7 month reservation window changing

I read on the other board which stated the death of the 7 month reservation window. Does anyone know any thing about this change? This was the first I heard of it. I thought that it was important to buy where you want to stay in order to get the reservations where you want with the advantage of the 7 month reservation window during peak times. I didn't know this was changing.

The 7 month booking rules haven't changed , I read the same post you did and I believe the intention of the post is that previously you could book most anywhere you wanted at the 7 month window and now people are starting to have problems with getting what they want. Heck some people are even having problems at their own resort according to some of the posters on the DIS .

The 11/7 booking window still exists. However, the POS states that DVC only has to guarantee a one month booking advantage at your home resort (or any resort you own points at).

There has been no policy change. There have been a lot of hysteria and doomsday scenarios being kicked around here that have been repeated so many times people are starting to take them as fact. You can book your home resort at 11 months out based on availability, and at 7 months out you can book the other DVC resorts based on availability. Same as always. As dvc-NE has stated, there is language in the contract that could alter that but there is no hint or indication anything like that is going to happen.

As dvc-NE stated they could change it to a one month priority window. It is very doubtful anything like that would happen. I think they wrote a lot of different options to allow them different ways to deal with the wind down near the end of DVC. They can suspend banking & borrowing, they cna change the ressie priority window, they can re-instate a lottery type priority like they originally had for Christmastime (and ceased using several years ago). I thik all of these things are to give them different options when we get near 2042.

I think it more appropriate that they'd extend the window rather than compress it, as many guests are dissatisfied that they cannot get a room at their home resort 6 months prior... However, as Chuck said, it is extremely unlikely they'd ever make any such change.

I just spent the entire day yesterday reading every paper and book disney sent me for closing. They basically can ( not saying they will ) change anything and everything. The ONLY thing we get for sure is our alotment of points each year and use them in our home resort. BUT none of this stuff would probably happen I state all this to say Disney , IMO , has thought of everything even if they havent informed us to why/how yet.
