8/10/2008 - Mexican Party Cruise - Who's Here??

We have one more week of school to go. But, my DS7 hasn't had homework for a couple of weeks now, so school's out as far as I'm concerned.:cool1: At least my work is done. ;)

I'm starting to do a little cruise shopping myself. I went to a party store yesterday at lunch and picked up a few pirate trinkets for my boys. Then I hit the Disney Character Warehouse and got Pirate Mickey Ears, 2 for $6. I found a pirate shirt for myself and a few other surprises for the boys. I'm planning to make a gift basket of my own for them to be waiting for them in our stateroom. They had large Pirate Mickey plush for $20, but I passed. If I had known DH would get a bonus yesterday, I might not have shown such restraint.:rolleyes1

I don't have a fish extender, but it sounds like a lot of fun!

Thanks so much for the warm welcomes!!:chewy:

jd99, are you originally from Pgh, PA? I went to college in Pittsburgh and lived there for three years. It was such a beautiful city. I loved it, but it was just too far from my home town. It took me 24 hours from my dorm room door to my parents house. So I moved to Silicon Valley. It only takes 10 hours to get to my parents or 6 hours to DCL port in LA!!

Happy 1 month & 28 days to go day!!:ccat:

Yep. Born and raised here and I went to college here too (U of Pittsburgh). I actually lived in Southern California right out of grad school for a couple of years but had the same reaction - it was too far from my hometown so I came back. Been back ever since.

Have a great day!

Jeff

:wave2: Hi Everybody! It's been a while since I have been on...Hope everyone is good....I am soooo ready for this trip....I almost changed to the Repo but they wouldn't transfer all of my money so guess I will have to wait for another time....I would love to do a meet/greet that would give my dd a chance to meet others...

How about we all decide where to meet on the first day for those who want to visit for a bit and perhaps have kids meet each other.

I propose the following:

2:45 p.m. in the Promenade Lounge just in advance of the lifeboat drill. We have found this a great time to hook up with other DISers before everyone goes their separate ways. We've also been able to coordinate when kids go to the clubs for the first time after meeting one another.

I'd be happy to also keep a list of everyone on the cruise who wants to be included so that we all know who we are meeting the first day. you can PM me your information: First names, hometown, dinner seating, ages of kids, email address, anything else you might want to share. Then I'll compile a list and email it to everyone who participates. If we want to do a Fish Extender exchange, then we need to include cabin number too.

Let me know what you all think.

Jeff

Hi and welcome to all of our new cruisers!:) We would love to attend the cruise meet. I'll pm you with all of our info Jeff.

I cannot tell you how much I wish that school was over with here in NY. My DS had 3 tests to study for the other night. This weekend my Girl Scout troop is going to Jam Camp - we are spending the night at a fairground with 3,000 other Girl Scouts in our council - God help me since I don't camp.:scared1: My son is also camping all weekend with Boy Scouts. He just got nominated for the Order of the Arrow and he is going through his ordeal his weekend. Sounds a bit strange, I know. Let's just hope he makes it through it! Then my daughter has her dance recital on Saturday night. Oh yeah - and then it is Fathers Day - AGGH!!!!! There is just too much going on!!!!

I hope you all will have a much more relaxing weekend than I will be having!

My boys play sports, no such thing as relaxing weekends around here. :lmao: Saturday we have an end of year baseball picnic and cub scout graduation. Then back-to-back hockey on Sunday. Good luck to both your son and daughter.:wizard:

We're open to meeting too. I'll pm my info.

Oh my!!! I feel tired just reading your schedules!!! :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: My DS plays sports but as he's at boarding school they do all the ferrying back and forth!!!
He has lessons on Saturday mornings and matches in the afternoon but the rest of the weekend is more of a chill-out time for him...

This Saturday I'm off to see Marguerite with my DD. It's a new musical by the guys who wrote Les Miserables and Miss Saigon so should be good... :goodvibes

We have gifts for DH on Father's Day but we're not going out for dinner until next Saturday when he and I are sharing the honours in a joint Father's Day/Birthday celebration... Happy Friday!!! :dance3:

It occurs to me that we're counting down rather fast now so time to do some shopping!!! This morning I bought a fun necklace and earring set for Pirates Night...

