Debb if you are going to open up the suite please add us to the list. I went to a cocktail party in the Walt Suite on the Wonder but have never been in the Roy Suite. I do think having a set time would be best or your bell will be ringing all the time. :lmao: I'll be happy to add it to the navigator for you.

Ok, strange idea....but....I was thinking....let's say she sets the time for (hypothetically) Monday at 2:00 pm....
and then Sunday night she gets her Personal Navigator and she sees that DCL Basketweaving is at 2:15 on Monday!!! ACK!!!!!!! She's been waiting 5 years to do the DCL basketweaving class.

So......I propose....what if she picks a day (probably a sea day would work best) and then, after looking at her Navigator the night before, she picks a time that is good for HER.....And then puts a sticky note on her door with the time. That way, anyone who wants to go on the tour on that day can swing by in the morning, make a note of the time that she picked, and then make their plans accordingly.

Now, I would NOT have the note say "TOUR THE ROY SUITE AT 1:30 TODAY"....just a cryptic "1:30" or "out for now...back at 1:30, love DIS." :)

Does that make sense? Clear as mud? Since she is willing to do this for us I don't want it to interfere with HER fun. WE should be the flexible ones.

Congrats to Kristen & Frances. What type of degree is Kristen getting?

Ang

Kristin is getting a dual degree in Mechanical and Aerospace engineering from WVU. She's finishing her Junior year - and will graduate December 2007.

Of course you can come visit and check the place out. I am curious to see it too since we have never cruised.

If anyone wants to see a brief video tour, I video'd the Roy Suite the last time I had it with my cell phone, but I do not know how to post it online... I'll happily email it to someone and perhaps they can post it...? Just PM me your email and I will send it straight away... :thumbsup2

PS-the only thing you do not get to see is the bathroom (with the jacuzzi tub) b/c as you will hear in the video, the phone in the room rang.... lol...

She'll be close to us!!! - we live in Clear Lake which is where NASA and all of their contractors are located!! :cheer2: :cheer2: It's a great area...growing fast - so traffic can be a pain - but, the location is perfect...30 minutes from downtown and 30 minutes from the beach...

Any help or info just ask!!!!

You read my mind.... ;)

Karen - that is a pretty good idea (you must be remembering the problems we had with the room tour on SSMC05). I would say a good look a the navigators for the sea days on the Western would give Debb a pretty good idea of what is going on. Taking into account both Palo brunch and High Tea. I think it would be good to pick a date and time and then have a note of change if needed.

I *think* it's Monday night dinner. I have Palo Brunch on Monday (again, I *think*) and don't want two Palo meals on the same day. I'd *like* to get Palo on Tuesday night--formal night--so I only have to dress up once! :) I'd like to get it as a double dip (eat with the kids, then go to Palo)

I thought that formal night was on Monday? Am I completely mistaken on that?

BTW, my wife does not want to do Palo, but I do...I am thinking of the different options that might be available to me. Maybe Brunch on sea day #1 while she is at the spa? Maybe just dessert? Maybe make ressies and come up with some "my wife is sick" story and get it to go? Maybe meet up with some of this crazy group? Maybe my wife will change her mind between now and the cruise?

Any thoughts?

Ok, I just had an idea about the life vest situation....
What if you took a washcloth and put it in the neck hole and then slipped your head through....so the washcloth would be between you and the sweat of the 10,000 other people to have worn it. Then when you're back in the room, throw the washcloth on the floor of the bathroom and your room steward will take care of it while you're at dinner.

Voila.
Problem solved. :)

COOL a U TOP with stinky lifevests!!

WE are in the Roy not the Walt. But both look great from pics. Will be surprise for us too. Don't think 83 KYW cards idea would work to well. Maybe we should just have Mary add a tour time to the navigator.
:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

The Roy is actually a MUCH better choice... I have experience both and the Roy is by far my favorite for two reasons, first, it has the nice Dark Woods which I prefer, and second, unless you have someone playing the piano each day, it really just takes up half the room for no reason... lol... :goodvibes

By the way.... you can get free vittles from roomservice and free sodas.... the concierge can help you set it up for the visitors to have a snack if you want to.... they will even do a full set-up for you...

