$7.50 alternative to Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

Anyone can get the their hair done for $5, no age limit. Last time we went in and looked and it looked to be a pretty short wait, 2 getting hair cut, 1 more in front we thought. But the 2 kids were with 4 adults, all of which got their hair done (not cut), but it took a while! The other baby was his first hair cut, took about 30 minutes, he was very good, they do just work slow. Then the father got his cut too. So our short wait turned into about two hours!

I do think there are better times to try it, a parade would be great. Or I was thinking hopefully around lunch time. We have tried the morning up until about 2 and always had waits, never during a parade though.

We love the barber shop, too, but I hope they don't start taking reservations! We like the serendipity of it. If the line is long, we say Oh well, and move on. If not, we do it. I would hate to see it become another thing that has to be scheduled at WDW. Just my .02.

I completely agree with roadtripper. I talked to Michael the last time we were there and he said they have tried scheduling, a number system and other alternatives and nothing has worked but just old-fashioned waiting in line. One thing though, you really need to pay attention to who is already waiting. I have not seen Michael do any updos and when most of the people are waiting for that they start skipping past the updo people and if you are not paying attention, you could lose your spot.

I wonder though once the BBB is open if they will continue to do the up-dos since there is an alternative available, even though it is more money. :confused3 More than likely, they will just raise the price at the barber shop. :sad2:

That was my question too. Since BBB is in MK, how could they possibly charge only $5 for this. The up do is teasing and a pony to make it an up do. No curling of the hair. We went in the later afternoon and walked right in as well.

They do not take appointments. It is walk in only. We are going on Thursday to WDW and I am planning on taking my DS to get his hair cut. They will paint ::MickeyMo ears on their hair. But also they have glow in the dark paint. I am going to get this for my DS 6.:cool1: I will let you know how it goes.

I want to take my DD there for her first haircut. Yep, she's almost 4 and has never had a real haircut. Her hair is down to her butt. I know she's going to cry when they trim it because she cries when I brush her hair. It gets very tangled. But a little glitter and paint might make her forget that.

Did any ladies ever get a haircut there? I haven't had a real haircut in over 3 years and I want to treat myself.

DS got his first haircut there in Jan 2004, so cute, they pixie dusted DD hair . When we went back on 2005 both kids just got pixie dust, my friend and I went in 2006 and we both got pixie dusted also, its a must do for us now! We have the BEST pic in front of the castle with the kids and their hair done with them holding Tink!!!! So much fun

I never thought of doing that for myself, but my Dd5 would love if we both got pixie dusted!! Thanks for the cute idea!!

My DH got his haircut there when he was 3...it's about the only thing he remembers from that trip. That and Goofy messing up his hair right after he got it cut! I can just imagine a 3 y.o. version of my DH getting cranky with Goofy! I'd love to have my hair "done" at the MK sometime. I never knew the barber shop did gal's hair!

I have had my hair cut, just trimmed, it is long so it was easy. They didn't do the bangs but I didn't specify. I don't wash it or anything there so it is something I would do once and that is about it. DS4 has had it cut probably 3-4 times and DH 2x. They normally do a great job on DH and DS.

I definately prefer some of the barbers over others, Michael is the best. Older gentlemen.

Thanks for the heads up! We'll have to keep it on our list of things to try.

For our upcoming trip we have an appt. @ BBB (thanks Nana) early in the week, but I think we will go to the Barber for an updo for the way home on our last day before we fly home.

Thanks for the tip!!!

Everyone is very welcome!

I was wondering the same thing about if they would continue to offer the service for $5 once BBB is opened in the park. I hope so!

I hadn't thought of getting my own hair glittered there, but that might be pretty fun! Maybe I can talk my sister, SIL, and Mom into doing it too! Wouldn't that be something!

I am also trying to convince my sister that my nephew doesn't need a haircut until we go to Disney next year (he'll be pushing two then) so he can get the "First Haircut" ears. They are so cute! I think Sawyer will look adorable with long hair until then, don't you?

I was going to photoshop some hair onto him, but I'm too lazy to figure out how to do that. So, use your imagination!

Whenever we have gone to the barbershop, there is very little wait. I wondered if it ever got busy in there. I too would rather they did not take appointments. I get tired of having to have an appointment for everything I want to do at Disney. It's too bad they don't have a signin sheet though.

I think Michael is the name of the guy that usually cuts my husband's hair. I will have to find his picture.

I am so happy I stumbled upon this thread. My DD just turned 2 and has never had a haircut - it took him so long to grow hair that I just can't part with it, even though it's kind of turning into a mullet now. I can't think of a better place to do it than MK. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!:woohoo:

Make sure you take pictures to share with us! :)

I searched and found this thread...I remember reading it months ago. We're going in a few weeks and I was wondering if anyone had been and tried to get the pixie dust sprinkling/hair paint since BBB opened up? I don't want to mention to my DDs if it's not a possibility and BBB is not in our trip budget.

I know this may sound cheesy, but Bath and Body works have these little cans of spray body/hair glitter in a few different scents. They spray on very nice and are really pretty, pixie dust style. I bought a few cans (on sale now for $5.00) and used it on my DD(14) for New Year Eve. I did a little quick up do and sprayed this in her hair, and added a few fun rhinestone bobby pins! It looked so cute. Even though she's 14 she still wants to go to BBB this March, I told her I could do the same thing in the hotel room with my can of spray! She didnt think that was too funny.. I wish I took a picture of her hair, I didnt even think about it.
