*drool* I wanted one of these when we had to get a new fridge in London. But our house was old (1970's) and the opening would not accommodate one.

Now I have the chance to get one, but in the rental we have ice and water through the door and we LOVE LOVE LOVE it. But it's a side by side which I don't care for (love the bottom freezer).

I know they make french door fridges with the ice/water through the door, but the fridge repair man we had here said they have lots of issues with them. We have until our house is built to figure out what we're going to do.

So.....do you have ice and water through the door? If so, I want daily updates on your fridge! HA!

My sister has had one for a while. I'll have to ask her if she's had problems.

They call it $2 Chuck but it's $3 here too.

Our school handles english & math similarly here but they don't classify it as GT. They group kids as on-level, advanced or accelerated (one-year ahead) and swtich classes for the subjects. I think I need to fight a battle (or at least inquire assertively) with regards to Emily & math. She's in on-level math & reading classes. I agree with the reading but not with the math. I inquired about it at the beginning of the year but was sort of given the run-around .... she is where her teacher from last year said she needed to be, kids in our school in on-level are not below average, etc. Now that I'm getting test scores in, I think I need to fight it. Also I need to fight it because Emily has come home a couple of times saying she's bored in math. I also found the criteria for being placed in advanced class & I'm pretty sure Emily meets/exceeds that criteria. The school can't make me believe that are no kids in the on-level class that are brining the other ones down! Emily's class just went through multiplication & had to pass timed tests on the facts. They couldn't move on to the next number family until the passed the one they were on. She passed all tests WAY before anyone else in her class .. she went 0-12 & the closest kid to her was still on 7s.

Ok ... enough of my school rant.

Might as well get used to fighting with the school, it's part of your life now. This is why we home schooled in 5th grade. Sent you a PM.

Yes, ice and water through the door. It will be here on Monday. It is the 'french door' type, which I have wanted since they came out. Its got the freezer 'drawer' in the bottom, which is actually 2 drawers once you open it up. I had to laugh because the sales guy was all over the fact that its got an alarm on it if you keep it open too long... in the 14 years that I've had kids, none of them has ever walked away and left the fridge open... I don't think they'll start now!!!

We have problems with our current ice maker, which is one of the reasons we're getting rid of the current fridge. It's only 7 years old (I think... it was here with the house), but I hate it. It's a side-by-side, so nothing large fits ANYWHERE. Thank God for our chest freezer in the garage, or we'd never have a Digiorno pizza!!

Can you link me to the fridge you got? The exact model. Because you know, we Karen's should stick together! HA!

I am always always always fighting with Nick's teacher. It's a constant battle.

KT on the other hand has great teachers!

Long story short, I attended an after school detention with Jared today and actually got him out of it, which keeps it off his record. I don't very often say this, but the teacher was wrong...and once he saw me walk in with Jared, he owned up to it.
The bad part is that I've been fighting the flu for a week now, it had been going away (I thought) and is now back with a vengeance.
I'm so glad Jordan is out of that school and will be :dance3: when Jared is too!!

U-Top...extra PDFG!!

Palin backlash continues as Republican lawyers head to Alaska to take back her $150,000 campaign clothes

That was the headline in a UK newspaper. If I hear any more about this, I might just go nuts.
Michelle Obama was listed in People magazine's "Best Dressed" issue, and they're now comparing her to Jackie Kennedy Onassis.
All I can say is that if Michelle Obama continues to wear her designer clothes while in the White House, I may end up on the front lawn with a sign asking the Obamas to SHARE THE WEALTH.

I'm waffling between an ipod Touch so I can download audio books and games, or a Kindle. So many toys, so little time and money.
I know you won't be surprised - but I love my Kindle... I use it all of the time on trips and such.... The only issue I have is that not everything is on it - but when the books are - well they are cheaper and just as easy to ready. Stacey - you should look into it - as you can make the text bigger.... :rotfl: :stir:

:furious: I don't even know what a Kindle is. And I just figured out how to do books on my iPod...:confused3 Don't confuse me more than I already am.

And I wasn't an Instant Winner, either. Big surprise.

I noticed they now have some iPhone apps for reading books. I'm sure Kindle is much better if reading is all you want to do.

I personally like someone to read to me. Podcasts and audible work for me.

No instant winner for me either. It was cute.

Well, you made me go and look. I can buy an awful lot of books for $350.
And I've been buying books on Amazon lately, getting them used for a lot less than $9.99.
Guess I'll just keep reading the old fashioned way.

UNLESS.....I didn't watch the demo video all the way through....can you read it in the dark?

Kikipug, you heading into Orlando tomorrow? Lemme know if you are. :)

Hi all!

It's been a busy week -I think I mentioned earlier, the YMCA of the USA is filming and photographing material at my local Y for the lifeguard certification which is currently being updated. I'm a general go-fer, technical consultant, and even pressed into service for some on camera "stunt" work.

So, I joined the water aerobics class on Friday as a water aerobics class member who suddenly slides underwater, several takes later with 5 lb hand weights between my ankles and 3 lb weights in my hands, I was able to stay at the bottom of the pool, long enough for them to get the shot...:lmao: But, picture before that having to look like I'm jogging without losing the weights that are stuck between my crossed ankles, plus showing visible signs of distress :lmao It took us almost the entire class period to film from multiple angles what will be a 2 minute segment...

Then I spent another 2 hours dog paddling as a victim for some of the lifeguard skills. After that the younger staff took over for the rest of the day's agenda.

Most importantly, I can now say I'm a swimsuit model :scared1: They needed a still photographer shot of two of us lounging in lounge chairs - I think it's for sun safety... That was no problem - 15 minute cat nap :lmao:

Tomorrow, they want to shoot some water park video and need families - unfortunately, that pool is only heated by the sun and we've had some very cool nights - it will be cold!!!! The kids are excited to help with the filming - I don't think they realize just how cold it will be...

We had Christopher's team party tonight on the beach... bbq, bonfire, etc... the boys decided to play football on the beach (of course) at high tide... which involved running into the water. Yes, we live in Florida, but after dusk in mid-November isn't time to be in the ocean... EVEN in Florida... they found that out pretty quickly.

It does not have a backlight - you have to use an external clip on type light. You can look at mine next time we're together...
