58 tantrums, 2 snakes, 3 dole whips, a fall & lost sunglasses... OH MY!!!!!

FL has about one cold month out of the entire year (mid-January to mid-Feb.) otherwise it's always hot. And AK is the worst; all that foliage just traps in that humidity. I can't blame the kids for being irritable. It can get pretty miserable out in the hot sun. :sad2:

Glad you got to go on EE! I love that ride, especially the backwards part. But I don't think I'd have been brave enough to go on it as a young kid. Kudos to Lawsen!:worship:

Hmm- I never thought about the foliage and humidity!! Good point!

I loved the backward part too!

Monday, October 21, 2013 Continued....

I have never been so happy to get back to the room in all my life. These babies were just worn out and I knew that Landen needed to take a nap most def.

This little surprise awaited us in our room.

The boys LOVED it. Landen got the Mickey pillow 2 weeks before our trip prior to our trip. Mousekeeping rocks!!

Stevie didn't mind staying in the room with Landen so he could nap ( I am pretty sure HE wanted to nap himself). Lawson and I headed to wash some laundry. Now, normally I do NOT do laundry on vacay but we were so close and it's always good to get some laundry out of the way. Less when you get home. On the way, we passed a quiet pool and Lawson just had to swim. I figured this would keep him occupied so Landy could sleep.

Beautiful.

I posted this pic on facebook " Just hanging around at Caribbean Beach"

Everyone commented how cold it was back home and how jealous they were. Hey- I'd be jealous too. Not a bad place to be on a Monday afternoon.

There was a girl at the pool who was the girl version of our Laws the Boss. She was bossy, snarky and cute as can be. Just like our baby. Her and Lawson were going back and forth with each other, " I bet you can't do this and I bet you can't do that". LOL. It was so funny. Everyone at the pool was cracking up. At one point, we had to check the laundry and go back to the room. Well, Laws went in the bathroom to put spike up his hair with gel so when we had to walk back by the pool, to grab the laundry he could see his new girlfriend. He insists he wasn't doing his hair for her but I am his mama and I just knew. We are going to be in trouble with this one!

Young love. AHHH....

Eventually we had to wake up Landen and he woke up in a wonderful mood. PERFECT. Before long we were all ready to head out.

Can you see all the gel in his hair? LOL.

Before long, we arrived at Epcot. :)

We decided to head on over to World Showcase, as we were hungry!! Along the way, we spotted the Duffy the Disney Bear Meet and Greet and Laws really wanted to meet this cuddly, sweet bear all stuffed with fluff so we hopped in line. Now by this point, we knew that Landen just didn't care for the characters so being the sweet man that he is, Stevie parked it on a bench with Landy so Laws and I could enjoy.

It was such a beautiful Monday evening.

There was a family in front of us frantic that they were going to miss their 6 p.m. ressie for the Garden Grill.. I was frantic for them b/c I just hate that feeling at Disney.

It came to be our turn and what a sweet bear Duffy is!

Precious!

Meanwhile, Landen met a few new buddies. Mighty Ducks anyone?

Okay by this point, we were starving and we commenced to walking around in circles trying to find something to eat. Now being that it was Food and Wine, there were plenty of choices.. But with having two small, picky kids, not so much. I would love to come back to Epcot sans kids and just eat whatever I wanted.

Germany was beautiful.

We stopped and watched the little train station. I wish we had something like that at home.

It was just so crowded and by this point, I was totally aggravated. I was hungry, undecided.. It was bad. We passed Via Napoli and San Angel Inn and how I wished I would have made a ressie for one of these. We ended up going back to one of the quick service mexican restaurants. We got Lawson some kind of taco kids meal and Stevie got the Combo #1, whatever that was. LOL. I ended up getting something from the F & W booth. It was some sort of beef taco thing and I got a habanero margarita. How I looked so forward to this drink but it wasn't all that. Watered down margaritas are never good.

We FINALLY found a spot overlooking the water to eat our meal. The kids enjoyed watching the ducks here but overall, this place was so crowded and the kids were not being very good. I try to remind myself that they are just tired and we are way off our routines, etc. etc. etc.

