didn't know that.. and that is a bummer. But we'd probably still have booked it just for the savings alone. If they are still closed- we'll just leave after the dolphin thing and go back to the ship I guess. WE have rhythms of the night and DD has the teen cruise -both starting that afternoon anyway. I guess we'll get some "down time" on the ship before those excursions. I hope the waterpark is not still under maintenance then though. Any idea why they are doing maintenance NOW during the summer? weird.

I think that how your pregnancy is is an indication of what their personality will be. DS is easy going and generally a really good kid who is mature and listens to me...and tries to tollerate DD. DD has been a little monkey since she was born and has always challenged me wanting to be too independant for her own good. I don't think that she liked not being in charge of things from the beginning. LOL!
hmm, let's see how this theory works out.
Eldest DD never stopped moving- it was wild.... and kinda freaky how much you could even see of her body on the OUTSIDE -friends/family used to just sit and stare cause it was that freaky.... = she's ADHD and still hyper as ever.
son- he moved a lot too but with him I just was tired tired tired. And maybe it was a hint that I should have slept a lot to rest up before he was born (which I didn't) because when he was born he had to have CONSTANT MOVEMENT 24/7 or he'd be screaming like a banshee. He's still very active, and the child that is most easily bored.

Youngest DD- moved a lot too but not like constant nonstop wacky kickboxing stretch out as long as you can and climb up under my ribs kinda movement like eldest DD did in the womb..... and I wasn't tired.... I'd say she was the most "cooperative" in the womb (ie: didn't think the minute I laid down meant time for her to dance around in there like my eldest DD did) and she was also the easiest to nurse when she was born (and like sleep with her to nurse too/etc.) and still today she's the most cooperative and well behaved.

I'd have to say your theory is accurate, atleast in my experience. LOL

none of these photos worked for me... so let's see if they work in quote.
nope- says they were all moved or deleted on photo bucket. :(

We will be there. I guess he is at the main headquarters (Denver)? It is a great company to work for. They are doing work on the Panama Canal too.

I had to leave work early because my DD had an allergic reaction to some over the counter medicine and I had to go pick her up. On the way home I stopped by Trader Joe's and picked up a couple of bottles of 2 Buck Chuck. (Yeah, we are real wine drinkers :rotfl:) One will be for our anniversary on Tuesday and the other will be for our anniversary celebration onboard. Will bubble wrap and lots of padding be enough to keep it safe in my suitcase?
I think bubble wrap should be fine. Congrats!! on your Anniversary. Yes DH works in Englewood and use to work in Portland, OR. We just transferred here about 6 weeks ago. I hope that your DD is ok and how are your kids? We have DD6, DS14.
We are getting so excited about the cruise. We will have to meet up with you and your family. My DH has been with CH2M for along time. It's so exciting that you also work for the same company. We still have a few more things to get for the FE and waiting for our postcards to come, dress for my DD6, (won on ebay), the boys get their tuxes together. Lots to do.ugg...

Happy Anniversary and hope that yoru DD is ok.

Take care and keep in touch...

One of my younger kids asked that and our 17dd said *Why wouldn't he have our address?* I guess my kids think he is like Santa *knows everything*. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Thanks, Desiree!!!!

My DS when he saw the postcard today said "How did Mickey know my name?" I reminded him how many times we've met Mickey and he said "But I don't think I ever told him my name". Funny, how kids think.

And yes, thanks for the postcard!! :)

We bought the same camera in pink (for me!) over the weekend from Circuit City. I haven't even taken it out of the box yet though. Am debating if I should pick up a second battery. Kim

Well Kim...

... I think we choose wisely. This camera should be one of the LAST pocket digicams I EVER buy... short of losing it or having it stolen. I've been coveting this thing ever since Roger (and everyone else) has posted about this... and in particular ... Rogers' underwater shots. If I had this camera ready 2 days ago i could have captured in the water/underwater movie clips and still images of our daughters FIRST experiences at what we'd credit as swimming free! Oh well... we will have to wait til it gets here...

And Cheryl... I noticed someone posting it was your birthday .. assumed to be today.... so may I offer CHEERS and singing HAPPY BIRTHDAY wishes from the gang!

Yes get a second battery. I got mine from a seller on Ebay..very reasonable!! Also make sure you have enough memory cards!!

We are in luck...Just talked to CONTINENTAL airlines and we are all set for 2 checked in luggage each with no charge.. PHEW!!!! Purchased before April 24..:cool1: :worship: I didnt know how this was going to go through with 4 of us and all my gowns and dresses!! and shoes of course.. My son has 7 pairs to bring.. YIKES!!!

A boy, with 7 pairs of shoes....I won't even lets my teen girls bring that many. Especially boys...their shoes are HUGE!!! Good luck! If you need me to sit on your suitcase so you can zip it, let me know!!!!

Well, since they paid my way through college and provided me with a summer program to learn Japanese culture and paid for a month in Japan, sitting through an hour lunch meeting every week was the least I could do. Free lunch to a college student was huge, although I did have to dress up for it.
