6/13/2009 Western on Magic- Our Cruise Chat Continues!

Okay, I'm officially freaking out!!!!!!!! Some of you may have already seen my thread on the main forum page. Tori came home today and tells me that a boy that sits behind her in 2nd period has chicken pox!! Since it can take 2 weeks to show up...well, you know what's happening in two weeks!! PLUS, she and I are heading to Washington, D.C Mon thru Thurs before the cruise for a field trip... Of course I didn't purchase the insurance and now I'm kicking myself in the you know what! Prayers and pixie dust please...

Did she have the vaccination?

Yes, she was vaccinated when she was one and the vaccine wasn't mandatory. She will probably be okay but I'm just being paranoid. Any of us going could be exposed to any number of things prior to going and not know it. I've been reading up on it and since the boy was most contagious in the few days before breaking out, that would have been over the long holiday weekend. I think I just panicked b/c we didn't buy the insurance.

Key West ~ Ok I am sooo confused... per DCL website it says ashore time is 12:30am but when I look at my itinerary from my TA is says 11:30am ~ ARGH!! Why can't they speed up the ship so we can have a longer time there!!! Now makes things difficult since I have 2 excursions planned: Trolley (which is anytime) & Parasailing @ 1:30pm. Does anyone know how long it will take for the parasailing? There are about 14 of us but I believe some are going tandem.

GC ~ Even though we dock @ 6:15am ~ they have to clear customs & they won't let anyone off until they are cleared. I have never heard of anyone getting off the ship before 7:30am. But I could be wrong.

This time zone thing is so confusing to me. Check in is at 8am and you walk to a hotel. I decided to stick with the 10:30a tour. Thanks!!

I think the Key West - is 12:30p in the afternoon.

I'm to confused and nervous. I emailed Carolyn back and think I going to just tell her to make it 10am.

Yeah I was trying to do the Glass bottom boat excursion on my one at KeyWest but the lady told me that I couldn't make it for the 12:00 time because of Disney's arrival time however she told me if I set foot on land at 11:20 the I would make it!!! So we will be trying.....

We SURVIVED! YEAH! Everything almost went perfect too!

The only scary part was my 3yo. Technically she should not have been at the party but I was not going to pay for a babysitter when I paid for everything else for the 60 people that were here! Our teacher said every kid needed a parent to swim so there were a lot of people here!!! So my 3yo who has become VERY daring in the pool decided to swim to the deep end and try to grab on to the hot tub area which is raised up. Well the water fall was on and she could not grab on to it. The kids did not realize what was happening so no one helped her. So there goes me JUMPING in fully clothed! Maddy did not even care. She was ready to jump right back in! At least jumping in cooled me off...

Just back from buying bathing suits for DD. Had to get "big girl" suits with little bras/lining. Where did my little girl go? I literally cried when she put them on since she looked so grown up.

I know what you mean about not eating until the cruise!! I'm already wearing swim-shorts with my swimsuit- I think I need to upgrade to swim-sweatpants. I wonder if they sell them anywhere.

Nikki-when I read this I burst out laughing. I went swim suit shopping the other day and ended up with the swim shorts too. I actually tried on some sweat pant burmuda shorts but I thought they made me look bigger, lol!

I just want to say it is getting very hard containing my excitement for the cruise when none of the kids know about it.....

I know exactly what you mean. It doesn't help when I keep having the kids try on clothes to make sure things fit right. I have the suitcases out and I told them that I needed to by summer clothes and because there is no room in their rooms I am storing them in the suitcases. They keep asking "where I going to wear this to?" Since they wear uniforms - I told them they needed more regular clothes for the summer because they have outgrown stuff.

But.....that's why I come here. You are my peeps!!!! You share in my excitement.

I CAN relate. But I can't bring myself to it yet She will be ten next week and I still can't put her in 2 pieces (aside from tankini). I am trying to hold on to every pathetic thing I can. I think this may be the last "lil girl" bathing suit purchase though. I held on as loog as I could
