So tell me what to buy without spending $100 a piece on them. Full-foot, because I don't want to wear booties. Split fin, so my legs and ankles don't ache.

For snorkling I would not use split fins. They do not work well on the surface. They have a very different kicking style (short ankle kicks) that I have not found great for the surface. The "paddle" fins give more control. Kevin, would you agree with this?

If you don't want booties than go full foot. That is your only option. That will not be a problem except for those in your group who are still growing.

Some fins are now made of material that allow you to fold them in half. That makes packing much easier. Something to think about.

Once you decide on what you want, check Ebay. Fins don't break. I bought mine off Ebay and have been happy.

Here is a link of a fin rating by Scuba Diving magazine. They are a pretty good rating source. scubadiving.com/gear/fins/2005_fin_test/

Kevin, did I do okay?

No AK for us today. No report on Everest. Maybe next time.

Lisa did okay today. 1st on bars and 5th overall, but one bad routine can ruin the whole day.

So it wasn't a total loss I took them to Key West at Gaylord Palms Resort. It sure is nice to sit on the boat, listen to tropical musical, and enjoy lunch. To bad Matt was not with us. I had to drive home.

Tomorrow morning is a family event that I may pay dearly for. We are doing the 5k/fun walk at the Speedway. Doing the runwalk is not the problem.

The problem is with Sharon leaving the house at 5 am to do the walk at 7 am when it is 50 degrees and dark. She is willing to geat up and going on Saturday when gymnastics or a cruise are involved, but to do a walk....no way.

Oh yea, my parents will be doing the walk so she gets to walk with them. That is only icing on the cake and why Matt and I will run.

We are thinking of going to see Glory Road tonight. Have any of you seen it. It is about our own Texas Western (now Univ. of Texas at El Paso). My parents always tell stories about the night they won. Of course I don't remember, I was only 5.
If no one has answered this, they were showing GLory Road on the Wonder, and we saw it. It was a really good movie, and I did not even know such a story took place! I thought it was great!

I cannot specify the exact reasoning right now, but if you are so inclined, please pray for our family. I know that God will know our needs and your intent. Right now pray for discernment and peace....hopefully next for thanksgiving, but we'll have to wait and see.

p.s. God knows me as "ohiominnie" so feel free to use that name. ;) ;)
I know I am late on this one, but I hope all is well?

We just returned from some glorious days at WDW. I want a Soarin' room in my next house. I've decided my favorite sound is the squeal our DD5 let out when she saw the Dumbo ride. Because I'm still hobbling around from a broken foot, I rode an ECV which was a God-send although I felt guilty when we didn't have to wait for It's a Small World. :tink: It was truly a great vacation.

We're going to try to go to Orlando a couple days before our cruise and see parts of the parks we missed this time around. We're ready to go back right now!

ohiominnie ~ Please know that we will definitely pray for you and your family.
Oh wow! It sounds like you all had an awesome time! Pictures if you care to share!

Sitting at the school, waiting for the team to get back. Jordan was in tears still...when she called the second time. I really hope the coach doesn't try to talk to me.
My mom called today & I knew by the tone of her voice that it wasn't good. My niece, Lindsey has a half sister...her Mom's from her second marriage...the sister has a 3 yr old little girl. The little one was visiting her other Grandma & their house burned down. Isabella (3) died in the fire. Seems like one bad thing after another.
Ohminnie....still praying!
:sad1: :sad1: Ih Stacey...my sympathies go out to you and your family! That is truly heartbreaking!

Thanks, Jim. How do you tell from the pictures online and on eBay, which ones are the shorter fins. I assume that's what you mean by "paddle" ???

Thank you. Bella's funeral was yesterday. Lindsey and Mike went, and Linds said that her sister was just devastated. Inconsolable. She said it was really, really heartbreaking. Thank God, I can't (and don't want to) even imagine.
Yeah, it's been a miserable couple of weeks.

We'll be glad when tomorrow is over....Jay's mom's funeral.

We had one bit of good news today. Megan got a call from the insurance company....she's getting $7364.50 for her car. That will make a VERY nice downpayment on a new one. She's searching online tonight for good used cars vs a new one.
Guess I'll be practicing my "make the salesmen cry" routine. I imagine we'll be going to look at the cars on Tuesday.

Paddle is just not split. Some are shaped rounder than others. Check the reviews. The Oceanic Vector rated well, modified paddle, full fin, $50, and light. Oceanic is a good company. As the review notes, foot shape is important.

I knew that. My Dad was in insurance until he retired. I used to work for him. If he hadn't been so doggone honest, he might have gotten rich.

Megan wants to go back to the dealership where we bought Pete's car. I told her that I don't think I'm allowed back there, since the one guy got fired. :confused3
