Dear Jeff,
Sorry, my fault... :rolleyes1

Double sorry for not PMing. I fell a sleep w/kids last night, AGAIN :worried: .

This morning, I have to go to a farmers market before I take my DD4 to a class, follows by a gym class, follows by my DS6's class, then a b-day party @ goldland. So, I will promise to do it after everything is done.

My shopping journal #8:
Bought 3D Disney stickers (could not wait to go on sale) for cruise magnet, again, at Michaels

Happy 1 month & 26 days to go day!!

The only thing I might get from the DCL catalog are teh new water bottles. I thought they were cute and would get used both on the cruise and back at home.

Princess magnets, I LOVE it! Did Michael's have other Disney magnet sets? Maybe something "boy friendly?":rotfl2: My DS4 loves to play with magnets on the refrigerator, he would really enjoy that. It must be a 4-year old thing. ;)

Dear CAmom2boys,

I am still thinking about those water bottles, they are too cute! But then, I still have a couple from DL, another couple from Legoland, another couple from local restaurant... :confused3

I really want to show you my fridge. It is a mess and busy, but fun and colorful. Anyway, if I am remembering correctly, Michaels must had CARS version of magnets. They also have sticker booklets of Disney. They are $1.99 while non-Disney booklets are a dollar each. My son picked up non-Disney pirates sticker booklets. They are cool. I am thinking about them for secret FE gifts. Yes, I go to Micheals as if I work there.

My shopping journal #9:
Bought glowsticks

Finally, I am allowed to post a link now. :yay:

I was just going through cruisers thread from 6/1/08 trip and started to worry about the kids club.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1411353&page=107

My DS6 is sooo looking forward to going to the club (he has been checking podcasts on DCL sites) and he is declaring not go off the ship for excursions. I do not want to disappoint him plus, my DH and I are looking forward to some alone from the kids time as well. I cannot expect their (CM) stress level will go down by 8/10, but I can expect they go up. :scared1:

My shopping journal #10:
Bought soft cooler case

Thanks Ayumi. I don't expect to have time tomorrow, but I think I'll try to get to Michael's this week.

Happy Father's Day to all the our Disney Dads!

Ayumi I think the kids clubs will be fine. I truly think that some people have very out of touch expectations so that no matter what happens in the kids clubs they won't be happy. My DD9 loves the clubs so much -she makes friends, loves the activities and sometimes we have to drag her out. My DD4 was not so thrilled with the clubs last year but went when we had Palo etc. She is much more excited about going this year. I think that you just have to almost ease them into it if they are at all nervous about it. In fact with DD4 we will make sure to take her the first night during "Family time" and then at least one more time take her back and stay for a bit while she explores and plays. The counselors have been great and we have found that if we can connect with one or two great counselors, and we can make them our "go to" person when dropping off, DD4 was much more comfortable and didn't give staying a second thought.

I'd also strongly encourage you to choose times when there are activities that your kids want to do -- make sure that it's not just "Free time" as those times seem to be tougher for shy kids to adjust to when it is the first thing going on .

Just a few tips. Hopefully I didn't jinx us for this trip ! :lmao:

I'm curious about the Hollywood things you are planning on your trip. I've been to Universal, Beverly Hills, seen Graumann's Chinese Theater and the walk of fame...but the kids want to do something Hollywood related. I am hoping that something will be taping and we can get tickets but I guess that list doesn't get published until 30 days out. Thinking of Universal but wondering what the recent fire has done and how that has affected the real studio tour part of the Studios.

Let me know if you have any good suggestions. We may just hit Beverly Hills (rodeo drive) and Santa Monica for a casual shopping, sightseeing day and may swing by Graumann's and the walk of fame.

Hi Jeff! One of the things we wanted to do but are probably going to save for another trip is the Warner Bros VIP Tour... It's not too long and is one of the more reasonable excursions... I know Sony do something too - here's a link... ::yes::

We came to a monumental decision today about this cruise. We have been wanting to figure out a day to skip the dining room and do Topsiders since we have never done that on any of our other cruises.

Today we decided to skip formal night on this sailing which saves us a lot of extra packing we don't have to do too. We don't plan to get a formal family photo or anything so it just made sense given the fact that we are going to be away a longer time than normal (2 plus weeks) and thus need to pack a lot anyway. We'll hit formal night in November.

Only rub will be if we are in AP for the show that night. So hopefully that wont' happen and if it does we'll have to switch our rotation.

I was just looking at that online but it may be "too grown up" for our kids (9 and 4).

I'd forgotten your children were that young, Jeff. In that case, I guess the studio tours might be dull. Maybe try to visit Disney's El Capitan theatre - there's a stage show on there in August and it looks a stunning piece of Hollywood history... :thumbsup2

Good idea! :thumbsup2 I was thinking about doing that when it's just Samuel and I in August '09... ::yes::

Yep. We actually think it's great fun to get all gussied up for formal night but August in Mexico and a tux - just not sure. And the girls - putting them in tights I just think they'd rather skip it this time. In November when we cruise, the ship is all decked out for the holidays so it just seems more "natural" to dress formally.

Helloooooooooo out there all your lurkers. In case you haven't read backwards, we are trying to arrange a DIS meet onboard at 2:45 p.m. in the Promenade Lounge on our first day (just before the safety drill). We'd love for as many folks to join us as can. Please PM me your information (names of folks in your party, hometown, kids' ages, early/late dining, cabin number if you want to participate in a Fish Extender exchange) as I am compiling a list. I'll hold off on sending the list to those who have sent their information until next week and then if we need to update it along the way with new names we will.

Thanks!

jeff

Giving us a little *bump* as we're about to slip onto page 2!
