I know - right away I knew neither of those would work with my kids' school schedule . . . I wonder how many families with children can work those dates?

Its okay check out the Wonder throught the Canal thread!:lmao:

Someone posted that there children will only be able to make 3 days of school in January because of that cruise!:scared1:

I am no angel but a couple of missed days for mine are the max! Maybe 1 week if they were still young (Not with 2 of mine in High School).

They would be so far behind you might as well skip the rest of the school year!:sad2::rotfl:

I've already told my TA what I want for the Alaskan cruises - the chill factor doesn't bother me in the least! I'm most excited about all the wildlife that can be viewed in a natural environment:goodvibes But I do believe you will have another chance to do Alaska on DCL if you and Tom don't decide to book next summer, MaryAnn.:)

I agree with you - I think they will work out Hawaii by the next year and then switch off those when not doing the Mexican Riviera - or even do Hawaii during the cooler months and Alaska during the warmer ones. . .

I will wait for 2012 & Hawaii!:thumbsup2

Will do the Dream though in 2011!:santa:

I don't get it . . . what kind of message are you sending your kids - our vacation is more important than your education?:confused3:confused3:confused3

I saw that too and couldn't believe those people are actually going to take their kids out of school that long. Doesn't matter what age they are, no kid should miss that much school.

Robert meant to tell you this earlier - we stayed at BLT last Friday night. Our friends booked a 1 bedroom and got a 2 bedroom at checkin. They added us to their ressie so we could have keys and a parking pass. We had things to do so we didn't get over there until 9:00pm, just in time to watch the H'ween Wishes at 9:30 from the balcony. We could hear the music that is piped into the Contemporary out there.

So would it a good experience?

Considering we were only there from 9pm until 7:30am I would say it was. We didn't go up to the 16th floor since we would had to have gone done to the first floor then transferred to a different elevator to be escorted up to that one since they are only allowing DVC members booked on points up there. If you are a non-member who is borrowing points or a non-member or member paying cash then you can't go up there. Not sure if that will stay in place permanently or not.
Our friends explored up there and walked over to the Contemporary and had a 'lousy burger' at the quick serve place. Don't think they walked out to the pool, but you can see it from inside and it looks really cool.
Wish we had more time to explore but we had an 8am appt. with the cable company so we had to leave early.

You can come over & visit us when we are in the GV in April!:cool1::banana::woohoo::yay::dance3:
I will take you up to the Roof!:cool2:

We were out there the same time as you, and came back Wednesday morning and went back to work on Thursday as well. My DS wanted to see the KSC launch, but as it was due early morning, I said to put him off that it would have a dealy, well I was pleased that in fact it did, twice, I saw the TV pictures of the Expressway queues post launch and they looked very bad.

I have seen it (just) in the past, we were at Seaworld in a show, Dolphin or Shamu, and it took off during that and they said look left now, and I saw it.

Just over 2 hours back to AKL from KSC - not too bad considering & at least half the time it would have taken in the UK! Trying to catch up - work is manic as I'm in my last week before I change jobs & everyone wants their pound of flesh plus some!

No way would our school allow it - it's fight enough pulling the eldest out for the last 4 days of the academic year to do this cruise. Our local education authorities also have the legal power to impose fines for taking kids out of school for holidays. I have no issues with this cruise as the educational benefit far out weighs the last 4 days where they only seem to play games etc.

Hey all, still lurking............updates.............we are now thinking of a Greek cruise next summer (only 7 days in July)............I'll let you know, if that's what we do, how it goes....................

In 2011, we're thinking of a short 3,4, or 5 Dreams cruise and our number one Magic cruise is still the Med, so we're also thinking of that............anyone else doing that one?

Hi JoAnn nice to see you still lurking.

Wow, you plans keep changing. We are going to do Alaska on the Wonder on 8/9/2011. I've got my request into my TA already but I'm thinking I may have her price us out a cat. 3 in addition to the cat. 7. Just got that idea in my head.

Ooooh, Greece. If that was on the 2011 itinerary, we'd be there in a heartbeat. Keep us posted about your plans.

Glad you are still lurking!! What about Alaska in 2011?

I was so excited when they announced Alaska! But now that I have thought more about the itinerary, I am a bit disappointed. Three shore days, that's it. And using the Vancouver port means that an Alaska land based pre or post stay is really a separate trip. Any one else?

We only had 3 shore days on our Alaskan cruise a few weeks ago. I really enjoyed the cruising days. and they would be much more fun with the Mouse!!:thumbsup2

Karen which ports did you go to and what did you do? Did you do a glacier tour? I need to hear about your trip so I can plan our trip.