Shiver me timbers!!! pirate:

Good morning All. One day closer to the cruise. Just picked up a substantial writing project from a new client that I am hoping we can finish off before we leave for California. If not, I'll be the guy at the Promenade Lounge late every night with my laptop! :scared1:

Thanks to those who have PMd their information so far. Waiting to see who else does so. For those who didn't read back, I'm putting together a list of our cruise gang for a 2:45 p.m. Meet at the Promenade Lounge on day one just in advance of the lifeboat drill. So PM me your names, kids ages, hometown, dinner seating, email address and anything else you want folks to know.

For those with the busy schedules I can identify. We are finally done with soccer so we are just left with swim team and dance for the girls although DD9 is also starting tennis lessons next week. Last weekend, we had the following schedule on Saturday: 8-9 a.m. - Swim Team Time Trials. 10 a.m. Soccer Game 1 p.m. Birthday Party for friend of DD9 2 p.m. Birthday party for friend of DD4 and 5 p.m. Graduation party for a neighbor. We decided we hadn't done enough so we joined some neighbors for a drive in movie that night. I'm tired again just typing that.

Have a great Friday all!

Anyway, for those peeps who are interested or have nothing better to do (as if!) here's a link to my new pre-trip report! Just when you thought it was safe to DIS... :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Thanks for the info ayumac!

Dear Becky,
I am glad you can locate the thread.
I need to start sewing...:worried:

My shopping journal #4:
Bought one box of sea band, just in case!

Happy 1 month & 27 days to go day!!

My shopping journal #5:
Bought an only-used-once tux for my DS6 on craigslist for $8!!

Then I hit the Disney Character Warehouse and got Pirate Mickey Ears, 2 for $6. I found a pirate shirt for myself and a few other surprises for the boys. I'm planning to make a gift basket of my own for them to be waiting for them in our stateroom.

Dear CAmom2boys,
I think creating your own gift baskets are the greatest idea!!
I went through what DCL offers, and I could not find anything that "I" want to give to them. I do not need any snack for the world's biggest picky eater, my DS6, sand toys we can get at Target to way less, and rests we already own.

Also, I did not think of going to Disney Warehouse!! That is how Anaheim people shop, smart idea. We have one not so close, but 25 minutes drive at Grate Mall where outlet stores gathers indoor. I can go "alone" while my kids are in summer school. Finally, same school at the same time :yay: , at least for summer.

My shopping journal #6:
Bought you-can-dress Disney princess magnets for $1 at Michael's for my DD4 to play & stick at our state room door. :ccat:

Waiting to see who else does so.

Dear Jeff,
I will work on PM thing tonight. I have to do a playdate this morning and since I fell a sleep with my kids last night, I have to clean the house this morning. But, since I am a biggest procrastnator of all, I had to come here first to see what everyone is up to.

Good luck with your work, and hope the network is fast enough for you on DCL. :rolleyes1

P.S. UPitt is a great school. I took some courses there and met some greatest professors. I just adored the campus. I have not found a school as beautiful as that in Pgh here in Northern CA.

Great Pre-trippie! Got me very excited for our trip too! You have every detail worked out. I haven't even booked a rental car yet! :scared1: I think we are actually just going to take a cab from the OC airport to the GCH - lots of folks have said it's easy and quick and about a third of the cost of a limo. Since we are arriving late at night and the girls may be asleep (or sleepy) they won't get to enjoy the limo ride that much so why spend the bucks.

I need to get some work done and then I need to get on some of these bookings!

The only thing I might get from the DCL catalog are teh new water bottles. I thought they were cute and would get used both on the cruise and back at home.

Princess magnets, I LOVE it! Did Michael's have other Disney magnet sets? Maybe something "boy friendly?":rotfl2: My DS4 loves to play with magnets on the refrigerator, he would really enjoy that. It must be a 4-year old thing. ;)

Yep we are going to have to check our local Michael's too for the princess set. That could go a long way in keeping our youngest (Emily who is four) busy while the family is getting ready.
