Sorry, forgot to update everyone.

I think the call went well, but what do I know, it's been almost 10 years since I've interviewed anywhere. I believe that I'm overqualified. That doesn't bother me, but it may give them some hesitation. They even asked if it would bother me if I wasn't a manager anymore. I said that what I'm called doesn't matter, as long as I have a position that challenges me and I can do well. Her response "I have no doubt you could do this well" - that could be taken either way.

Next steps - they are completing the initial interviews today and should be calling tomorrow or early next week. There will be a 2nd interview, either phone or in person, with the department head and maybe a few others. After that, there may be a job shadow for a day then they'll make their decision.
Sounds good! What kind of position is it you are interviewing for?
Tux Update:
Well I "won" the tux with tails that I didn't want. Hmph. I sent a message to the seller right away telling him/her that I messed up and asked if I could possible switch it for a non-tails tux. This is the same seller I've already bought 2 tuxes from in the last month. No response. Just a bill because I won. I can't be mad - I'm the one who screwed up. I just thought since this is a huge seller every size listed all the time they may be able to switch for me. Oh well.

The good new is, I bought the wrong tux for the right kid! DS8 is my diva. He actually thinks the tails will be cool! Next, he'll want a freeking top hat and cane.

DS9 would have died if I made him wear tails.
Would a male diva be a divo? :lmao:

What do you put for the Ship Date Range or do you use the look-up with the big box?
I think I just put a random date from earlier this month.

Which brings up a subject I've been meaning to ask about.
Those with teens.... do most of the teens wear jeans the majority of the time or shorts or what? Just curious.
Last time we went my daughter was 12 and was totally fine with wearing shorts everyday. But now she's in this phase that she just doesn't LIKE shorts much at all. (she looks fine in them- she just prefers jeans) I mean even here in the Texas heat and outside playing or riding her bike- etc- she wants to just wear jeans. I keep telling her she wouldn't be so hot- as she complains she is- if she'd wear her shorts! But she says she likes jeans better. I have made comments to her she better get used to shorts because I'm packing her shorts- but now I wonder...... would she be looking all that different from everyone else if I let her wear her jeans every day? She is not eating dinner with us- this is not a question about dinner attire... this is a question of every day/evening wear like around the ship, in the teen shack, etc.
What say you, parents of teens?

I've never seen any teens wearing jeans -- maybe some of the guys. I'll double check with Samantha. She wears shorts, long shorts, capries, during the days and usually dress/skirts for dinner.

The good new is, I bought the wrong tux for the right kid! DS8 is my diva. He actually thinks the tails will be cool! Next, he'll want a freeking top hat and cane.

This would be 10ds...... He would be THRILLED if we let him have a top & cane!!!!

I FINALLY have a cabin:banana:

We're in 2021

Congrats! We are your across-the-hall neighbors (2018 and 2020).

I actually found our shirts at Walmart. They had a bunch of plain t-**** on clearance. I got me a girl fit tee and DS a layered look tee for $3 each.

I'm thinking of black slacks or a black skirt (if I find an inexpensive one). Although our shirts are not the traditional design of MMC, I wanted to somewhat mimic their outfits.

I'm planning to wear black capris. IF Tyreak will wear the shirt, I'll allow him to wear jeans that night. I told him he HAD to dress for dinner each night.

Most likely we'll be wearing jeans with ours. And yes,you can wear jeans in the dining rooms now.

Thanks for the replies. I had originally thought of having everyone wear black pants (or skirts for the girls), but I'm not sure right now if we all have black pants. I know that we all have blue jeans so that's why I was thinking maybe we'd wear those instead. I guess I'll see what we've got already and go from there!

What size does your 1yo wear? I have an outfit - white button-down, grey dress pants, cute red tie - that DS wore all of once, for his cousin's Bat Mitzvah. (MIL actually wanted to buy him a suit for the occassion. Thankfully she listened to me when I said that would be a waste.) Anyway, it's sized 18 months. If you think it will fit your DS, just let me know.

He is actually wearing 24 months or 2T in just about everything now. That is a very generous offer, though, and if I can't find anything soon, I will let you know. The frustrating thing is that I've got a couple of shirts for him and a tie, but I can't find the pants. It seems that the few places I've seen that carry them sell the set (shirts, pants and tie). I didn't figure they'd be so hard to find!

Just checked my ressie and again they have changed time, 4 hour earlier and again NO e-mail notification!!!!

Arrrrrghhhh.

Hope they don't change it while I'm on the cruise.

Anyone flying Airtran should check their times

Delta also isn't very good about notifying you of changes. So this is a great reminder for all of us to check, re-check, and re-check again! A hint for anyone flying Delta - they usually make their schedule changes Sunday mornings. That is usually when I check mine and call to reconfirm if there have been any changes.

I have images of Fred Astaire dancing, and Gene Wilder & "The Monster" singing "Putting on the Ritz" in Young Frankenstein. Yes, I have a very twisted mind.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Family Karaoke??

Would a male diva be a divo? :lmao:

Technically, yes, but Divo sounds like he should be riding a moped with a flower pot on his head.
We do call him our "Drama King" though.

This would be 10ds...... He would be THRILLED if we let him have a top & cane!!!!

