Its a date! In London before the cruise we have to have Izzie scope out a place for a Dis Fish & Chips/ Scrumpy meet!:cool1:  :woohoo: :drinking1

Do you think maybe the year?:confused3 :scared1:  :sad2: :sad1: :scared: :lmao:

Nope sorry you've got your accompaniments wrong, it's Fish and Chips and Mushy Peas :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Fish & Chips!! We're so there. And for entertainment, we can all watch my DD cry and tell us how terrible we are when we make her eat fish.

And I'll choose scrumpy over mushy peas, please.

Laurie, I know I posted this Tallinn pic already but I'll post it again for you since it shows the old city/new city contrast.

I was thinking we might try dinner in St. Petersburg since we are there so long. Is it better to just eat on the ship and save the money for something else?
What do they eat in Russia, besides caviar, vodka and bordst:confused3

Umm, what's scrumpy:confused3

I'll pass on the mushy peas too:thumbsup2

Since you want to eat dinner in StP I take it you are going to do a private tour since you can't leave the ship on your own without a Russian Visa?
We had lunch both days in port and had sandwiches the first day and the 2nd day we ate at Stolli pie shop near the Hermitage. At the pie shop DD had a salad and DH and I each had pies, we shared a cabbage pie which was the best, I had salmon pie which I didn't like at all, DH had chicken pie I think and then we split a lemon pie. We just got the small pieces. I had no clue what to expect and they reminded me of a long, thin stromboli that was cut in portions about 3x5 or 3x6 and served room temp. We were stuffed when we left. With drinks our lunch was about $12. or so. I'll have to search to find their website, it's pretty intersting to look at.

Wow, wish I was in that kind of crash. Then I would have fullfilled my quota and wouldn't have to worry about being in another plane crash;)
Hope they figure out a way to avoid this. They may not be so lucky next time:sad2:

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Julie, I think someone posted that the water was actually much warmer than the air:confused3
Question........how many geese have you seen flying around lately? Aren't they already there???:confused3

I went to a scrap book class last night. I'm still not done gluing everything on the pages. But here's what it will look like when it's done:

Now we just need some snow:rolleyes1

The store also sells lots of scrapbook stickers and supplies. I got ones for England, Russia and Germany for next year's scrapbook:woohoo:

That looks beautiful, Laurie:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Laurie, from what I have begun to research, all the ports other than St. Petersburg can be done pretty easily on your own . . . you will have to either come up with a private tour company or do DCL excursions in St. P, though.

There were a couple hundred geese at the field at the bottom of my block last week. They took off in a few huge V-shaped formations. I was afraid to look up!

Just a little bit more studying, then off to bed. Have a good night all!

One thought I have is that when we sailed Med two years ago, DCL did change their menus and had local foods on the dinner menus. I will probably still eat on the ship (we have late seating.)

I'm thinking of going with a private tour. I haven't been overly fond of DCL excursions.
$12 for three people is not bad. Plus the food sounds good.

We live near Dulles airport and yes we have tons of geese here too. I didn't know what caused the crash in NY:confused3 I know they make things for cars to repel deer, maybe they could do something like that for geese;)

That looks beautiful, Laurie:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
Thanks:goodvibes

Leaning towards a private tour company as I wasn't impressed with the excurions and their prices DCL had offered on the PC Repo.

Good Luck Mike:thumbsup2

Well that's good to know in case we decide to keep to the meals on the ship:thumbsup2
Hope they have chicken kiev:woohoo:

Ok, I guess I'm wrong about the geese........:rolleyes1

About DCL excursions, I've been on my share of them, they are usually expensive. Sometimes, they are wonderful. Occasionally, they aren't worth it. If you have an idea what you're doing, you will probably save money on your own, but I think you really have to do the research.

So, let me know what we're all doing in St. P....... :cool1:

Who else is our NY contingency? MaryAnn? JoAnn? Julie? Hope their commute isn't too bad tonight. :grouphug: to everyone and make sure you hug your babies and significant other a bit tighter tonight.

As for me - I have 15 minutes to get my snacks and ice so I will be checking out for now but will check back in later. Be safe all!

I'm down in PA, so I'm about 2 hours by car from there.......my oldest DD told me that this summer when she was interning at Saatchi & Saatchi, she would have been able to see it thru her office window. She now in Brooklyn on the far side of Manhattan from there.

I was brought to tears watching the footage, imagine the fear and unbelievable relief when the pilot landed them almost kept them out of the water??:grouphug:

We are doing some sort of tour with Anastasia. Haven't decided if we are going to stick with the 'normal' sites or go all out wacky and do a military tour and jewelry factory tour or what. Probably will lean towards the latter since my bro and fam may get easily bored with the palaces and museums, so will DD after going again this summer.

The worst part about being in StP is that the first day we don't dock until 10:30am and it really makes for a short day for touring the inside sites since alot of them close at 5 or 6pm and some require traveling outside the city. On the bright side, we are in the city on the weekend and most of the locals leave the city for their datchas (summer cottages). That would be your first Russian word and the only one I can remember.

Listen, this whole trip is mostly a whole new horizon for me, so anything we do will be amazing!!pixiedust:

Tallinn is the best preserved medivel city in Europe.

We'll have to get Caro to repost her Scrumpy pic. Oh Queen Googlilicious......
But it's hard cider.

We asked at the Rose & Crown when we are at WDW if they had Scrumpy, but unfortunately they didn't.

that's what I'm thinking too! That's how it was for the Repo cruise this summer! I can't imagine I'll ever get back to the Panama Canal and Columbia again. It was an amazing experience.