After our meal, we headed to our fav attraction at Epcot! Under the Seas.. With Nemo and Friends..

The boys love this ride and I do too. It's so super cute.
After our ride under the sea, we played around with Bruce and tried to take the obligatory pic in his mouth, but of course Landen is scared of everything and wouldn't do it. LOL.

We went into the gift shop and I bought a little snowglobe that I think was $24.50. The boys' bathrooms are done in a bright, ocean theme so I thought it would be precious on their counter. It has one of the seagulls overlooking the globe and Dory and Nemo inside of the globe. It says "Mine" on the front. I love it and so glad I decided to buy it.

I can't wait until Finding Dory comes out.

One more thought before I wrap this little segment up.. What is up with the Disney haters this week? UGH, I swear. One of my friends told me that another one of my friends mentioned to her that she can't believe that we go to Disney once a year and the same friend even non-chalantly mentioned to me a couple of months ago that "Life is too short to do the same things and experience the same experiences over and over".. I really felt like it was a dig at me. Honestly, I want to say, why are you worried about what my family and I decide to do with OUR time and OUR money?

I tell everyone, go to Disney, at least, just once in your life. You will see why I love it so much. It is no different than the same people who go to the beach two or three times a year or the mountains. It is just what we enjoy doing as a family and one of these days, when my children are all grown up, I will be thankful that I made these memories. One day, they will be embarrassed to be seen with me. As the teenagers say, YOLO!!

I don't think that anyone ever says " Man, I shouldn't have experienced all those magical memories and should have been at the office more".

As I know how fast life can change. One year, my mom was here, healthy as could be, the next year, she wasn't. One day I had a job, the next I didn't.

I know you all know that Disney is "the happiest place on earth". Only you guys know that feeling on the night before you leave for Disney. Only you understand the tears you experience seeing Wishes, Illuminations or MSEP... (even if it's your 20th visit), the thrill of the Yeti, seeing your child's face light up as they spot their favorite character, and only you guys understand the giddiness of walking down Main Street and spotting that castle in all of her glory. :cloud9:

I am so happy to have a place like the DIS to share this love together.

It's a shame more people don't understand, huh?

Aww I love when Mousekeeping does stuff like that. So cute.

Uh oh, looks like Laws is a player.

Seriously how cute is Duffy? A lot of people don't get him, but I think he's ALL that. He's Mickey's bear for goodness sake.

Haha, it's always rough when you have that many choices to pick a place to eat. Sometimes I swear it would be better if there was just one big cafeteria, lol.

Wow, that last part was so well said Marcie. I feel lucky that I don't ever get any questions or negativity about my Disney obsession. But I certainly do hear about others hearing it. And you nailed it. What's the difference between always going to Disney and always going to the beach, or always going to wherever. The answer is nothing. That's why I love this place too. We all "get it". :grouphug:

Laws is definitely going to be a player.. He has his first dance this Friday at school!

That's a bright idea about the big cafeteria. We should write Disney about that.

:) Big Disney hug Rob! I know you get it! Xoxo

After we finished up with Nemo, we decided we better head out to MK so we wouldn't miss Wishes and MSEP...

It seemed like we waited FOREVER for a monorail to get there, however. Landen was so antsy and wouldn't let me hold him and trying to keep him behind the gate/line was kind of difficult.

Now, we didn't have any plans to ride rides. We were pretty much here just for my favorites. I CANNOT and WILL NOT miss Wishes or the parade. Just can't.

We found a wonderful spot in front of Ye Old Christmas Shoppe. We have sat here in years past. It offers a great view kind of on the backside of the castle and in front of Sleepy Hollow Refreshments. I had been dying to try the waffle sandwich after reading about it on here. It is a belgian waffle with nutella ( hazelnut spread), bananas and fresh berries. Laws and I got in line while Stevie wrangled Landen. :rotfl: Laws ordered an ice cream cone.

Now, the waffle was heaven. OMG. I can't even tell you. You have to try it for yourself.

Borrowed from the Disney Food Blog.

It was so delicious. It was hard to eat it but who cares? I was eating this deliciousness in the MK, castle glowing, waiting on my favorite parade with my favorite people. Everyone was happy, happy, happy!