I know they are going to get along!

Have you checked a children's consignment store? We have a bunch around here....They may have what you are looking for!

Evening Crew! Just pokin' my head in the door to say ARGH!

Sorry I haven't been around - been busy getting here, and meetin' with Caropooh, and Disfreaks. Boy, did we have a good time.

I got sick as a dog though. Well, actually, my dog's pretty gosh darn healthy - so I was sicker than a dog. We think something at the "Bite of Seattle" bit back. Landed at the Emergency Room that night, and the local urgent care clinic the next night. Morphine was my friend. Then, after two days of misery - it left as quick at it came. Go figure.:confused3 In any case it was alarming enough that DH postponed his trip home till Thursday, but went home today when it magically disappeared. (My next stop was a hospital in Bellevue if the pain reocurred.)

Looks like planning is well underway for everyone. There's no hope of catching up - so I'll just read the last 10 or so pages.

Poke at me if I've missed anything important.

Disappearing back into The Woods now....

.

That sounds awful. I am sorry you went through this.

Every 3rd year our family reunion is here in Dallas. The forecast is for the temperature to be 102 on Sat and 103 Sunday. :sad2:

My DD will be in shorts or capris all day. It is just too hot to be wearing Jeans. That being said she will be wearing them on the plane ride there and back and will probably pack one other pair just because but on cruises she is in shorts or capris 90% of the time

I purchased 20 postcards for my DD postcard exchange but ended up going with Vista for the postcards..so now I have 20 Disneyland postcards with nothing to do with them.

So..if anyone wants me to send them to their kids as a pre-cruise welcome to Disneyland (I did this in 2005 too) I can do so...I usually just put something like...Can't wait to see you or something in the Walt Disney Font and sign it Mickey.

PM if you are interested..no cost...just a fellow cruiser trying to pass on some excitemnt!

Please send me your mailing info including who you want it addressed to and anything else you want on the postcard.

Part of being a teen is figuring out what you want to wear (which includes going through phases, wanting to wear what others are wearing, etc). Let her wear what she wants, but bring some backup stuff for if she changes her mind.

At least what she wants to wear are jeans.....

(no offense intended to those of the goth persuasion - it's a perfectly legitimate form of self-expressions, and does fall within DCL guidelines for dinner wear) :rolleyes1

Desiree, that is so nice of you  I wish my DSs were younger and I would take you up on the offer. On the 2005 Repo we had someone send them a postcard "Looking forward to seeing the Smith Brothers on the Magic". At the time DS9 was beyond thrilled until DSs12 came home from school and burst his bubble.

Let her wear whatever she wants. Pick your battles with teens...and this one isn't worth fighting or stressing over.
Mine have worn jeans during the day. The kids spend more time inside where it's air conditioned anyway...unless they're in the pool.
And if she gets too hot either let her suffer or cut off the jeans.

Hello everyone!

Has anyone started packing?

Looks like we will be bringing an extra suitcase (or two) 5-6 in total. Ugh!

I can't believe the amount of stuff we accumulated over the last 18 months. I was packing one of our suitcases and more and more stuff kept on appearing. It felt like the episode of "I Love Lucy" when Ricky and Fred are packing th car for the trip to LA.

Good luck to all. Only 3 weeks to go!:)

:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:
Roger, Stace and me - they did save the best for last!

Yeah, well wait until they see the Speedo-collar ensamble that I know you've been planning.

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: We're NUMBER ONE...We're NUMBER ONE:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
Or is that number 2000+ something???? :rotfl: :rotfl:

Did I tell you guys that last Saturday when DH and I were at the pool at the Mirage, there was a guy in a Borat thong suit??? Serious. Lime green and all!! EEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

I'm going to make a run to the grocery store for DL tickets for a fellow DISer, so if anyone else needs any, please let me know. I'll probably be going tomorrow. Just send me a PM with how many you need and your home address. I'll give you my full name and mailing address so that you can mail a check for them. BTW...they end up being $107 with the sales tax added at the register. :)

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming......

FINALLY!!

My package is on time with a scheduled delivery date of 7-28.
Left Orlando Florida on 7-23

:yay: :yay: :dance3: :dance3: :yay: :yay:

I GUESS WE'RE CRUISING AFTERALL!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I checked UPS again today and mine is also showing up as being shipped yesterday - and out for delivery today. One of the plus's of only living 1 hour away from DCL's offices.

I'm guessing it would be okay then for my DS to wear khaki shorts to dinner? I have 3 pairs of khaki pants that I was going to rotate for him with hawaiian/tropical shirts, but it would be nice to have the option of the shorts too.

I'm just stuck now for semi-formal and formal night. I was planning on getting him a suit or at least a nicer pair of pants, shirt and coat. But he's in a growth phase and is right between a size 7 and a size 8 right now and I can't find anything that fits him right.

Khaki shorts and different shirts are just fine for the dining room.
As for formal and semi---get him one pair of black slacks (cheap like at Target or WalMart) and a white shirt for semi and on formal night add a tie. He'll look cute as a button and you won't waste $$ on a suit.

Okay....I'm outta here. Not going to get anything done playing around. ;)
