5/31/11 -- Chilling on the Wonder

To those who asked,i was finally able to get in at about 4 am (I have a newborn-- that's why I was up). I am happy with what we got except that we didn't get a Palo brunch or tea.

I was on at 12:01 EST also. There seemed to be plenty of time slots for tea and brunch, however, many of the time slots had "TRM code not in CMS" next to it. I was afraid to pick those times in case it was an error of some sort and the booking wouldn't be honored.

It seems to me that the "TRM code not in CMS" has to do with Tracy Arm not being a real port. Similiarly, if you look at Palo dinner reservation on day 1, you will see the "VAN code not in CMS" message as well. Personally, I don't think it'll be a problem unless Palo isn't available on these days. :)

Everyone get to book what they wanted? They only thing that I miss out on was I try to reserve a spa treatment for the wife. None of the times work with our schedule.

Hope there will be anything left for us newbies to book ....:hourglass

Can anybody tell me a little bit more about the brunch and the high tea?

Brunch is a buffet. There is a table (1) with stone crab legs, caviar and fixings, prosciutto-wrapped asparagus, shrimp/tomato juice shots, salmon mouse, salad leaves. (2) Artisan breads table. (3) muesli, stollen bread, berries, and whipped cream, sticky buns, croissants. (4) desserts.

In addition, once you sit down, you can order pizza (brick-oven style, not like Pinnochio's). Choose from about 4 brunch items: pancakes, eggs benedict (2 styles), perhaps a frittata; and 4 lunch items: veal saltimboca, chicken parmigna (sp?) with risotto, lobster ravioli perhaps and something else. Soft drinks included as is champagne and the champagne cocktail of the day.

Tea has one seating and is limited to much fewer tables. Hot tea or something else to drink, then an assortment of sandwiches and desserts. I have had such good English tea that this one just can't match up. The sandwiches are not on regular bread and there are no great cakes. Others will tell you it is great, so you can decide if $5 for tea in a peaceful area of the ship is worth it (that's the benefit I see).

unfortunately no :sad2:

we only got Palo for dinner, but not for brunch or high tea. We love the brunch there and have not had a chance for high tea... I went online at 3am Eastern time on the first day, but I guess that's 3 hours too late.... Hoping that something will open up later!

Well, that makes sense now:upsidedow I had never seen any of those terms next to reservation times before and thought there was a glitch in the booking system :dance3:

I'm busy making my FE gifts. My 10 year old says to me "Awwww, I want one". Getting very excited now.

I have a friend who said that Sam's club has $100 Disney gift cards for like $98.98 and you get a $10 Disney gift card free. She's going to Alaska in July. She bought enough cards to pay off her trip (and bought herself a Douney Bourke Disney bag with the $10 cards!) Disney gift cards can be used to pay on board charges too. We took our card from the Food and Wine festival last October and applied it to our on board balance. I'm going to check it out and see if the $10 special is still going on. It'd be great to get that extra 10%. Just got to figure out about how much I'm going to spend on board. I'll report back.

Linda

We have some gold, some silver and some newbies on our cruise. So far we've all gotten the excursions we wanted. We have requested the private room at Palo for brunch and dinner so we won't know about that one for a while.

We are splitting up for a lot of the excursions based on ages and interest. Here's our plans so far:

Ketchikan:
Ketchikan Kayaking private group
Silverking Seafood Boil and Bonanaza

Juneau:
Mendenhall Glacier and Whale Quest
Mendehnall Glacier Float

Skagway:
Yukon Suspension Bridge and Klondike Explorer
Mammoth Waterfalls and Zipline
White Pass Scenic Railway

What day are you trying to book private room at Palo for brunch. Might be interested in joining. Already have dinner reservations.

We are full, unfortunately! I'm sorry! We have 14. I know you've been looking for someone to join you. I never piped up because there's so many of us!

They are still available at our Sam's Club but there are limits on where the $10 card can be used. I think it was only good at Disney Stores or http://www.Disneystore.com not for in the parks or on the cruise.

Thank you! That's good to know. We can always find something to buy online too! Like I said, my friend got herself a nice handbag ;)

Linda

I found some at my local Sam's about a month ago. They were in a special display before Christmas and any that are still there are now on display with the various other gift cards (as reported elsewhere in a thread - and there continue to be reports of people finding them at their local Sam's - not online) .

The $100 gift card was around $98 and can be used to pay for your cruise, onboard account, at parks, etc (just like cash). The $10 bonus shopping card is much more limited, basically good for shopping at Disney.com and some Disney stores - not the one in DTD or the outlets.

I, too, bought a bunch; should cover about 2/3 of our excursion costs for this cruise, and bought my sister a Dooney & Bourke purse to match the one I had gotten the month before. Free purse and 1%+ off the $100 cards :thumbsup2

With so much going on, I can't remember if I booked a hotel for the night before. I did a ton of research but realized this morning as I was booking hotels for our spring break college tour that I couldn't remember if I did or not, and if I did where I booked. :confused3 Now I am going to have to see if I can remember what I did and make a few calls. UGH!!!!
