So tell me what to buy without spending $100 a piece on them. Full-foot, because I don't want to wear booties. Split fin, so my legs and ankles don't ache.
I did a search on those parameters on LeisurePro and found these fins that met your full foot/split needs.
Check it out, and specify full foot and splits at the check boxes to the right and it will take you there.

For snorkling I would not use split fins. They do not work well on the surface. They have a very different kicking style (short ankle kicks) that I have not found great for the surface. The "paddle" fins give more control. Kevin, would you agree with this?

If you don't want booties than go full foot. That is your only option. That will not be a problem except for those in your group who are still growing.

Some fins are now made of material that allow you to fold them in half. That makes packing much easier. Something to think about.

Once you decide on what you want, check Ebay. Fins don't break. I bought mine off Ebay and have been happy.

Here is a link of a fin rating by Scuba Diving magazine. They are a pretty good rating source. scubadiving.com/gear/fins/2005_fin_test/

Kevin, did I do okay?
You're awesome dude!! :lmao:

I do agree with the snorkeling and splits, however, if you have weak legs the splits put less stress on the legs and usually give more propulsion with the standard flutter kick. On the surface, the snorkeler needs to the legs straight and pivot at the hip keeping the leg mostly straight using nice easy strokes. :thumbsup2

Guess I'll be practicing my "make the salesmen cry" routine. I imagine we'll be going to look at the cars on Tuesday.

You could always take that paring knife!! :stir:

Irene, Netflix is a great idea for your Mom. Not sure about us though. Seems like when we have lots of free evenings, like over Christmas break, we didn't have enough movies to watch. When we got one, we would watch it right away and send it back. Now with evening activities and TV being back to normal, we have four discs waiting for us to watch. Two movies, and two TV series discs. Busy weekend coming up!

I have a confession to make. We opted out of the 24 series and we have started on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Cheesy, but pretty funny sometimes. 24 was just a bit intense.

Lady D,
You should have told me..I have all 7 seasons, and I love them! I did not watch while they were on in real time, but just started them last year, and I was hooked! They crack me up!!!!!!!!!!!

Amanda - welcome back!!:dumbo:

Karen - I was almost rolling on the floor laughing at your Monistat comment. That is one picture I am trying to get out of my head:rotfl2:

We have Solo and Ensemble competition tomorrow for both kids. Ashley will be playing her first solo and she is really nervous. It will be a long day.

What does anyone know about the difference in the ruins at Tulum or the ones at Chaccoben(??) I want to do a catamaran in one of the spots and Charley would like to do a ruins tour. What does everyone think?

Have a great weekend.

Hey Amanda, your post #6666 was about Buffy! (insert Twilight Zone music here). We just finished watching the second season Halloween episode. That was a good one.

First, GOOD LUCK ASHLEY!!! :rockband:

Tulum and Chaccoben....

Tulum is much more impressive. It has 60 structures and temples, and is on a cliff over-looking the ocean and is said to have stunning views....plus they have the beach stop included in that, and new visitor facilities onsite.

Chaccoben has 24 structures, with less than 5% of the ruins having been excavated. But it is said to be on a cliff with good views also. I just think it sounds like it won't be as interesting.

They do have a catamaran trip in Costa Maya...as in Cozumel, so you could do that at either stop. Are you going to snorkel on the Cat trip? I would want to say that you might see more variety of fish in the Costa Maya region than Cozumel....but it's difficult to tell.

Well, it is that time of the morning. Wish me luck. I am heading into the lion's den. Time to wake up Sharon so she can head out into the cold. :scared:

Good morning Cruisers!

We sail in 17 weeks!

Woo Hoo - another week closer to cruising!

Too neat! I hadn't even noticed that! Anytime you want to chat about BTVS holler at me! What I liked the best about the show, is one minute it would be tense, then next minute I would be LOLing at one of their silly lines, and the next minute I could be tearing up over something sad that happened....sigh....Is Alicia watching with you? I also got hooked on Angel....

PS while I was in FLA I bought not 1, but 2!! cases of Banfi! LOL My MIL thought I was nuts and the dude at the liqour store just laughed at me!
