I do hope so. This is really going to be a different holiday for us. We normally do WDW or recently we've beeen to Australia, Canada or somewhere on the Med. To do a Staycation is something different and we're really looking forward to it. We got lots of fun things planned. In Ireland we're initally staying in Kinsale which is a lovely fishing village that is the gormet capital of Ireland, we're also staying in a cottage right in the north on the edge of The Giants Causeway where we're also visiting Bushmills distillary. To break our drive up Ireland we're staying in Birr Castle just outside Athlone and we're going to visit the Harland and Woolf dockyard which is where they built the Titanic. I could go on and on but that should whet your appitite ;) ;)

I think a full blog report is in order........:woohoo:

When Bob and I were in London a couple of years ago, we went in to have fish and chips and absolutely everyone working there were Russian. :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 That is just wrong!

When I was there I never heard a British accent, everyone there was a toursit and the clerks in the shops were foreigners!:confused3 :rolleyes1

Andrew if you can predict the future you are right up there with Bernie Madoff!:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Hey did you read that DCL withdrew it's Alaska port application? :thumbsup2

Hawaii here we come!:cool1: :woohoo:  :dance3: :thumbsup2

This is very interesting, Andrew? We need confirmation.:woohoo: I would DEFINITELY do a Hawaiian DCL cruise..........:cloud9:

I'm sorry Queen Gogglicious was detained. She was working very hard to assist in plane building. She wants to make sure we have something to fly to our Baltic Ballyhoo on!
I believe this is the castle.

Wow, this is cool!!:cloud9:

Maryann have you spoken to Sallie this week. I tried to call a couple of times but noone picks up :confused3

I'll try to call Sallie over the weekend. Hope all is OK.

Wow, the next time we're flying and they go through the whole "and you seat cushion may be used as a floatation device", I'm listening!

That pilot did exactly what he was trained to do. Now I understand why pilots need a special license to fly in and out of LaGuardia Airport in NY. Their runways are much shorter than other places and when you descend to touch down on the runway, you feel like you could just reach out the window and put your hand in the water!

Kudos to the flight crew!!!!!

Trying out a new avatar. Cranky Tink. Could be a good screen name too!:lmao:
I had a picture I wanted to use, I can't find it, hence the cranky part
.

:goodvibes I'm so glad it all worked out!

Hey Julie - since I'm not too familiar with New York/New Jersey - how close are you to that plane crash? DH just called me to turn on news, like I need to hear any other bad news?

Had it happened on the East River rather than on the Hudson, I could have seen it -- since I'm on the east side, it hasn't really affected anything here -- probably has messed up traffic on the Henry Hudson drive pretty badly, but only once you go all the way west . . . luckily all is well. I definitely wouldn't want to have been in the water today -- it is super-cold.

One of the passengers on the plane is on the phone with CNN - looks like no one was seriously hurt, they had warning and braced for impact but as the plane remained intact they were able to escape. He was in the middle of the pact but believes that everyone got out. Said the ferries were able to come right up to the front door and people were able to jump in without touching water.

Seems in the beginning many people were on the wing but they were the first evacuated. Water temp TV reports is 43 degrees with air temp 21. Lord, someone has a lucky angel on their shoulder. Kudos to the pilot for such a gentle landing enableing all to survive. Keeping fingers crossed that all have escaped.
Wow, wish I was in that kind of crash. Then I would have fullfilled my quota and wouldn't have to worry about being in another plane crash;)
Hope they figure out a way to avoid this. They may not be so lucky next time:sad2:

It will be interesting when they interview the pilot since they think he intentionally landed the plane in the river and not onto land after the bird strikes. He really need to be commended for everything he did for the safety of the passengers and crew.
:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I love how they check with Homeland Security right away. Bob is certain it was Al queda pigeons......:lmao: :lmao:

Julie, I think someone posted that the water was actually much warmer than the air:confused3

I went to a scrap book class last night. I'm still not done gluing everything on the pages. But here's what it will look like when it's done:

Now we just need some snow:rolleyes1

The store also sells lots of scrapbook stickers and supplies. I got ones for England, Russia and Germany for next year's scrapbook:woohoo:

This is beautiful. I am getting ready to head up to the scrap book store for a 6 hour crop tonight. I just can't wait to see how much you all talk tonight.

Wonder if there are any scrapbook stickers for Estonia:confused3 ;)

You know, the class I went to was from 6:30-9:00 and the time flew by. No one finished their pages.

Do you get a lot done in a 6 hour crop or is mostly socializing ?
I'm just starting out and learning and have never been to a crop yet.

:scared1:  I couldn't imagine doing that for 1 hour let alone 6 hours. Plus, my neck and back would be in dire pain before I was halfway thru the class.
Have fun.

:lmao: :rotfl: That's funny. Most people have never even heard of Estonia. DD's Global Studies teacher asked her why she picked Estonia to do a report on. Her answer was simple: she was there last summer, and will be there again this summer and next summer. The extra credit part of the report was to teach him something he didn't know about the country; thanks to the DCL site we all learned that Skype is based in Tallinn.

It sounds like a really long time, but quite a bit of that is spent chatting, snacking and whatnot from what I heard:confused3
It's suppose to be a place to get ideas from others- kind of a modern day quilting bee:confused3

Some people get lot accomplished, others socialize more:dance3:

DH and I absolutely love the pics of Estonia:cloud9:
Never heard of it before this cruise either:laughing:

I'll get more pics posted of each port and London soon.

It really is an amazing city since there is the stark contrast of the medivel part of city the against the modern city. It's so much fun to poke in and out of the alleys to explore the shops and walk into the centuries old buildings. Every turn is so different.

Love the medieval parts. It must feel a little like time travel:goodvibes

How far in advance do you book excursions if you intend to not wait for Disney's:confused3

We booked things quite early for our last cruise thanks to some great advice we got from Julie and others.

The only place we will book an excursion is in StP and I already have my tour operator lined up and we keep going back and forth with different ideas for different kinds of sites to see. I 'booked' her right after I booked this cruise, way too early in my opinion, but she was happy to take our info.

Most likely we'll just wing it in the rest of the ports again. Well, on the last cruise we did a last minute tour thru Carnival in Helsinki to get some sort of history lesson for DD.

This time we are going with my brother and his family so we'll have to see what they plan on doing, but they will probably follow us for the most part.

Cruisecritic is a great place to get info on all the ports. I'm over there a ocuple of times a week poking around for more info.

I odn't like when you have to sign up for a newsletter to enter something either. I just go and unsubscribe from them as well.

That's why I have a separate yahoo account that I use for things like that. Let the spammers have at it.
