My husband got his haircut at the Main Street barber shop the other week. My daughter was with him, and she asked if they could put some sparkles in her hair. They told my husband they could fix her hair up, and put paint and confetti in it for $5 (I hear they have uped it to $7.50 now, still a bargain!). It's not the same as the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique experience, but my 9 year old daughter loved it. Many people stopped us to ask if we had it done at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.

This is a good alternative if you don't want to spend the money or just can't get into Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.

Here are some pictures of Arminda when they were done:

When it dried it looked kind of metallicy, and shinier. I liked the carriage and castle they put in!

The next day, when she took her bath, the water was hot pink, and filled with confetti!

Very cute! I'll have to show her picture to my daughter to see if she would want to do it!

Since we're dead set against spending BBB kinda money, that's a great alternative. Thanks for the information.

I honestly must say that the trip to the barber shop was one of the highlights of our trip. My ds(1) got a first hair cut there with free Mickey ears. My ds(6) and husband also got haircuts and they were the best cuts that they have had in a long time. Michael the barber was the great!! My baby just loved him and he was so much fun! I definately will make sure that we stop there again. I'll have to post my pictures of the haircuts. Too cute! He even suprised my husband with confetti in his hair.

I wonder if they will let you do this alternative even if no one in your party is getting a hair cut already. :scratchin

I wanted to share one more picture.

I had taken Lydia (our 4 yo) to get some of the characters autographs while Brian (dh) got his picture taken. When I walked into the barber shop, this is what I saw:

I was a little panicked until Brian told me they were just putting glitter and paint in her hair, and NOT cutting it!

We've been in there before and have seen girls come in and get a sprinkling of "pixie dust." I was watching though and they didn't pay for it, so I thought it was a WDW freebie. These girls didn't sit in a chair and have their hair brushed or anything like that, not did they get the paint. It was just spray, sprinkle, and leave. Hmm.... I guess they are charging now.

Love the pink though.

thats looks a little similar to the bbb cool dude package for $10

They have done that to my daughter before too, but this was a complete hairdo. They brushed it, braided it, sprayed it, sparkled it, pinned it, confettied it, painted it, sprayed it somemore and then put on the little castle confettis. In other words, she go pampered!

yes they do. My DD had hers done on our last trip. It was really cute and none of us had our hair done. We went just to have hers done! You might want to add a little tip also to the hairdresser because it is such a great price!

Is this something you just walk in, or do you have to have an appt.? Also, I wonder if they can do long hair? Thanks!:goodvibes

Well, it looks great. That's for sure. Like I said, the girls I saw didn't have the full pampering. Just walked in sprayed, and sprinkled, so I'm sure that explains the difference. Thanks for clearing it up.

We love the main street barber shop!! Michael is really a neat guy and that is who we see each time we go. It is funny, we all look a little "wooly" for a few months before our trip...just so we will need haircuts and just have to go see Michael!!! ;)
DS had his first cut.. at 5months...just one little clip...to say it was cut there.
DD will be getting her first one in July....!!!!

So, if you see a really hairy group walking around.... we are on our way to see Michael!! :thumbsup2

Its walk-in only which was the only thing I did not like about the barber shop. We got there as the park opened to get DD long hair trimmed and sparkled. There was a family of 6 ahead of us, all getting haircuts and pixe dust. Only two stylists were working and they were excruciatingly slow. That was our longest wait that trip - over an hour. No one takes a number and people just walk in and think they are next. Personally, I would like to see appointments made and tied to a credit card for no-shows.

Do they not sign you up when you walk in the door? Or, do you stand in line to guarantee your spot? I'm sure my two dd's would love to get this done! More info. please. Thanks! Jennifer

I have always waited a VERY long time to get DS hair cut! Usually 2 hours, if not more. There is no list, you take note of who is in front of you and go after them. It is quite stressful honestly, because I always have people trying to go in front that just walked in. Everyone is usually scattered about the shop and outside.

Is there any age limit to who can get their hair fixed, painted, and sparkled for $5? And I mean upper age limit! I want to get DS's first haircut there in Sept, but now I'm thinking it would be fun to get mine fixed up. After all, when you're at Disney, everyone can be a kid, right? (BTW -- I'll be the adult with their hair fixed on the Dumbo ride! :rotfl: )