My favorite memory of 2012's trip was with my mom and Landen while waiting on MSEP. Landen's eyes were big as saucers and my mom looked so happy.

I miss her so much but so thankful we had that trip together and those memories.

Soon, the parade started. I just love how the characters spot you and wave at you. It just melts my heart. This parade just screams Disney to me.

Now, Stevie only captured two pics of Landen but they are still precious. ( We find the camera the next day)

Disney magic at it's best.

We packed it up and headed out. The boys were exhausted after cramming 3 parks in one day. I am still amazed we pulled it off.

Up next: Cape May Cafe!!

Good call there Marcie. No one should EVER miss Wishes. :crazy2:

Aww Marcie... on the beautiful photo of your Mom with Landen. Just beautiful.

Now those 2 pics of Landen watching the parade are absolutely perfect!!! THOSE are the photos that matter.

Watching your kid's reaction to the parade makes the whole show special a new level. It's one of the best things to experience at Disney, in my opinion. :goodvibes

3 parks in one day, plus an afternoon break back at your resort with 2 young children.....:worship: My hats off to you. I don't think I could have done it.

No- one should never miss it!! It should be against the law..

Thanks! :)

I thought the pics were perfect myself!

I don't know how we managed that but we did... I remember thinking months before the trip that I was crazy for trying but we did it! :)

I enjoyed your updates! Great pics! We've never done 3 parks in 1 day... just 2. You're brave! :worship:

I know what you mean about the Disney haters. There are a few people I share personal stuff with, but I don't talk to many people anymore. You can't say anything without them giving you their own personal opinion on stuff. I really don't CARE what they think about MY vacations!!!

All that matters is that when MY family walks into the parks, we all suddenly turn into kids again and have fun and act silly. No where else on the planet does that for us. It's wonderful to see my 17 year old laugh and do things he would NEVER let his friends see him do. I'll cherish those memories forever :)

I hope the new job is going well! :)

Looks like you had a great time. Sorry for the passing of your mother. My mom died of lung cancer this past December.

HAHA- I am surprised that we made it happen!

Maybe I should stop sharing info about our trips too. You have that exactly right, there is no where else on the planet that does that for us either. It is just something about being there that makes you feel like you are on another planet. As soon as you go under the gates of WDW, you leave it all behind. When we had our trip in October, I got to "forget" about how crappy life had been for the past year. I am so happy you understand...

Back up a couple pages and you will read that I didn't take the job. I ended up telling them that I just didn't think it would work. The hours were crazy (11-8 some nights and 9-6 the others) I just can't do that with two small children. I would never see them. However, I do have a job interview at a law firm on Thursday at 10. I am super nervous bc they are a huge firm. :hyper:

My mom died of lung cancer too. I am sorry to hear about your mother as well. I know how hard it is. It is the hardest thing I have ever gone through ( and still going)

Thank you for joining in!

That's what I get for skipping ahead to catch up... I missed a bit :rolleyes1 whoops!

Good luck on the interview! I was much more nervous interviewing at larger firms rather than smaller firms. They seem so much more formal and I'm just... not :) I have my fingers crossed for you that it's more of what you're looking for.

I'm still here but I did get a bit behind. I guess I didn't realize how hot it still was there in October. We went in November right before and during Thanksgiving and it was SOOOOO cold!!!! (Record breaking cold for them)

Love the picture of your mom and your sweet Landon in the last update. She looks so happy.

Hope you like Cape May Cafe'!

I'm sorry about your Mom

How did I not know there is going to be a Finding Dory?!? Thanks for that info! DD loved The Seas, and developed a crush on Nemo on our last trip -- so this is very exciting news!

BTW, I don't know what to say about the Disney haters. It's annoying...why anyone would judge what others choose to do on their free time, or where they choose to vacation, is beyond me. :furious:

Thank you... I'm not very formal either.
Everyone says just to be myself.. :)
I'll report back after the interview.

Oh yes- it was veryyyy hot!
I'd love to go during Thanksgiving sometime. How were the crowds?
Thank you. Mom had a long and difficult journey but we made the best of it.
