Karen which ports did you go to and what did you do? Did you do a glacier tour? I need to hear about your trip so I can plan our trip.

We went to Ketchikan, where Bob fished (had some of the smoked salmon today!) and I went on a drive through town to the Saxman village and saw totem poles, then went to a old cannery. Then got on a boat to go back to Ketchikan and they pulled over close to shore when we saw eagles or other wild life. Also pulled along side to watch some Orca play.
In Jeanau we went to Mendenhall Glacier Park and then on to an all you can eat salmon bake. Enjoyed that trip too.
We spent a day cruising the inside passage and then another day we cruised up to and around Hubbard Glacier.
Our last shore day was in Victoria where we went to Buchart Gardens. That was simply fabulous.
I picked Celebrity because it only stopped at three ports, they sailing days were beautiful.

Thanks, that helps a bit. Were these all done on your own or thru the cruiseline? Yup, I'm full of questions.
I would love to do the salmon bake, but the rest of the family wouldn't like it since they don't eat salmon.

We did them all through the cruise line. We have friends that had the same excursion on a different line. They had chicken too! Besides, I was watching them put a sauce on the salmon and I thought it was gravy. I was prepared to be grossed out when I found out it was brown sugar, butter and lemon juice. WOW!!! It was so delicious, maybe they would just enjoy a scoop of sauce!:rotfl:
Fishing was cool, because the company they use prepares and then sends the fish to your home. (For a price, but it is really delicious)

Does anyone know if there is a place on the Disney site that shows where rooms are located. My sil booked and our room number is 7606. I wanted to know if this if forward, aft or right in the middle.:confused3

Tom & I just checked out the Alaska itinerary. I'll admit, I like it a whole lot more than I did before. I also like that it doesn't overlap with the ABD if we want to do that in the future. We are seriously considering it. Now just waiting for points/price to see what we want to do.

You can look at the deck plans or do a dummy booking and it will show you the layout of each deck and where the cabins are located.
But here's an easier way to remember: port side cabins start at (for deck 7) 7000 and then go to 71?? and for starboard side they run from 7500 to 76??. So your cabin is located midship to the aft area. It's a cat. 5, verandah cabin and located just up the hall from us, we are in 7620 a navigator's verandah.

Come on Maryann, book the 8/9/11 cruise and go with us. :thumbsup2

Isn't this near the "secret" public deck on deck 7 aft?

I guess the "secret" public deck is quite the secret. I didn't know about it. But it is near the aft elevators.:sad1:

The deck 7 secret deck is located all the way aft and is only open from 7am - 7pm. It used to be open later but of course it's been spoiled by some that wanted to party out there at all hours and cause trouble out there.

If you aren't staying on deck 7 or don't explore each of the decks you probably won't know about this open deck area. We sailed 3 or 4 times before we knew about it since we hadn't stayed on deck 7 or eaten on the back deck at Topsiders or BBB. You can see the deck from the back seating area at the buffet and from the last 4 suites on deck 8.

 Everybody?

Anyone remember me? :upsidedow

Anyway, I'm still hoping that there are familiar faces on here. As of now, we are still going but if talk keeps surfacing about airfare, and DH hears about it, we may not be going. SIGH.

Anyway just wanted to pop in and say hi to anybody. I'll skim and see what I can pick up in the last couple of pages.

Hi Jill,

Steve and I did this same exact tour in 2000. Many years ago, but it was definitely nice. Same ports, Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan. Although as someone said, doing it with the Mouse would be so much more fun. Ketchikan was dry for once and nice. Skagway, I think I forgot to book something through the ship but had absolutely no problem finding someone at shoreside to give us a tour of the local area and we evern got to stop by some creek and see a couple of bears fishing. Saw some eagles pretty close up and the local guide was pretty informative about eagles, like they mate for life, etc.

All in all, a very beautiful country. I enjoyed it very much. If I had little kids, I would worry that they would not have had a good enough time but this time it will be with the Mouse so I have no worries about that. Plus, my kids are older now, they are on their own.

It will be fun. Me and my family are considering doing the last Alaskan cruise and the repo down to LA. Assuming the economy will be better by that time.

As of now, we are still booked but if things don't get better quick, we may have to cancel too.

Anyone else drop out yet?

Come on, you and Steve MUST be on this cruise! JoAnn isn't coming, and Izzie seems unlikely . . .
