5/31/11 -- Chilling on the Wonder

Hi Linda,
We should meet for wine onboard. My husband and I are both into pottery, he's done a lot of mosaic work with scraps from the old pottery factory on the island. We've both lived here for about 20 years.
Maybe we could have tea on day 3 ;).
Sherri

Sherri, we would love to meet up and have a chat. As I said, the island is one of his favorite places in the world. We've searched for some of those scraps before ;-) I will be trying to get a tea time when reservations open up. I don't know what they will have available though. We would be glad to meet up anytime you like. We'd really enjoy seeing some pics of your husband's work also if you'd like to bring some.

Linda & Mike

Thank you my friends for all the replies and explanations about FEs! How thoughtful and generous an idea it is, kinda like many Secret Santas. Gee my kids already think it's Christmas everyday on a Disney Cruise. this will truly blow their minds!

Thank you also for adding us to your list. I will send you our stateroom numbers soon.

My family needs to withdraw from participating in the FE program. Since we are not spliting into smaller groups and we have so much luggage we find we can't participate. Thanks!

I know I have seen this before, but what is the earliest time they suggest a flight? Is 12:00 okay?

We pushed the Disney recommendation a bit. Our flight leaves at 11:59 am. We'll be driving up and DH will drive home without us, so if we miss the flight we'll just have a long car ride.

LOL! Hope that minuted doesn't mess you up! :rotfl2:

We've got 11:30 am flights; airport 30 minutes from port - may mean breakfast at Topsiders instead of sit-down, but I fully expect to make it.

We also have 11:30 flight; it was all there was and I agree, I fully expect to make it...

I figure if we could catch a 9 am flight out of Barcelona, 11:30 was doable. :goodvibes

This topic gets discussed all the time, but I don't think I've read a post where the early plane wasn't caught - hoping not to be the first one to have to report that I missed it.

Well, any of you that don't have Harv & Marv Whale Watching tours booked, you may be out of luck. I wanted to book with them for when we are in Juneau, because they are rated one of the best, and you can get a private boat if you have a group of 6, which we do... She emailed me back last night that they are completely booked. UGH! So, onto another recommendation I guess. We can book on Wednesday so, we may be booking thru DCL if those are still available.

I sent them a request last weekend and got my confirmation yesterday. I am glad I didn't wait. I didn't get the time I wanted but I guess I just feel lucky to be going with them. So sorry they were booked for you.

We are a group of 7 and booked a private boat also; but I booked back at the beginning of January....

We were talking about the possibility of seeing the Northern Lights while on this cruise. For anyone interested, here is a link that does aurora forecasts. http://www.gedds.alaska.edu/auroraforecast/

"The best months are the months when it's the darkest - IE mid-Winter.
Even on a peak year I've never seen the aurora between about April 15 and August 15 - the sky is just too bright all night."

So, not likely. But maybe.

The northern lights are one of the main reasons I have always wanted to experience Alaska! But obviously that is not likely to happen on a cruise (since AK cruises are summer).

I'm sorry if I've asked this before, but does anyone have a logo for this cruise that I can possibly use? I was going to use it on the FE gift and I really am not good at that kind of thing.

Many thanks!

Linda