Gosh if no one has answered here is an update........so far as we have figured, they only let a certain number of ressie's for the entire cruise. Because we have so many repeat cruisers on this cruise and also it is fairly sold out, the Palo ressie's were all snatched up by about 3:15 am 90 days out...that is when repeat cruisers who are not Cat's 1..2..and 3 could book....so there are many of us who are "out of luck" like you. I was able to go on line and snag the Palo dinner but not brunch.....all the new cruisers who had to wiat fr 75 days out were completely out of luck...so there will be the mad dash to reservations when we board the ship and we will wait in line to see if we can get our ressies......This was the old system and it is not fun, stressful....but we "hear" that most folks will be able to get their ressie's. My two cents is that it might work for Palo's dinner but don't hold your breath for Palo's brucnh or high tea as we have 2 sea days and not 3 ..... When there are 3 sea days, I think there are enough times for all to be accomodated. I know that for the 4 day cruise, with 1 sea day, there are not....just not sure about the math for the 2 sea day. Confused yet :confused3

Good Luck - luck for me in line......

When DH called they "eluded" to being able to make ressies when we board... But I want someone to PROMISE ME I am getting into palo!!

Here is a hint fir the brunch... Last cruise we booked one and then just showed up for another... just took a wild chance while we were out walking the decks... and BINGO! We win! :cheer2: We were told by the girl at the desk that people don't show or cancel brunches when they have a conflict... :confused3 Apparently THEY THINK the dinner and brunch are just more of the same... :rotfl: Well, we just won't tell them what they are missing!

As for the tea... did it last cruise or one before with my MIL... it was ok, no biggie. I was brought up with a grandmother that did this for real most days so I just think of it as having to come in from playing early. :cheer2: I will look for you... I am afraid it will be a long line... do you play cards?

Hmmm....maybe I was misinformed b/c I thought the piano had an acrylic covering over the keys so it couldn't be played.

I have heard that the piano takes up a LOT of room and therefore the Roy is nicer for that reason.

No. You're probably right. Whatever it is, I want it differently (isn't that always the case?)

Tell ya what? *I* don't really like Palo dinner....but DH does. Maybe the two of you can go to Palo dinner together and I'll just eat in my regular dining room. BUT....ONLY if you bring me back a chocolate souffle!

ohiomickey...do you have a problem with that?

Ok, gotta run. Taking Mike's Sequoia to the car wash and then going to detail it with my handy dandy miracle cloth! :) I did my own car windows yesterday and WOOOOOWWWWIIIIEEEE....I can see out of them again!!!

Catch ya later....

They put a HUGE piano in the room, and then you aren't even allowed to play it!?!?! Nahh, that's just wrong! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

When I was in there, it was not covered, in fact I played the ONLY song I can recall from my childhood, "When the saints go marching in" LOL...

I wouldn't mind "giving" you my reservation if I give it up, but of course MY stateroom would be charged, so we'd have to figure that out. Maybe if we went to the booking place together and I cancelled and you were right behind me to book. ???

OHMinnie, I think formal night IS Mon. night (at least it is on Mary's site). That was the only night we could get ressies too. Ours are early 6:00 PM... which overlaps our early dining. I wanted formal night too. I'm pretty sure that yours were on the same night ... not that I'm stalking you or anything. :lmao:

has anyone been keeping a kind of total of folks that are going to be at the Radisson before the cruise?

I don't know if anyone has answered this or not, I'm doing the "Virgil" thing, but do you wanna start one? That would be great....

TiggerInNY and her family are staying at the Radisson the night before the cruise.

Could he bring back one for me too? After all I got you creme brulee on the last cruise. :lmao:

I'm just guessing here but I also think that ohiomickey likes having one nice adults only meal with ohiominnie which is why he likes Palo.

Wouldn't it be fun if we could get Mickey in with us?

Hmmm....maybe if we tell DCL that we ALL want to rebook, but will ONLY do it if Mickey is in our picture? HA HA :lmao:

If we can't get Mickey, we'll have to make do with the Ohio version. :lmao:

I think it's a great idea to have DCL take the picture. Like someone said, then leave it up to the families to decide if they want it or not. I'm goin to blow mine up for a mural so that when I get lonely for a cruise, I could just look at all your smiling faces and feel like I'm there. :lmao: :lmao:
