Actually, it was your story that made me appreciate the flexibility DH and I have at workThanks for keeping things in perspective for me. Yes, we do have a good life and our vacations are really the thing that keeps us going sometimes. We don't really have material things not even a home gaming system. (Yes I know, we are one of the last houses on the planet without one). I have told my kids they can buy their own, but they choose to spend on other things. They do each have a DS that they saved for and bought themselves. One of our cars is 10 years old and the other was 14 years old and just replaced two years ago with a new used car. For me, it is not about what I have and what others don't and it never will be. This lady commutes 10 minutes to work because she lives in one of the most expensive communities in the area and she drives a Jag. My DH commutes 1.5 hours each way and works most of the time while he is commuting. Yes, we chose to live this far away, but it is what we could afford. Anyway, I could go on and on about her, but she is not worth it.
Anyway, my kids and DH are the most important things in my life. Without them, life wouldn't be the same. My kids would give their money to the homeless people on the street, it affects them that much. We try to volunteer when we can to give back to our community and right now it has been to save the pool. My goal in life is to raise responsible, hard-working kids with good values who put others first and realize that they aren't the only people in the world. So, thanks Crash and Dan for reminding me that we are very fortunate. I do realize that a couple of people here have lost their jobs recently and for that I am truly sorry. We have been there before as well. I will let this go and remember to be thankful for all that I do have and remember those that have little or nothing. Does anyone have some extra caffeine for my solo road trip? I tend to fall asleep in a moving car when it is warm and sunny.![]()
ITA, sarcasm doesn't always translate in typing.
I'm sure her tongue was planted firmly in her cheek.
Can't resist.....
I hope y'all have room assignments before 8/18..... it will be real ugly with that many people camped out on deck!![]()

I think 7/17 or 7/18 is in line with Andrew and others thinking.....
Hi All
I have been enjoying a few (only 100 pages) of your multiple incarnations of this meet and greet thread. Last night I had posted about some of the fun activities, and was told that I needed to bulk up my posting count...so bear with me.
Our little family will be enjoying our first Disney Cruise...and as luck would have it, we were able to snatch a cancellation in Dec. 2007. So excited to get a chance to share in the fun.
Thanks for all of the help,![]()

Hi Cheryl,
Lovely flowers!!!![]()
Dan has also pulled that trick of sending the flowers on the wrong day! I'm thinking it was when our anniversary fell on a Sunday and he didn't want to pay extra for Saturday delivery (plus we aren't often home all day on a Saturday). I think he sent them on Friday to my office - so it was definitely a surprise.
Sorry - I was 3.5 when you got married and Dan was approaching 2!
Pamela
P.S. Why are there sooooo many Californians on this cruise and so few from the midwest?

I don't care how bad you think things are right now, this comment is extremely distasteful.
Cheryl,
Congrats!! I am married 15 years this year, my DH's grandparents are married 64. A long, happy marriage is an honor no amount of money can buy.
I aspire to be among that group. Luck has so much to do with life - hence my screen name. I am lucky to be married to a great man among so many other things including this trip!

If I envy the wealthy for anything it is for the travel opportunities, not the cars or houses....ok, maybe the houses sometimes....
I have something similar to Crash's chart I do to myself. I won't bore you w/ the details but even though we are better off than the huge majority of the world we compare ourselves to the 3-5% above us instead of being thankful we are above 95-97%.
I know she was only joking and while it didn't bother me, I can see where some with families in the military may have a problem![]()
I'm sure I offend someone, somewhere, at sometime....hard not to![]()

At this point, we don't have any yet either. My kids, especially DS10, are plain eaters and they didn't really care for Blue Bayou when we ate there 2 years ago. IMO, I would go with Storytellers Cafe at the GC. The food is very good and I think it would be a great place for a birthday. I will ask the kids when they get up and see if they have any other suggestions. Will you have a car? If so, the fried chicken dinner at Knott's Berry Farm is another one of our favorites. Just my thoughts.![]()
No mistake. We've found that unless we really want to eat at a specific restaurant at a specific time ressies's were not needed. I general we grab something to go ( or sit) at the food places in Adventure Land, Tomorrow Land or New Orleans Sq (ditto for DCA)
You can always walk to DTD which has pizza etc. and is only a 3 min walk from either park.
Warning......the food places along Rivers of America get swamped about 1 hr before a Fantasmic show as folks grab the restaurant tables to watch the show from.
Andy
We are on the tour, show and lunch. I will be lubing the family with sunscreen and insect and bringing both. I would feel safe with shorts.
Thanks for making me feel better about this. We have been to DisneyWorld twice and had many dining ressies, we always felt like we were running to make our ressie on time. I also have a couple of friends who are DisneyWorld fanatics and they are really giving me a hard time about not scheduling any dining in Disneyland. I think we are just gonna play it by ear, when we are hungry we will eact where we are.
Knowing Kristina, I thought it was pretty funny
No....... I take that honor of the most typing mistakes!!!![]()

Don't even joke about that. I've been held at gunpoint by guerillas before and it really wasn't very fun.
Yes, I'm dead serious.
NOW...who wants to go with me in Cartegena??
That sucks. Some people just don't get that there is more to life than work - and that is sad.
My boss is a 50-something workaholic. Never had a husband or kids. Takes pride in actually losing vacation days because she carries too many year to year. Leaves the office about 8 each night. Rolls her eyes when people go on vacation...
Pirate Tracker...
For my birthday, DH got me this cool little tracking gizmo called SPOT. Uses GPS to let folks know where you are, and I can send OK, Help, and 911 calls using it. He got cause we're going to be in the back woods - and cell doesn't work. Plus it works anywhere in the world.
Anyway, I tested out the tracking feature yesterday during our shirt run. It's pretty cool - here's the URL... (I prefer the Hybrid view)http://share.findmespot.com/shared/faces/viewspots.jsp?&glId=0iAykhlmivFJRviK9c1yOFMnXnYLerg8p
We'll have it on during the cruise, so that all our friends can watch and be jealous.![]()
