Trevoy is sick too. Unfortunately it's more than an upset stomach. He's leaking at both ends. He's still in bed. Trying to get him to sleep as much as possible.

He's missing a day of summer school. They really frown upon missing any days since it's such a short time. This is the last week though and he's been doing well, so hopefully this won't hurt him.

Hi everyone .. My turn to ask for some prayers. My sister had to take my Mom to Emerg early this morning ... Turns out she needs to have her Gall Bladder removed. They are keeping her in and hope to have it removed Wednesday or Thursday. She is on Coumadin (DVT history) and has to be weaned off it first. My younger brother has Down's Syndrome, so he will be coming up to stay with me while Mom is in the Hospital. Kirstyn is at home, so she will be able to stay with him while I am at work. I'll know more about her condition tonight when I go see her. Please keep her in your thoughts. Thanks.

Finally got the call I had been waiting on last week. I've got a phone interview Wednesday afternoon.

I left for WM to pick up another piece of luggage so the kids can each have their own bag this time and checked the mail before we left and it was all I could do not to come back inside and post!!! Instead DD and I pulled off to the side of the road and opened the package and looked at them.
WE GOT OUR PASSPORTS!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not a shoe person....so...we will wear our tennis shoes on to board and pack flip flops, dress shoes and water shoes.. for a total of 4-5 pairs of shoes total (2 of which flip flops!)

I would call the Bank or credit card company at 7 days before the cruise as it can get buried under everything Else if too early,and any note on your file can drop off after 21 days, a good thing is to enter in the Banks number into your cell phone before you go.

No we aren't doing the tux/gown thing - we all hate dressing up. I'll be wearing either a nice skirt and top or nice trousers and top. Robert will be wearing nice pants and shirt and likewise my Mum.

Many people do not do "formal" and just wear a nice outfit so you won't be out of place if you don't wear a gown etc.

That is correct - when you book the car, they do not ask for any CC details so have no way to charge you for the reservation until you actually show up at the counter.

So do you think they overbook- like say the minivans- knowing some people won't show up? I didn't know that you wouldn't be charged or something. How can they book them and then have people not show up for them when they could have rented it to someone else if they'd known you wouldn't be coming to get it?

Those of you who have booked one way rental cars from the port...what is the time that you put in for pick-up of the car. When can I expect to be able to get off of the ship and through customs?

I asked Lisa and she said she was doing 9am- so I did too.

Rental Cars are usually not reserved with a Credit Card... So there is no concept of a late cancellation penalty.

I say you book one for midnight... and if you need it, you have it.

So there is no other transportation, besides taxi, that runs after 12:30am? It's either taxi or rental? You'd think more people would arrive that late. I really don't like the idea of a rental on this leg of the trip- it's just me and the kids and trying to find my way to Hojo? no thanks! Plus where do I drop it off once I get to hojo? see the problem there? And then Jeff coming alone is not much better. We're really not interested in driving ourselves on this leg of the trip.... at all.

OK I know I am becoming a pain, but I am filling in the avis reservation forms... says that the rental office of choice is closed for the holiday. Anyone else having this problem? What did you use as an alternative?

Interesting. Where did it say that? I booked and confirmed and never saw it say anything about being closed that day. I know it's a holiday but if they are closed that day they are gonna lose a LOT of business.... that's a holiday that tons of people end up travelling one way or the other (back home/etc.)

If you're booking a rental car at Port Cape Canaveral...... what time do you put as your pick up time?
How close is the rental place at the port?
Do you just like send off one person to get the vehicle and bring it back to you?
ABOUT HOW LONG is the drive to MCO so we'll know when to say we'll be bringing the rental vehicle to MCO? (last time we did limo and totally weren't paying attention to the drive or what time we got in the vehicle. But all I know is it sure didn't seem like a long drive and we sure got to MCO way earlier than we expected...)

Hey here's a weird question that maybe someone will know.
If you book a bunch of things using a credit card with an expiration date 08/08 (and it asked for that info and you put in that info) but you just got your new card and it expires 8/11...... that won't cause any problems will it? I mean it's the same credit card number, same name on the card- just the expiration date changed.
Oh wait- the security 3 digit number on the back is different too.

When cards expire say 08/08..... does that mean at the END of august or at the beginning it expires? Should I just bring both cards? LOL

I think the taxi ride to the park is about 20 minutes. (See this thread for more info...) We booked the 2 pm Encounter, but I think that time may be full now. I was worried about whether we'd be able to make an earlier time, but I think Bip is booked for the Dolphin Swim at 11:15. I figure we'll head over there as soon as we get off the ship and enjoy the water park before it's time for our Encounter.

Hey all.... sorry for being MIA for the past couple weeks. Probably going to be another week more. Went to WDW a couple weekends ago with my niece to say goodbye to the AC... wow, that was a lot harder than I thought. After we got back, I've been in full blown packing mode. Unfortunately, it's been packing up my office. The day has finally come and we're moving from our rented offices back into the main building next door. Ten years in one location and we've accumulated a lot of junk. I think I've packed like 30 boxes and there's one small area of the office that looks like a miniature box city. Really haven't been in the cruise packing mode but I'm hoping that will change next week. Tomorrow they come to take apart our furniture and move it to their new locations. Not much to do tomorrow except sit around and supervise the move. I'm all caught up now and feeling a little overwhelmed that I only have 3 Saturdays left to get my to do list done. <sigh> I'm just not ready.

I think I've caught everyone up on what they need and sent payments for bracelets, tours, etc. If there's anything else I need to do - please PM me.

OMG I just read what you wrote about AC then saw your signature line.
I didn't even know they were closing Pleasure Island and getting rid of AC also! When in the world did this happen?

Hopefully, I'll get the new pirate shirt in time for the cruise. If that's the case I plan to use parts of the shirt for something else.

If the new shirt doesn't get here in time... and you see a kid squeezed into his pirate shirt lookin' like a sausage... well, just smile & wave, smile & wave.

When you get off the ship the shuttle busses for the rental car companies will be there waiting.

I usually use Avis, but last April we used Budget & loved them.

I bring the whole gange on the shuttle. It's just easier for me.

It's about an hour to MCO. Straight shot. I map quested the directions last year & they were spot on.

You return the car right at the airport & then just walk from the garage across the street to the terminal. Very easy.

I was not planning to wear the embarkation shirts to dinner (that's the only ones I bought for us), I was probably going to change soon after the DIS meets....don't know about my kids though...that's a good question.

I have worn denim colored capris before...not sure if I am bringing them this cruise, but there was one cruise I was pretty casual. On pirate night, we wear denim things....very casual night there.

Okay so on pirate night it would be okay to wear our pirate tees (DH has embarkation/group one, I have another pirate shirt..... to be seen on that night/hard to explain) with DH wearing slacks and me wearing black capris? I mean everyone else is gonna be in costume- so no one is gonna hold US to the "dress code" that night are they? LOL I hope not.....

The code is fine, i got it from www.mousesavers.com, she does not post bad codes!! My code worked just like yours, it didn't give me a higher price or want a credit card. Don't worry!!

Chase cards are good til the end of the month. Why not just activate the new card so everything will be at the new exp date????Why would you need to bring 2?

The alert stays on for 30 days with Chase so don't call too early.

We leave on the 11th- but I"ll call again just to make sure it's on the notes. I'm not really sure where we'd use the card anyway, EXCEPT on the disney cruise and last cruise we didn't even tell them (same card and everything) and they never put a hold on it. LOL But we only used it at WDW then on the ship...... then at the airport before we came home. We never used our card like in foreign ports or anything so maybe that's why it never got stopped?

I think the taxi ride to the park is about 20 minutes. (See this thread for more info...) We booked the 2 pm Encounter, but I think that time may be full now. I was worried about whether we'd be able to make an earlier time, but I think Bip is booked for the Dolphin Swim at 11:15. I figure we'll head over there as soon as we get off the ship and enjoy the water park before it's time for our Encounter.

Yeah, I booked that time because that's the time we originally had for the DCL dolphin signature swim excursion. I didn't even think about it- just booked it the same time (works around our other excursions that evening- like Ruby teen cruise/etc.) but now I hope we're not late and miss out completely! oh that would be disastrous... it would be yet another cruise still not able to do the ONE that we have to have to have to do!
(please Lord don't let that happen again)

Thanks for checking in with us. I don't know about everyone else but I was worried about how things were going for you and everyone on the ship! I hop it doesn't end up being late to ports and messing up everyone's plans and such!

I'll be bringing my oldest pair of sneakers, and will abandon them at the end of the cruise to have the space available for other stuff on the return...

Half the stuff I'm taking is "disposable" - I already have the nearest Goodwill Store details printed as we'll be dropping off a lot of the clothing following the cruise. Most of my "dining" wear is ex-work tops that I don't like much anymore. One way trip for those.

I also stock pile underwear during the year that is destined for one last trip - saves doing washing while away - just wear and throw it away when done.

Works well for shoes too - if they have holes or I just don't like them any more, I wear them until I find a new pair I like and then either throw them away if they have really had it or leave at the nearest thrift store if they are still wearable.

We have a 13, 10 and 6 year old and will be doing the same excursions as you in Cabo and Aruba. Like you, we were scheduled for the Cliff Divers, but cancelled to join the group walking to the Fort.

It was hard finding excursions that the whole family can do. We are doing ziplining in PV after Tom showed me this past spring that they allow 6 year olds. At Cartagena, we're doing the Best of Cartagena tour.

I did cancel our Cliff Divers tour today so we'll be joining you and the rest of the group on the walk to the Fort. I'm already feeling kind of relieved that we'll be saving so much money!

I know that my DS10 would have loved to do the zipline. Not sure if DD8 would have done it or not, but I didn't want to get stuck watching the youngest two while the others were off having fun. We haven't told the kids about the Dolphin Encounter yet, but thankfully this is something we can all participate in!

Yes, there is a shuttle, and no there is no drop off charge! We used them in Dec, and they were wonderful.

I have so much to pack since we are going to be in LA for a week before the cruise.. How do I get all that in a suitcase??lol I really think I can get away with one big suitcase each and 2 garment bags.. gowns, suits tuxes.. Oh my and the shoes..

How many pairs of shoes is reasonable to bring. I think I have to take 6-7. HONEST!!!

I am a shoe person and five pairs will get me through the first two days.

So I'm a shoe person too and I don't know if 5 pairs is going to get me through 15 days! As I lay all my outfits out in my mind, I'm not seeing a lot of overlap in shoes. My formals are two different styles and require different pairs, my other dresses are different colors......aye! I'm not sure what I'm going tp do about shoes. I wonder if I have enough "dressy" flip flops that I don't have to bring heels at all. Hmmmmm....

Not always. This will be our first time doing so. We've always done Cocktail dress for me,suit for Kevin,no tie. Tux and formals this time.
