50 Enhancements across WDW for the 50th

I think all of this is the LEAST they can do after the mega-event they put on for DL's 50th. Did anyone here attend the big day for that? Although some of it was throughout the year, there were speakers, special guests, the governor-to whom they presented a gold motorcycle (the reason escapes me). DS was there as one of the musicians that day and he told me about it-it was quite an event and no doubt, not inexpensive for Disney to put on.

Wouldn't it be great to have the fans vote for their preferred enhancements (or 10)...even if you just made it a contest for one enhancement per park (so you, as Disney, know you can only be stuck with 4 big monetary drains, which you should be on the hook for every year anyway) that the fans get to choose - like "fan month"...THAT would be a good 50th anniversary special...

That seems like one of those things but sounds great but might be trouble in real life as people complain that their choice didn't get picked or even "why can't Disney do them all?"

I do like the idea of engaging with the public/fans. Maybe just do a contest where you write in suggestions and Disney may consider them. Heck they might get some good ideas out of it and some good pub if they implement an idea a child suggested (even if something they were thinking of doing anyway)

well, 2 of the 3 new lands will be experiences unto themselves. If they deliver on the promise of Pandora and Star Wars Land I actually think getting both of those within 2 years or so is pretty dang good and could qualify as an "embarrassment of riches" .... now, if all you care about in those lands is the rides, then yeah, 6 new rides isn't all that to write home about

You would also have go forget the decade of stagnation before...which is what negates "all this spending" as a true addition...we're just starting to get back to equilibrium here...in truth

Honestly? Just the fact that this thread is about the idea of changes being implemented for the 50th anniversary and the concept that it's more fun to talk about new things that people would enjoy. I realize that expensive projects are few and far between, but since the concept of improvements to the park was introduced, and these are 2 ideas that have been brought up repeatedly as desirable improvements, but are fundamentally different processes I was curious what the consensus preference would be.

Ok...cool beans

There's that pesky elevation problem that keeps arising.....Either have to start higher, finish lower, or have a second lift in the middle......not going to happen.

It's an awful ride...

I'd rather they get rid of that and bring back cranium command and the making of me.

SMART = GOOD

Very cool concept that would be well received. Something like new scene, etc would go over so well

This would be fun and interesting. But only if Disney is smart enough not to have a write in option. Cause that's how you get Boaty McBoatface. And trust me, Disney does not want a Boaty McBoatface.

I know we are all sick of frozen but I think if we are talking about the magic of music in Disney movies it would almost irresponsible not to include Frozen. 20 years down the line today's kids will still remember how that music captivated them. Disney historians and quite rightly historians in general will be able to pin point how much of a difference the music of Frozen made. But I'm rooting for Moana additions too because

If a milestone was "significant"...in the past...it would warrant a significant ADDITION or two...

Not putting new paint on small world, closing the park at 8, and only selling 20,000 $150 hard ticket events for extra "magic"...

...so yeah, skepticism is warranted until proven otherwise.

What gets me is that they are treating the $125 base tickets like "oh, that's the minimum"...it's not even getting a second thought that there is a responsibility to sell those...

Now it's nothing but stacking.
I don't disagree. But you all may be missing the big picture. Not included in this list by @rteetz is some key adds that may or may not be totalled into the group:
Rat in France - is lead due to timeline and cost - per Martin and MagicFeather - 2020 is the date the Bobs want this in, and BatB won't hit that timeline
New country in WS - MagicFeather says one new world could it by 50th, Lentesta says Spain is the add
Old rumor had Stitch replacement and Fix or removal of Speedway in MK as being done by 50th as well.
For that matter SWL may also be considered part of this, but that is doubtful since it will be open by 2020.

Respectfully, you're falling for the carrot...

That's 4 years away, it takes them FOREVER to do anything these days...and all those "insiders" throw out a lot of wishful thinking then later back it off and say "budget cuts"

Budget cuts are web code for "we heard it, got all excited when we shouldn't have...and said it to look so bright later"

That's why I plead with everyone to wait for ground breaking. The next thing at WDW should be the Caribbean thing...and a serious ramp up at studios or that ain't making "the 50th"

As long as everyone keeps going...there's no reason to for them to push anything.

And if anyone buys ANY new country rumor in Epcot...then you really need to step back and look at your WDW history...

There's a reason that they haven't touched it since 1988...it's not a "we haven't got around to it"...the model is broken and that's why it doesn't happen.

At I the only one who has like nooo patience for the negativity regarding the 50th? Like we can compare to past milestone years but honestly there's no way this is gonna be like those. 50 vs 30 vs 25 vs whatever like it can't even compare. As for the countries and how long this all takes like congrats you've made it to Scrooge territory. I'd be cautious to remind you that this website is dedicated to Disney who is all about magic. I for one would rather be disappointed then try to be the one ruining the excitement and the anticipation of announcement for others. I say all this respectfully just remember that the magic hasn't quite left all of us yet...

1. Explain above? (This is gonna be a doozy...me thinks)

2. Aside from that...to be fair...the problem with "the 50th" is that those anniversaries have become almost completely marginalized under the iger regime in WDW. It is a different clientele than Disneyland. The only thing that determines significant changes in Orlando travel is the greater economy...these events havent made a significant impact in years. 1996 and 2000 were a big deal...we were there...since the end of Eisner they have been marginalized. The only thing that gets any real attention are hard ticket events and the Epcot food booths. I mean...that is the truth. It's just a different mindset. In California with a local crowd those drive gate...no longer in Orlando.

So while they "should" care To make a big deal for 2021...if they're advance analysis doesn't see a huge profit upside...it will be very limited. Why? Because it's just about your money...which leads us back to #1

Adding to Philharmagic could be cool if done like Star Tours, a random sequence everytime, no guarantee you'll see every song every time.

No thanks. I don't need to spend 3 hours of my day in Philharmagic. But that is only because I really love it and I'd want to see all the different randomization.
