Yep! And maybe if we drink enough of them, we won't hear the darn cats outside our window that have been   (well... you know... there ISN'T a smiley for it... at least not one we want to put on a family board)...
Brings new meaning to the phrase: Cat Calls........

Don't know if I have posted this picture here before, but this was taken with my D100 in Hawaii. I was using my 70-200 with a 2x teleconverter - so using the 1.5 crop factor it was like shooting with a 600mm lens (albeit at f/5.6). My tripod is not quite heavy enough for that much glass so it is a bit soft. We were about 1/2 mile away from the flow.

WOWIE!!! THAT is beautiful!! What you said was foreign to me, but the picture made up for the lack of communication!!

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. We have had some long talks this afternoon about what is really important. Told her we all don't always get what we want, etc. She is starting to realize that it was probably for the best because she can now concentrate on her swimming. She just missed three days of swim practice so she could try out. She is only going to get one day of practice in this week before she has a 2 day meet this weekend.

One of her other friends that didn't try out called her and told her not to worry, that if their other friends ignored them because they weren't cheerleaders, they would start their own group.

We did go out to dinner tonight at the new Fuddrucker's in town. Everyone seems to enjoy it. Dale also had a hard day as he was taking the AP world history exam at the university, so we had a nice relaxing dinner.

Kevin, Your siggie changed. :confused3 Got tired of seeing Mike in it?? :lmao:

AI fans....not surprised who left tonight. Not dissapointed.

Ok, here we go....need your take on this....am I taking it to personally?

I emailed the breeder of Maggie....just simply asked how she was doing. That we hadn't heard anything in a year...

Here's what she sent back:
Hi Karen,
Maggie is doing well at her new home. Rose and her son Bradley were very patient with Maggie and she seemed to fit in well. I spoke with Rose in the late fall and she emailed a picture around Christmas. I have been extremely busy with work (moved a stat lab and we are in the process of going live with a hospital information system) so haven't done much with communication. Rose has a good friend that she works with that trains dogs so she had someone close to count on for behavioral issues. Rose seemed to think that with having older boys and a much calmer environment, she seemed to handle things a little better. I am going to try and attach the latest picture they sent.
How are things with you? Let the children know that Maggie is in good hands and is thriving in her new home. If I can ever get away and get up to Michigan, I will visit Maggie and let you know how she is doing.
Take care,
Sherry

I REALLY don't appreciate the "Rose and her son Bradley were very patient with Maggie" and "with having older boys and a much calmer environment."

I'm TEMPTED to email back and say that we're glad she's doing well....and explain that we were so disappointed to have gotten the dominant dog in the litter, that she just was not a good fit with our family. And to explain to her that the kids, even now, want nothing more than to have a good, docile family dog, but Mike and I are so gun-shy about getting another high-strung, dominant dog, that we won't get another dog for them.

let's see how she likes the blame going on HER!

But Mike says "ya know what I'd do? I'd just drop it. Let it go. It's not worth it."

Man, I want what HE'S on!!!!

Sadly, I got a U TOP with the BEAST!

Hi MickeyMo'sBo!

Your lava photo is just gorgeous!
What a tremendous shot!

Someday I hope to take pictures like that.
I'm in the process of choosing a basic dslr....

Thanks for sharing!

Here's the picture the new owners sent to her, which she forwarded to me....

(which, btw, is a STUPID picture.....I'd think she'd send a better picture of the DOG.....it's a GREAT picture of her KIDS!)

Very Nice!!

4" exposure at f/5.6? Nice!! What ISO did you use? EXIF says you used manual white balance, what did you use?

I was shooting RAW and I believe it was at iso200. The white balance probably say M since I played with it in Nikon Capture - I do not recall what the original setting was -- i will dig up the NEF file and see what is in there.

I was a really neat hike. We hiked out about 1.5 miles about 4pm. You actually walk over the lava tube that the stream is flowing through. You don't think much of it during the day time except that you can tell the rocks are hotter. At night however, when you walk back over the tube you look down the cracks and see glowing rock only a couple of inches below the surface.

Hiking in also kind of interesting since you are walking out on fresh lava which is like walking on black glass. People get their hands cut badly if they fall or just stumble and try to catch themselves.

It got dark around 7ish and we stayed out untiul almost 10pm. Later in the evening the whole wall of rock broke open and the lava stream was ~50 feet across pouring into the ocean. I will see if I cna dig out a couple more.

I liked this shot do to all of the colors -- especially the blue from the twilight.

Well-- I have a very upset little girl here tonight. She did not make the squad, they only took 7 6th grader girls. The bad part is 5 of her friends made it. I have never seen her cry like this before. She is starting to get better, but I just feel so bad for her.

Oh Pam! Hugs and PD for Ashely! :wizard:

Well, I will probably be buying that round of drinks! My TA is hosting a party at her house on May 13. S-o--o-oo-unless there are others that receive theirs even later than that, I guess I'm buying. Exactly how many of us are there? Keep in mind that I am a teacher in MS. Not exactly weathly!
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I also set two of my kids up with their own DISboard ids, but I couldn't get the paperwork faxed in for anything. It was so frustrating, so I will probably let them post under my name on the tag-along board.

Night all!

Wouldn't this sentence translate to they're also having problems? I think she's agreeing that Maggie wasn't a good fit for your family, just not as tactful. With older boys, Maggie probably figures they are the "top dogs" and found a pecking order . (I know Abby, our dog, responds differently to John versus the kids or me...)
